Abstain from fiction? has it became a problem?

Ha ha. Well, I'm planning on moving out of my parent's place at the end of summer, and I figure this abstention will give me extra money and motivation.

Incidentally, I'm surprised no one's mentioned the game that's going to tempt me more than any other this summer: Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People.

You know that IF the game is set in a Universe the Universe itself is Fiction BUT the game itself would be a work of Non-Fiction within that Universe.  The events that take place would not be imagined or made up within context of that universe unless stated or proved otherwise, like the dream explanation in Mario 2.

Also games like Wii Sport and Wii Fit are not fully fictional either.

Well I'm done with Rune Factory (it was very awesome) and MGS4 (it was the opposite of awesome), and I'm still somewhere near the beginning of Folklore...

I'll be gone until the 7th, so I SHOULD have plenty of time to clear out my handheld games...Maybe...

I'm on the Endgame of Part III in Fire Emblem.  I'm at the end boss of Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin.  I need to start FF: My Titles To Long and Okami.

I'm thinking about picking up the Metal Gear Solid collection as I've never played one before and trying those out has peaked my interest.  That would be terrible for my back log though.

In the meantime I'll be finishing My Life as a King and Escape from Monkey Island...

I seriously would pick GTA4 over MGS4 for game of the year. But I hope Spore knocks them both out. Besides I have doubts MGS4 will win GOTY anyway consider scores have been mixed for it. So far it only has a 92% overall score.

So far MGS4 has my vote for GOTY. Had Brawl not been slowed down I would've definitely given my vote to that. GTA IV is nowhere near GOTY for me, it would've had to do something new and worthwhile for me to care.

And MGS4 does so much new ::rolls eyes::. The game plays the same way it did back in MGS2 with the same convenient ::escape:: points that the previous games had. The only difference is you have a camo suit and little robot that you can move around. Controls are still sloppy and outdated. Heck even the visuals are marred by some annoying slowdown.

I thought it had some neat narrative innovations though, like the user-activated split-second flashbacks of past memories, and the split-screen with the Rayden fight: a sort of split awareness of location to convey two events at a simultaneous time.

Sure the core gameplay is the same, but the camera work, control and presentation is all vastly improved. At least with MGS the gameplay hasn't been beat to death as it has with GTA. One GTA game was enough to kill that gameplay. Regardless, Saints Row which came out somewhere in the range of a year and half before GTA IV seemed to add more to the GTA formula than GTA IV did. Crackdown also created a much more compelling twist to the genre that far outshines GTA IV.

Mixed with some of the most poorly paced and overly lengthly cut scenes in gaming history. Also as you may notice you are referencing CINEMATICS. Even the cinematics have slowdown in them and that is blatantly unacceptable.

I disagree Xenosaga had horrendous pacing, Xenosaga was the only one that actually put me to sleep. While MGS4 cutscenes are a bit lengthy I always thought they were interesting and very cool.

It is always cool to hear 10 minute dialogs on nanobots and the (obvious) reason why Snake is getting old.

That sounds so stupid. I hate meetings.

Meetings are where you go to die for way longer than you expected only to hear a bunch of **** you already know.

I don't want to have "meetings" with my video games too.

I'll be busy with my internship, but as soon as I beat NMH and get bored with Space Invaders Extreme, I'll pick up BoomBlox, Okami and Final Fantasy Tactics A2.

I'll be seeing about Wii Fit and GH:Aerosmith.
