Where can I find the value of my VC purchases?
« on: October 18, 2012, 10:32:52 PM »
I've gone to club.nintendo.com and printed all my registrations. It shows my systems, VC, Wii Ware, DSi Ware, and 3DS e-shop purchases, along with the date all rolled into one.

I'm looking for a-- program? website? that I'd be able to say-- "I have -this -this -this" and it would tell me how much I spent in Wii points ect..

It can be done by hand, I suppose, but I have 3 pages printed of MS Notepad.. doable, but tedious.

Any suggestions?

Not the best solution, but you could cut & paste this into your own spreadsheet, mark which ones you have, and sum the total. http://codebook.potchgult.com/clubnintendo/

If the game names in your own list are identical to the above list, you could also do a database-style join on the two sources of data. Check out Google Fusion Tables.

I don't know about everyone else, but I organise my VC games by system so it's really easy to see how many games I have for each platform. With the exception of a handful of Hanabi Festival games which were 100 points more expensive, I believe all the releases for a given system should be same price (eg. NES = 500 points, SNES = 800 points etc). A few years back I took stock of what I had spent on virtual console games by simply working out the £ value for each system (500 points = £3.50, 800 point = £5.60 etc) and then multiplying by the number of games I have for each console. It should only take a moment or two (provided you have your games organised as I do) and maybe another few minutes to figure out how many Hanabi titles you have and amend accordingly.
Gouge away.

My Wii is not working atm. I need to send it into Nintendo to get repaired. I called them up and explained that I wanted to get it repaired so that I move my VC games over to the Wii U when it comes out.. I was interested in getting the new price cut system since I don't have a WiiMote Plus or Resort so, it's $100 for repair or buy a new system for $130. The last two years that my system has been out of commission, I've hooked up my Gamecube in its place..
I really didn't know exactly how much I had in digital content on my Wii, and I wanted to know exactly how much I'd be risking if I went out and bought a new system.. and then they decide not to transfer over the data (or however it's done) if I send in the systems to Nintendo.
I think it's somewhere around $250 in digital downloads, but not sure. That's why I went to club.nintendo to get that partial info.

Ahh, right.

That's a shame. Nintendo's decision to not have downloadable games tied to an account is really coming back to bite some people in the ass. I really don't know what I would do if my Wii broke. I sent it in once before because the lens was not reading dual-layer discs. They emailed me and told me that as I had installed unauthorised software on the machine (I had installed Gecko so that I could play the American version of NMH and Smash Bros Brawl) it was no longer within warranty. To my knowledge I had removed all traces of the Homebrew Channel, but apparently not.

If my Wii ever breaks, I'm probably f***ed.

Wikipedia's list of WiiWare and Wii VC games lists the point value of each game.

If it's just a new system you're after, Nintendo may transfer your games if you bought a new system. When I bought a new system, I called up customer service and asked if they would transfer my account. All I had to do was provide the serial numbers for each system, and poof, it was transferred. Perhaps they'd do the same for you?

Yes, it's the point values I need. 1 point = 1 dollar so that makes it easy-

I remember Jonny saying a couple podcasts ago that he was able to just buy the new 3DS and transfers were automatic, providing the proper docs, but I didn't think that was possible with the Wii.

When I called Nintendo the other day, they said I had to send in both systems. Now I just need to find new Wii bundle with a reduced price... oh-- and a J-O-B!! :)  but that's a whole 'nother story.

Hm, I think you have to send in the systems only if both of them have games on them. The reason is because transferring your account will overwrite the account on the receiving system, and you'd lose anything on it. Maybe it's a case-by-case basis, all I know is what they did for me.
