My thoughts were something like:

Awful name, it's like they thought that the DS was doing too well for comfort and decided they needed to assure that in the home console realm they'd stay firmly behind Sony.






Edit: Of course I'll still buy it, but only because I can't say no to SSB, Pokemon, and the virtual console. If those three things were taken out of the picture, I would have considered not buying any of the three next-gen home consoles and going portable-only.

I can't even begin to explain how disappointed I am in the final name selection for what was formerly the Nintendo Revolution.

Seriously, explain all the rationale behind the choice all you want, but that name is just a terrible, terrible fit for the American market. I can only assume that the name was picked by NCL and that NOA had nothing to do with it.

I'm absolutely stunned, shocked, and dumbfounded.

Official prediction: Gamers everywhere will go back to saying "I'm playing Nintendo." In that light, maybe this is a good move. But only in that light. In every other light, this is bowling-shoe ugly.

I'm not sure what to think about it.  I'm defending it, since there's overwhelming whining going on, and I always have to argue against overwhelming whining because I hate it more than anything, but I'm not sure.
I like the name.  I think it's fun, and kind of silly, and unique.  My friends and I will definitely have fun messing around with the name.  If you can have fun with a game console's name, you're on the right track, I'd say.
But there's an obviously negative feeling overall.  Which I think is ridiculous, get over your "cool" video games and delusions of grandeur and realize you're a bunch of nerds who wouldn't know "cool" if it went down on you.  But still, gotta take that into account, because as unfortunate as it is, these are the people who will be buying it.

Humanity's in such a pitiful state.  Even our fun has to be serious
