Is that Megalon model all they sent you? I was hoping for more screens. Great interview though!

Perhaps it's just my bias for the source, as I love Godzilla, but I think this is definitely shaping up to be one of the more graphically impressive titles coming to the Wii this year.

It's not you, the game is graphically impressive. Kinda sad though since most developers are so damn lazy. You know, I was actually able to squeeze out SOME info out of Mr. Strange on gamefaqs about the graphic engine.

There have been six Millennium films thus far. The design is for the one that appeared in Godzilla: 2000 (1999), even though it was close to the one from Megaguirus with the exception of the latter being a overt green. Both had red beams, though, which wasn't dropped until the next film in 2001. The 2002/2003 designs were close to those first two, but lost the "alligator head" look.

I'm personally a fan of the appearance from 2001, but the game will most likely see a return of the 1999 and 1990's versions.

Godzilla '99
Godzilla '00
Godzilla '01
Godzilla '02/'03
Godzilla '04

I forgot to mention earlier I like the look of '01-'03.

Also Pretty cool about the screens and like.  How did you get the exclusive?

No, they sent images for all four of the currently seen characters. I just linked to the Megalon one as I liked it the best:

It helps when you are the largest "Godzilla focused" site on the net, both in terms of hits and content.

We have had a running relationship with Atari too going as far back as G: DAMM for the Gamecube, where I got to interview the producer, Kirby Fong. He stepped down during "Save the Earth", but a contributor of ours called Chris Mirjahangir really set his eyes on picking back up that relationship for this new game, and has been in constant contact with them, both through e-mail and phone, to make this possible. It sounds like we are going to get a lot more "eye turning" content this time around, which I'm thrilled about.

Really excited about this game too, and hope it does very well when it goes on sale as I would love to see this series continue, and remain on the Wii.

The actual screens do look good but who but the helmet on Godzilla in that one?

... umm... true.

Actually, recent items to drop off my purchase list and move into "ponderable" territory are: Medal of Honor: Vanguard, Super Paper Mario (roommate borrowed this one and beat it), Driver: Parallel Lines and even RE 4 Wii.

Has anyone else seen the gameplay footage? Much better than I had expected, and easily one of the better looking Wii games to date. So fluid, so awesome... can't wait.

It seems that in the reveal of the Seattle stage on Gametrailers confirms Rodan, which is great for me because he was my best character in DAMM.

Poor Rodan, this is the second game where he has been revealed in an overhand fashion (last time it was through a loading screen...).

Well it wasn't intentional the first time for STE, but who knows now... I'm glad that he's finally confirmed, though, as he is my favorite character from the franchise.

Time to bump this thread. I personally am quite interested in the game, especially after I read that the copies that have been reviewed were not final and that the team has been working on the game continuously. Sadly I have a feeling that only Arbok and I will be buying it.

I'll still be first in line to buy it... but yeah, not a ton of press, especially positive press, for the title outside of the niche Godzilla fandom.

Anyway, still trying our best to promote the title to our readers.

Well it was a relief to hear that the reviews were based off unfinished review copies, and it sounds like the developers care about it. So we'll see, I do have my copy reserved though. It is kind of funny but it sounds like it was the Sony version that got gimped.

It did. The PS2 version is largely just a update of the previous game, Save the Earth, with only two new characters added (Battra and Obsidius), both of which were clones of existing monsters in terms of play styles. The story does relate to Unleashed, but otherwise not a huge amount of change. Still decent, I suppose, if one has never played the previous game before.

Still, the real work went into developing the Wii version of the game.
