This game is kind of amazing.  It's not perfect, I get the complaints.  But I am having a really good time with it.

This reminds me of the MarioKart 8 review.  Where the game is being compared to some sort of ideal, that most Nintendo fans aren't looking for.  Nintendo is clearly going for couch co-op fun.  I do not care about online play or a sound test mode.  I just want the mini-games to be fun.

I haven't played it since the Wii.  But I played it a lot back then.  I got half way through the 3rd stage on my first run.  I am definitely going to go back to beat it.

the controls really are slightly better with the Wii, the Pro-controller was a little awkward.  I think I'll try using the joycons next time.

I've gone through most of this game with friends, but now I'm really getting to put some time into it since it came out on the Wii U.  This game is an absolute 10.  The level design, the control, the system of getting new characters with bandages along with finding and beating tough extra levels, the dark world, the replays. 


This whole thing just works.  Absolutely amazing game.

Thanks for the response.  I was unaware of many of those details mentioned about how Rare joined with Microsoft.  That does adjust how I see it.


I do think there is something odd about how gamer friendly Microsoft is while profits don't seem that important.  What's their long term plan?  Or are they just having trouble understanding the video game market and are figuring it out as they go.


Certainly the Xbox make a lot of gamers happy, I hope the question was taken in good fun.

The review seems informative.  The 8 just seems silly.  I'm guessing, just like Mario Kart 8, he's undervaluing the great things this game has and giving too much weight to the flaws.

[size=78%]I'm playing through DK 94 right now and it is surprisingly good.  I'm in no huge rush to pick up tipping stars, but I'm a sucker for puzzles on the go so I'm sure I'll pick it up at some point.  I love these games and I'm glad it's a on going series, but I do wish they'd impliment some new gameplay.  Maybe this shared levels will add something, but I'm worried it won't add much.[/size]

I'm planning to skip this one.  I'm hoping and kind of assuming that they won't put any games out that I won't be able to play elsewhere, even if I have to wait for the next console.  Right now, this puppy is just a hot mess.

406 plays just fine,
407, it downloads just fine.  But when I go to play it, the ipod thinks about it for a second and then spits me back to the podcast menu.

Thank you for the concern.  Still no dice.  I use iTunes and a very old Ipod touch, which I assume is the issue.  I was able to download the mp3 directly from the page and for whatever reason that worked.


I loved James's intro.  And you guys did a very good job of keeping it entertaining while playing.  I do think I missed out a little not watching the video.  But these days I'm delivering mail 12 hours a day.  So I have very little time for videos and far too much time for audio.

I would like to sell my house and move towns.  The animals get to do it.  I'd also love for the towns to have different sizes and to just completely change up.

I'm wondering that too.  Though from Guillaume's description on the podcast, it sounds like it's just whether you want to play on the go or have have the gamepad/TV.
