You work at Disney World, SilverGrey? Did you ever work with a guy named Luke Hammer? He is a friend of mine and a magician by trade now. I think he did the Summer College Internship multiple Summers a while back (he called it the College Slavery Work Program).

I don't believe so, but I may have run across them when I used to live in London.

Name doesn't ring any bells, but I'm sure if I played the Six Degrees of Disney I'd know him through one person or another.  Working there is like working in the world's largest small town.  And ah yes, I am a former Slave myself, only recently graduated to being a 'real person'.  I'm not there full-time anymore, through several life circumstances I moved away for grad school and can't move back till the middle of next year, and who knows by then I may have other plans.  I miss the sunshine so much!  So I'm only there periodically for a week or so, it's fun to show up at a workplace you haven't been to in four months and have people not even realize you were gone.  Do you remember what sort of role he had when he worked there?  And is he really a magician?

I think he said he played different characters but I'm not sure. I'd have to ask him again. He is a magician and a pretty good one at that. He tends to always be playing around with a deck of cards shuffling them in his hand or whatever.

SilverGrey, I believe we walked past it and were able to peer inside, but I'm not going to guarantee that :p

I will say it was one of our better, more enjoyable Disney trips, and we, as a whole group, haven't had as much fun since.  That's mostly because everyone but my father has grown worn down on the normal routine, so it made an excellent change of pace.  This year we did a Segway tour of Ft. Wilderness in order to change things up, which was a lot of fun.  We also went to that musical revue dinner show in Ft. Wilderness, and while the food was good, personally, I didn't much enjoy the show.

Anyways, it is a gigantic place, that couldn't be stated any more clearly!  I don't really think that much ground could be called a small town!  There's four main theme parks, probably tens of large hotels, Downtown Disney, which is the size of a small theme park itself, the cruise ship program, and who knows what I've forgotten.  I wouldn't guess any one employee would know any other unless they directly work with each other, myself.

Yeah, it's a pretty massive operation, largest single-site employer in the US, which is nice because nearly all the businesses in Orlando offer Cast discounts so I miss that when I want to like.....buy shoes or order pizza or get a new cell phone plan that I don't get discounts on every thing imaginable.  As far as people knowing each other, there's a lot of movement within the company on the front-lines so you get to know a lot of people that way, but once you get up to Management and Administration you tend to sit for years (unless Disney decides to downsize and condense like last year when they got rid of half the managers for my area).  It is probably one of the weirdest places in the world to work, and it's inhabited by very weird people as well, it almost has to be.  If your dad likes the tours you could always set him up on the 7 hour Backstage Magic tour that is behind-the-scenes for 3 of the 4 parks.

Oh ooops.  Again, not sure what the argument is.  If it's 'which character is usually  played by a man in the parks because the costume is too big for most any woman' then the answer is Ursula.  It's all about context.

Hey!  Sometimes Ursula is so big a costume can't even be used!

Like when Maleficent appears in dragon form.

If the debate is between Ursula and Maleficent, I think you all are seriously underestimating Snow White's Queen.  I mean sure Maleficent wanted Sleeping Beauty dead, but how bad can it be to die of a pricked finger?  Snow White's Queen requested for Snow White to be murdered and have her heart cut out and put into a box!  And she had some pretty wicked magical powers as well.  She's a nasty piece of work and the first of the Disney 'wicked stepmother' club.

The question was which would win in a fight. Most of Ursula's power in the movie came from King Trident's Trident, a stolen object. Therefore, without it she is nothing compared to Maleficent who can call upon 'all the powers of Hell' in battle.

It's a tough call since we don't know how much power Ursula had at her disposal before the trident.  I mean she apparently had the power to turn former merpeople into those little, I dunno, gray critter things.  She also had the power to transform Ariel into a human (and she probably could have done it without taking her voice) so Ursula's powers are not to be discounted.

I like SilverGrey again. Ursula had domain over souls, you can't get anymore powerful then that, to have the power to capture souls.

I LOVE Madam Mim!!!  Sword in the Stone is a seriously under-appreciated Disney film.
And she really didn't say  no purple dragons.

So that begs the question:
Who would win in the fight between Madam Mim as a dragon and Maleficent as a dragon?
Or how about Pete's Dragon?
Or The Reluctant Dragon?

Man Disney's got a lot of dragons.....

I've never seen the Black Cauldron, but  having read the Wikipedia synopsis I don't see a mention of a dragon as any sort of a main character.  So i don't know.

I have no memory of a dragon in Cauldron either.

There are a lot of Dragons in Disney lore. Though, would you really consider Madam Min a villain? I always considered her more of a wizardry rival than a flat-out villain.
