...Immortals Fenyx Rising?

I see it on sale cheap on the eShop.

Around the winter holidays, the physical version was on sale for $15 in the US. I almost picked up as an impulse buy. I do remember hearing about some performance issues on Switch. Broodwars, did you play this on Switch or Playstation?

Great review! IGN also gave the game a 9/10. The metacritic average is currently at 82/100 so not too shabby.

Thanks Luigi Dude, that is exactly what I wanted to know!

Still planning on picking up Fire Emblem sometime next weekend. I feel like a cartridge with both Persona's could have sold decently but it doesn't even look like Japan is getting that.

It looks like Luigi Dude and broodwars both played all the TMNT games. I am going to start that collection soon, but will just be playing one game every once in a while I wanted to start with Turtles in Time, but and deciding between the SNES version and arcade version. I am guessing the arcade version looks nicer, but the SNES version is better balanced for completing without needing unlimited lives/credits. What are your thoughts on the better at home experience?

Based on the predictions thread there are at least five Khushrenadas. I would think that at least one of them would have the time to host this game  :D

Games I beat in 2022:
- Kena: Bridge of Spirits
Games I played but did not complete:
- Rive
- Pac-Man World Re-Pac

I am curious about these games. I am on the fence with Kena. Would you recommend it to others?
For Rive, I really enjoyed, enough so to go back and do some post-game challenges. What was it that made you fall off that one?  Sort of the same question for Pac-Man. I have it for Switch, so I will be giving it a try eventually, just wondering why you did not complete it.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Upcoming Switch games! What's on your wishlist

Well I guess I will get things going here.

I have Persona 4 golden on Vita and plenty of an Atlus backlog to be able to pass on 3 and 4 on Switch.
Fire Emblem Engage I will be picking up the week of release. After replaying Three Houses recently, I am sufficiently hyped. Kirby's Return to Dream Land on Wii is my favorite Kirby but I have still to 100% that game so it feels weird to buy it again. Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse is the one I am most excited about. I see we are getting the download only treatment in NA again, but since the switch is region free - I will be picking up a physical copy when I visit Japan later this year. At this point I trust Platinum with any non-licensed game so I will be getting Bayonetta Origins, just might not get it until the fall. Obviously I buy every Mega Man release. I tried waiting on a price break for the Zero collection and they started to disappear from store shelves. I did get a used copy for about half price, but I think I might just pay full price like I did with the first two collections. With all the delays for Zelda I sort of lost my hype but will be picking that up day one regardless.

"Nintendo won't release a Star Tropics remake developed by Platinum Games"
Personally, I would pre-order the special edition day 1. Make it happen Platinum.

With 2022 officially over it is time to start another year of gaming. What better time then to post your records of games played, beaten, or completed. Personally I like to hear what system the games were played on, how long they took, whether you beat them any% or 100%, and if they were first plays or replays. Of course, feel free to post as little or as much as you want.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: What will Nintendo release in 2023?

Here are my predictions for 2023:
  • Hardware -No new switch hardware is released in 2023, other than special editions
  • Movie - The Super Mario Bros. Movie is well received by critics, with a MetaCritic average >75, the user score is less than the critics score.
  • Announced Game - Pikmin 4 is released in summer 2023 and has some cool use of joy-cons
  • Announced Game - Metroid Prime 4 - we get a trailer and release window of 2024
  • New Game - A new game from GoodFeel that is not a Yoshi game
  • New Game - A new Mario game that combines 2D and 3D mario
  • New Game - A new party game from ND cube
  • New Game - A Switch port of Kid Icarus Uprising from 3DS
  • New Game - A new Donkey Kong game (focus is on mine cart levels)
  • NSO - Adds DLC for a game and a new (portable) platform e.g. GameBoy

It is funny how some of these appear in most people's lists. I don't think we are copying each other, we just seem to be on the same wavelength as nintendo fans. Also, thanks for all the work involved in fact-checking these Order.RSS. Now off to make predictions for 2023...

TalkBack / Re: Nintendo World Report End Of Year Awards 2022
« on: December 31, 2022, 10:26:58 AM »
The Forums also held 2022 awards and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 won best Nintendo Game. Atari 50 was nominated for best Multiplatform game but I don't think any of us have gotten around to playing it yet. I know it is still on my backlog. For that award we decided on TMNT Shredder's Revenge which did get an honorable mention here.

Back when 2 came out, I decided not to play it because I never finished 1 on 3DS or X because of late game difficulty. Then 1 DE came out with the easy mode and that really made me love the game. So yes, I played 3 on easy and I still loved it. I plan to start playing 2 very soon and I will be using whatever easy mode it had.
I think the trick to these games (and many RPGs that seem difficult) is do one of 3 things:
  • Learn the systems and optimize them
  • Do every side quest so that you are OP for the difficult boss battles
  • Grind to level up enough that you can brute force the difficulty spikes
1. is the tough to figure out for games like Xenoblade since the systems are so complex. 2. is my preferred way to tackle these games but stretches the playtime considerably. 3. works in a pinch and is what I did on X, but ends up feeling like busy work.

I wishlisted this after it was mentioned on the NVC podcast. Sounds like it might be best to play handheld to reduce lag. Make sure to put your TV in game mode kiddos.

I don't expect them to support online play for Splatoon 1 for very much longer since 3 is out. Same with MK8 on Wii U. Mario Maker might get support for a little longer that those two.

TalkBack / Re: River City Girls 2 (Switch eShop) Review
« on: December 21, 2022, 11:38:00 AM »
I ordered the special edition from Limited Run RC2 and it actually included a download code. So now I don't have to wait another year to be able to play the game. I don't remember being bothered by load times with Shantae and the Seven Sirens so I don't think that will bother me here.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: 2022 NWR Forum Awards - Best Nintendo Game
« on: December 16, 2022, 03:56:00 PM »
I'm half-interested in almost the entire list, but Bayo 3 is probably the only one I'll actually pick up at some point.

Bayonetta 3 is a great game and is pretty short, unless you are trying to 100% it. Kirby is the big one on this list that I want but don't have. At this point I will wait for a price drop. So many great Switch exclusives in one year and a lot of variety too.

Almost time to tally up those 2022 predictions Order.RSS  ;)

Capcom did right with the cartridge this time.  :o
Its hard to tell about a price drop on this one. The Z collection became sort of scarce before the price dropped real low and I ended up getting it used.
