Just what can we expect out of Nintendo in Japan in terms of 3DS games?

Nintendo showed off a list of games that they expect to release up until April of this year, as well as beyond, during their Corporate Management Policy Briefing/Third Quarter Financial Results Briefing today.

Some of the titles listed are Japanese-only releases, but the majority of them will be coming to other regions later in the year. The first list refers to the games coming out before the end of the current fiscal year (March 31, 2012):

• Mario and Sonic at the London Olympic Games
• Kid Icarus: Uprising
• Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance
• Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D
• Theatrhythm Final Fantasy
• Hatsune Miku and Future Stars: Project Mirai
• New Love Plus
• Harvest Moon: The Land of Origin

• Dynasty Warriors VS.

The following games are expected to be released in the next fiscal year (April 1, 2012 to March 31, 2013):

 What would be really unusual is if Nintendo didn’t release Luigi’s Mansion 2, Paper Mario, etc… this year considering they have already distributed 3D trailers through the eShop. I think these were pretty strongly anticipated for this year since they unveiled these games at the same time as Mario Kart 7 which has already been released.
Breaking news: Mario and Sonic at the 2012 Olympic Games is scheduled to be released this year.

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy is really coming to the US and Animal Crossing is coming sooner than I anticipated. Great news!

Nintendo generally follows the rule of "feature a game at E3, it's out by next E3." It gets broken occasionally for delays (Metroid: Other M) or big productions (Skyward Sword, almost every Zelda game ever). Following that logic, I'd be surprised if Luigi's Mansion 2 isn't out by E3 2012. I think it is the next major first-party release in North America, likely coming out in April or May.

If it misses that, it is delayed for some reason or another, which is of course a possibility.

Also, while Paper Mario and Animal Crossing have been at the past two E3s in trailer form, they've never been featured. I'd expect one or both of them to be a focus of Nintendo's 3DS line-up presentation at E3. Mario Tennis, from the harder note of the 2012 as opposed to Paper Mario and AC's "TBD," might be the summer game.

Sweet God. Another Mario game for the 3DS next financial year already... They're really crankin' these bad boys out. Don't get me wrong I love it more then most things. But I really want to see Mario shine on the Wii U also!

3D Mario for Wii U has been in development since July, at least.
