I'm glad they're confirming it's still in development, as we hadn't seen hide nor hair of it in some time.

I guess you could say Capcom's always been a little nutty.

Yeah, it was a pretty ballsy move on their part to organize something so early.

I don't hate Eternal Darkness - I was just really late to the party, and it plays a lot slower than I'd prefer. Nothing against it - it's just not my thing.

They were planning to record something with Karl subbing for someone else, but I don't know if it ever happened.
We recorded. It should be coming soon.

I actually have some video of that as well. I might throw it up later.

I thought the panel was a lot of fun!  I agree that the live radio trivia portion was slightly chaotic (people weren't sure whether to shout out the answer, cut in front of a questioner at the mic to give the answer, wait for the panel to finish answering a question, etc) but it seemed to work out fine.

I brought my gf Julia with me to the panel.  It was her first ever video game podcast and she got to see it live!  I am so glad I took her to see you guys first, because she had a blast (especially at lunch afterward) and now wants to listen to RFN!  We also went to the IGN podcast, but she was totally bored at that one, considering they focused almost exclusively on in-jokes that even I did not get some of the time.

For anyone that hasn't had the opportunity to meet the NWR crew, they are a very cool group of people who are as interesting and fun as you might expect.  It was also great to have the chance to chat with some fellow listeners after the panel.  It was these kinds of experiences that really made the weekend great. This was my first PAX, but now I am convinced me that I need to make this a yearly trip :)
Oh, man, that dim sum was a great choice.

Super glad you had a good time, dude!

I'm in the middle of the podcast and am not having any problem with the background trivia music. I thought it worked fine. Of course it will sound slightly chaotic to someone who wasn't there but its more than tolerable; entertaining even. Congrats to all.

Just curious how many folk showed up in the audience? Last year was a bit sparse. Was attendance up this time?

Attendance actually went up quite a bit. Last year there was no line at all and we basically just had a nice stream of trickle-ins. This year the line actually wrapped back around. The enforcers had a count of around 80 people who came in during the beginning, but that doesn't count the people who came in after it got started. Definitely a nice step up from last year.

I think it's safe to say that RFN Live will be a yearly institution at PAX East from here on out.

Here's a great picture of most of the crew (sans Lindemann, who I believe was in the bathroom down the hall at the time, as well as Lauren who was taking the picture, I think) post-panel. Right afterwards we had an AMAZING lunch in Chinatown.

Clockwise from the lower right, it's Neal, James, Karlie, TYP, me, Jonny and Mike Sklens.

Will this be available in video format or should I just download the audio file?
We taped it, but it could be a while before that footage is available. If you have any interest in getting the panel within the next week, this is pretty much the only way to go. If you can wait it out, we'll have video, yeah.

Hey, folks. Just wanted to let you know that the panel audio is cut and encoded and pretty much ready to go. We're just uploading it now on the REALLY slow con center Wi-Fi. Once it's up, Greg can put it up on the site and get it to all of you. If I had to put a timeline on it, I'd expect it to be done uploading within an hour. Hopefully less, but it's literally like 25 KB/sec. Nothing we can do about that right now. Even so, you should be getting your RFN fix around the usual time.

This has bugged me since your last PAX podcast, but is it really necessary to add on the tagline "A Live Nintendo Podcast for Grown-Ups"?  You guys have a really well-respected podcast that I've heard mentioned on several other well-respected podcasts (such as Weekend Confirmed), and that tag-line sounds unintentionally desperate ("Please listen to us!  We're a podcast FOR GROWN-UPS!").
Not to speak for Jonny, but I always interpreted that as being tongue in cheek. The use of the term "grown up" just kind of sounds silly, so it's a way to tell people that we don't take ourselves that seriously.

I still think we should've named this sequel panel "Radio Free Nintendo: A Live Nintendo Podcasts for Man-Children."

East 2011 should be even better than last, which is a pretty tall order. I am beyond psyched.

This year, every 'cast is a drunkcast.

Have fun getting drunk by yourself at 10:00AM in anticipation of the panel. Maybe another early morning trip to Sam Adams is in order?

I vote YES to this proposition.

Fact: Crash Team Racing is better than Mario Kart 64.

Fact: The best kart racer of all time is Mario Kart DS.

Fact: Mario Kart 64 controls like ass and has the worst art in the history of the sub-franchise.

It's super bizarre to see the video of this event seven months down the line, mostly because it's from the audience's perspective.

I also noticed that Mike kept tugging at his beard, which is something I have a habit of doing, too (not in this video, obviously).

It is now!
