Jonny, thanks for the memories! I have enjoyed the show for years in large part because of your insight. Best wishes for your future.

How sick would this make you?

The Zelda Team was plundered for mobile game development. They aren't going to make themselves.

I have wanted to see what Nintendo could do for years with an online shooter, but to actually see Splatoon was still pretty amazing.

Am I blushing? I think I'm blushing!  Maybe some of these Star Children can come play for the Cowboys so we suck a little less next year.

I agree with Shy Guy. I always thought it was a V for victory.

TalkBack / Re: Disney Infinity: Good Idea, Bad Idea
« on: October 25, 2013, 06:38:50 PM »
I didn't hate "The Black Cauldron" but I was also completely enamored with the book series it was based on back in junior high. Following much of the logic put forward against it, I would have to guess that "The Sword and the Stone" would also fall in the bad idea list.

I would add a "Zach Miller Alert." The "M" in M rated games stands for Miller don't you know.  Although I think the game your referencing is actually Teen rated.

For what its worth, my 9 year old daughter really liked it.  We will see if her initial excitement wears off.

I really feel that Nintendo doesn't think they need the 3rd parties.  They seem to have shifted their focus to indies and by all accounts have done a solid job courting them.  It will be interesting to see  if they can survive as the Nintendo+indie platform.  I don't think they will see a big sales jump from courting indies unless they somehow manage to luck out and get the next big hit like Minecraft.  Indies aren't going to sell platforms, but right now that seems to be the basket Nintendo is putting their eggs in.

I just spent hours fighting with the DRM on my computer and digital movie downloads.  Three service reps later I still can't get the movies to download.  Guess what my stance is on DRM.  Not for piracy, but making legitimate purchases so hard to use is ridiculous.

Please put these into Montana stores!

Wow. I was thinking about picking up IV after playing the demo.  Now, maybe I will wait.

One of the few bright spots of the Nintendo Direct.

What this direct showed me is if Nintendo doesn't think its broke don't fix it.  3D land was great make another one with cats. Mario Kart Wii and 7 also awesome, combine them into one.  Donkey Kong Country=Awesome but needs Dixie Kong. Done! Everyone loves Smash Bros. Make a new one that appears to be exactly the same as the old one.

No new third party announcements and Retro's game is a major disappointment IMO.  No discussion about unified accounts. No GBA games.

Here's to 2014 if Nintendo can make it that long.

Pretty disappointed, but hey 2014 looks good.

Crossplay on GBA games between 3ds and WiiU with unified accounts

A mature exclusive like the Last of Us

Nintendo to flip the shooting genre on its head, like it did with the fighting genre when it released Smash Bros., with a new IP. Kind of like Fur Fighters from back in the day but good.

I enjoyed the 360 version of this game, but I wonder how the circle pad will be for balancing your rider.

TalkBack / Re: E3 Demos Playable at Best Buy
« on: May 18, 2013, 12:01:23 AM »
Of course they have to be at Best Buy and not on the e shop.  You have to get people who don't own a Wii U excited to buy a Wii U, so put the demos into the hands of the public at large not those of us who have already bought one.  Plus this keeps one of the major retailers happy by driving some people to their store, and the Wii U needs all the good will it can get

This was one franchise that seemed to be a perfect fit for the gamepad.  It could have been a showcase title for dual gamepad support. (Like that is ever going to happen)

Sony has an uphill battle in the US.  They need to convince Xbox owners to switch to their system or buy it along with an Xbox.  I don't think this press conference did a lot to convince people to drop their Live accounts and friends lists and make the jump.  To me all they have done is make a gaming a little prettier, and yes, AI will also improve, but I ma relatively confident the 720 will match it in all the ways that count.

Now, this isn't to say that Microsoft won't screw up with their console (like no used games) and piss of their fan base, but that has little to do with this conference and more to do about the next one.

I also feel that if Nintendo can just get some games out that show some real innovation, they will be fine.

Wow, I have a lot more thoughts, but I am so tired I can't think straight, so POST!

TalkBack / Re: Rayman Legends Devs Protesting Delay
« on: February 12, 2013, 07:08:27 PM »
Ubisoft could be allowing it because it might win back a few Wii U owners.  It puts the developers back on the side of the gamers, and if you saw Ancel's Twitter the other day he was begging Wii U owners not to boycott the game because it wasn't his teams fault that it was being delayed.  So maybe this is a solidarity ploy to try and help sales later?  But I doubt it's anything that devious.
