I bought this game a few weeks ago and felt it was too expensive, but I was bored so I took a gamble on it. If you are expecting an epic and robust Samurai Zelda-type adventure, you'll be disappointed. It's a short and simple game. you dodge and counter enemies with swords, spears, projectiles. You can collect gold and and a consecutive perfect hit count ("precision points") which you can sell for more gold. You spend that gold in towns on equipment for the battles (health & weapons items), and play a few mini-games if you choose to do so. That's pretty much the sum of it.

But for this sale price: I'd say if you are on the fence about buying it, at this price it's a not a bad decision. It may not have taken long to finish, but I enjoyed the game. It's simple but it has some charm. It's art is easy on the eyes, the 3D effects are done well, and the controls are simple and solid. I liked the music and sound effects too.

I hear a lot of people being harsh on this title. But I'm glad I purchased it, and I'd buy a sequel if they ever release one.

This is a great game. I bought it off Steam for $1.49 a while back. which is why I can't bring myself  to pay 8 or even 5 dollars for it on 3DS.  Cheap? Maybe. But sorry I just feel 8 dollars ir ridiculous. The sale price needs to become the normal price; then discount that price down 3 dollars and I would consider.

Either way I can't knock Nintendo for trying to give us a deal. Hopefully they will make sales on eShop and VC more common practice.

TalkBack / Re: Why Nintendo Direct Was Better Than E3
« on: June 23, 2012, 07:33:33 PM »
I agree with the headline here, I think these Nintendo direct videos are a fantastic idea. that is, if we keep getting them. I feel that if Nintendo could keep it's consumers "in the loop" like this on a routine basis, it could go a long way in growing brand-loyalty (not considering the single analog 3DS XL "issue" announced in the last one, but that is a different topic).

I'd personally like to see this take the place of the old Nintendo Power days, when we had things like "pak watch" and things alike. I just feel like back in those days, they were more open about what they were doing.

A good example to compare: PlayStation. They post daily on their blog about their consoles, upcoming games, updates. etc = and answer questions right there in the comments personally. every day. also, the playstaion blog "share" feature where you can recommend ideas for games, updates, ect, and have others vote it up or down, to show EVERYONE including Sony, what people seem to want the most (or least). If Nintendo had their own version of this, it could really make an impact in my opinion. Imagine if they implemented such a thing and used the Nintendo direct videos as a feedback tool for them....

I'm with the group of people that think's StarFox. I don't know why, but ever since I sat in my ship in Metroid Prime 3, all I can think is "when are they doing an actual StarFox game?"

A SIDE NOTE: Does anyone besides me remember the days of things like "Pak Watch" BEFORE the internet, when we actually were told which games were being developed? Damn you, internets; whining about your spoilers and such.... i miss those days sometimes...

I'm holding out for the Wii U version. I just have a feeling the Wii U's control pad may improve the console MMO experience. At least I hope so.

Great! I am excited about the game. But, I wish Nintendo would have announced a Wii U version. It's going to be hard for the Wii version to compete with the Graphically superior (I'm not a graphics whore, but they 360/PS3 version sure is pretty - and we can all tell those screenshots aren't going to look like that on Wii).

Besides the game may have been interesting with the Wii U controller pad. a paintbrush, and a touch screen... lots of potential there. Makes me want another release of Okami that plays on the Wii U controller just thinking about it.

TalkBack / Re: Wii U Has 8 GB of Internal Storage
« on: June 10, 2012, 10:37:10 AM »
7 years is not a decade. 10 years is a decade. Over a decade means over 10 years. Learn English. You realize that Nintendo markets to different audiences. One audience wouldn't really care for that a lot of memory on a game system, remember the 4GB 360 model? If you care so much about storage, just buy a harddrive yourself instead of asking Nintendo to overprice the Wii U because you wanted them to add an HDD.

My English is fine. Perhaps you should learn research, and perhaps proof-reading or logic. The PS2 released in 2000; that's over a decade just as i said. The PS2 came equipped with an internal slot for adding a HDD. It may not of supported any games at the release, but the option was there for when you needed it- out of the box. As for using the 4GB 360 Model, I complained they were not offering internal HDD support"out of the box" as the PS2 did - a very successful console. The 4GB Xbox 360 offers the same option. It may have come with less internal flash, but it still had internal HDD support from the very minute any consumer purchased the console, if the consumer chooses to do so. Your logic, as well as your insults - are flawed.I am entitled to my opinion just as anyone else is. If you don't like just keep scrolling past it like the rest of the internet, or do some research to base on a valid opinion of your own. Ignorant insults directed at post comments add nothing to the actual topic unless perhaps the comment deviated or provided invalid information without source.

So Japan gets Zelda II and we don't? Why do you think Nintendo is always doing this? Nintendo wants us to believe they love us; so they show it by a decades-old habit of giving Japan everything great and... well.... maybe giving it to us later... or in a gimped version.... or not at all.  I'm not really trying to rant, I just wish Nintendo would stop doing shady things this. It sometimes makes me feel like they are slightly/unknowingly prejudice to Non-Japanese Consumers (Yes, I said it...).

Be bold Nintendo. Throw us a bone every now and then. It could go a long way in building more trust in the relationships with your consumers; and fans.

Well I find this disappointing. You'd think with all the work they spent fixing it after last year's E3 such as the Controllers, dual touch screen pad support, etc, that theiy would have taken a clue from succesful consoles released over a DECADE ago and added Native/Internal HDD support out of the box.

Just when I was getting excited, now I'm not as much. Good luck trying to win over existing Xbox and PS3 owners now Nintendo.

EPIC FAIL.

I couldn't help but notice there wasn't any mention of Epic Mickey 2 being a Wii U title. I would't mind playing it on the Wii but knowing there is going to be a nicer looking version for HD consoles, would make me disappointed if we don't see a Wii U version to match.

TalkBack / Re: Wii U Screenshots by Friends Will Be Spoiler-Free
« on: June 03, 2012, 08:24:51 PM »
Nintendo isn't really ignorant to the risk here. Xbox Live is just one example of an online service that has dealt with that sort of thing for years now. I applaud Nintendo for being bold here in one way: the new ability to draw a tweet-like note to friends. There's a whole can of new possibility of "risk" in that feature, but I dont care,

I am excited about it anyway as I believe it will add a new experience that may come in handy. he ability to draw notes/tips to help in games is going to be. We'll be able to do cool stuff like draw maps, puzzle tips, etc.

TalkBack / Re: Gearbox Software Says Nice Things About Wii U
« on: June 03, 2012, 05:12:29 PM »
This is very nice to hear. It's well known that if developer's don't like to program for a console, it detrimentally damages that consoles ability to succeed.  Look at history: Atari 2600 was hard to program for. It had games half-baked and bad enough to crash and kill the whole market. The Jaguar was hard to program for, and it helped to kill that console. The Sega Saturn had the same problem, and thought it had some good games, it suffered as well.

Not that Nintendo has never had this problem: but for them it's not that the consoles are awkward to program for, but instead lacking in abilities of competitors consoles. I give you two examples to ponder - the N64 and the Wii.  Ever play Final Fantasy 64? No, and why is that? because the Carts (vs CD's) restricted the developer's ability to make games with all the content and video that could easily fit onto and be read off of a CD.

And the Second example being the Wii... We all know this one. The Wii lacked in performance capability and online infrastructure. And it obviously suffered for it with some of the same consequences as the N64 - like great games going to other consoles. (think about it: how many "market-dominating" or "console-selling" games that are NOT 1st party can you think of that were Wii exclusives? ...And before you go mentioning things like Monster Hunter - remember it's on Sony PSP's too thus making it non-exclusive.)

So I'll sum up my rant and say this. People will find ways to worry or gripe about Wii U. People can gripe about games being ported from 360 and PS3 to fill the Wii U's library. BUT, is this really a bad thing? I say No! The fact that developers want to develop for and aren't scared to praise Nintendo's efforts with the Wii U, is good news in terms of it's potential to succeed.  ;D

Cool, can't wait to see it. If they are going to be talking about hardware, I hope they confirm the version of the WiiU controller with analog sticks instead of slide pads. Please Nintendo, make that happen.

Slide pads are fine for my 3DS, it's a portable i can understand the need for them with the system's design in mind. But for my home Nintendo console, I want actual analog sticks. Like my N64, Gamecube, and Wii had. Why ruin a good thing; that's what I say.

Perhaps the Amount of Characters for each "scratch off" indicates the number of characters in the title's name(s). If that's so, then I don't see a Pikmin 3 at Launch. But I did notice one of them has enough characters for New Super Mario Bros. 2 WiiU...   - Just Sayin'

Also: a new Starfox game would be nice. A REAL new Starfox game. Wouldn't it be great if that's what Retro has been doing?

This game was the main reason I bought a 3DS, the original is one of my favorite games of all time.

That makes two of us then. I bought the Zelda Limited Edition 3DS. It's true I really wanted to buy it anyway because it looked great, but the real reason that pushed me to the point of actually purchasing the 3DS was finding it was the gaming system that was getting the next Luigi's Mansion game.

The original Luigi's Mansion on GameCube is one of the most unappreciated games of all time. I still play it from time to time.

NWR Feedback / Forum Profile & PSN ID's
« on: March 13, 2012, 12:31:18 PM »
I'm new to the forum, and just finished filling out the information in the "Forum Profile" section of my account. Specidically the part where i can share my ID's from things such as Google, Friend Codes, Xbox Gamertag, etc.

I thought it was odd that pretty much every gaming platform with an online ID was listed, except for PSN ID's.

So, is there a reason there is no option to share PlayStation Network ID's? and if not, Will/could this ever be added?

My 1st Post Here, so here it goes:

About a month ago I was looking for something Nintendo-related to listen to while I am at work, where I listen to a lot of Gaming Podcasts, etc. I found RFN and The Famicast on my iPhone/iTunes, and instantly became a fan. I've even went back and listened to the ones all the way back to January '11 - I have a lot of time at work to do so  ;)

Anyway that's my introduction, this seems like a great community, I look forward to becoming a part of it. I'm interested in getting in on some of the action that goes on here mentioned in the podcast, like the "Retro-active" group I hear so much about, and other stuff like being able to write in to The Famicast crew, as i am also interested in the Japanese side of gaming.

Great forum, thanks for reading my into, and Hello!
