Curious how you can donate to the relief efforts in Japan? Read on to find out how you can help.

The 9.0 earthquake that struck Japan on March 11 was a horrific tragedy that not only caused tsunamis and damage to a nuclear power facility, but also claimed thousands of lives. In light of this catastrophe, Japanese companies and citizens as well as people from all over the world are coming to the aid of Japan. Whether it be through the donation of funds, goods, or manpower, people are really pulling together to help Japan through this trying time. Perhaps some of you out there are wanting to help in some way but don't really know how you can. I thought I could throw out an option for you. The Red Cross is a worldwide organization that exists in nearly every country in the world. If you would like to donate to relief efforts in Japan, you can do so by visiting one of the links below:

American Red Cross

Candian Red Cross

British Red Cross

Australian Red Cross

If you are able to donate, please feel free to do so. Of course, one of the big concerns in Japan right now is the issue with radiation and the nuclear power plant in Fukushima prefecture. While that is definitely a huge problem, there is still a ton of work that needs to be done to rebuild and help out in the areas that were devastated by the earthquake and tsunamis. This is just one of many ways that you can help out.

In my prefecture of Chiba we're having scheduled power cuts and some minor radiation increases, but this pales in comparison with what is happening in the North East of Japan.

There they have no power, or water, higher radiation levels and that's on top of losing their homes, not to mention many of them have lost family members due to the tsunami.

The Japanese are a stoic people and never ask for help, but believe me they need it.
