TalkBack / Re: Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest Heads to Virtual Console

This is good news. I never played this game, but it was always on my radar, so I'll probably download it. More importantly, it's another Square Enix VC release of a slightly more obscure RPG.

Maybe they changed it? I just checked and it says I have until February 16, 2014 to register Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and get the 10 coin bonus.

Hmmm, interesting. Perhaps, for some reason, they are really pushing Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon? It's the only game on my "Earn Coins" list that sits there asking me to register it, though I don't remember ever filling out an "Intend to Buy" survey.

1)Always indicate that you intend to buy a game that appears on the Club Nintendo site. You will have like 3 years to register the game to get those 10 bonus coins.

I think I remember seeing an expiration date of about a month the last time I filled out an "intend to buy" survey.

TalkBack / Re: Looking Back at Red Steel 2, MadWorld and Punch-Out!!
« on: July 23, 2010, 11:31:36 AM »
I really enjoyed Punch-Out!! -- much more than I actually anticipated. The challenges are what really hooked me. They were mostly tough, but due to the pattern-recognition style of the gameplay, I never once found them to be unfair or overly frustrating.

I own Red Steel 2, but it is sitting in my gaming backlog. After Neal's recent comments, I am looking forward to it now more than ever.

TalkBack / Re: Ignition Rebrands, Focuses on Digital Distribution

Interesting that there is no mention of WiiWare or DSiWare on that list.

I also found this interesting, although I can't readily recall any Ignition games other than Muramasa (which is sitting on my shelf and I have yet to play).

“We are thinking the release of new hardware should be good timing for a   dramatic improvement of this situation."

That's all well and good, but that makes it sound like the Wii is doomed to be stuck with what it has now.

TalkBack / Re: Fire Emblem Remake Coming to North America?

I can't seem to find this game listed in the "Game Forecast" section of the magazine. The only reference I've found of it is in the "Power Up" section which refers to it as "News From Japan".

Podcast Discussion / Re: Episode 200: Up Where We Belong

Congratulations guys! Can't thank you enough for the hours of entertaining discussion.

Congrats guys. Great title for the cast. What was that outro song? Sound familiar but can't place it.

I believe it is "Staff Roll" from Super Mario 64. I suppose in this case, it could possibly be Super Mario 64 DS.

TalkBack / Re: Sony Wishes to Work with Nintendo to Promote 3D
« on: July 01, 2010, 04:52:48 PM »
This just reeks of the fact that Sony is in a tight spot with their 3-D solution, and they know it. If there is one barrier to a perfect 3-D experience, it's wearing those glasses. As someone who has no interest in 3-D so as long as those are around, Nintendo is appealing directly to me. I know there are millions of others out there just like me -- far more than there are who could actually afford expensive 3-D glasses and televisions.

I wouldn't worry too much about Sony, though. I am sure they will do alright with their 3-D solution as soon as they get porn companies on board.

TalkBack / Re: No Underwater Stages in Donkey Kong Country Returns
« on: June 28, 2010, 04:30:34 PM »
Even though I am one of those gamers who generally dislikes underwater levels in games, I remember enjoying the water levels when I first played the original Donkey Kong Country, although it may have had something to do with the underwater music, which was awesome. If I recall correctly, water levels in the original were few and far between. They also didn't have proper bonus areas, which was a smart move because it would have probably made the experience overly tedious. I wouldn't mind hearing the aquatic ambience track pop up somewhere in this new Wii iteration.

TalkBack / Re: Upcoming Nintendo DS Games to Look Forward to
« on: June 22, 2010, 08:57:54 PM »
Wow, I had no idea that the new Mario vs. Donkey Kong was actually for the DS. Thought it was either for the 3DS or DSiWare, like the previous installment. Not surprised that I missed this since it was pretty much buried beneath all the 3DS related news at E3.
