TalkBack / RE:Nintendo DS Revealed
« on: August 01, 2004, 10:18:33 AM »
There is a place to hold a stylus, thats for sure.

I think the DS should have setatchable covers like a moblie phone.

Perhaps it does, we just dont know about it yet.

Precisely, and they must make it a bit deeper with more rare, unique pokemon. I bet that the person who manages to capture something like a ledgendary bird would become quite famous in the game world. They could integrate a news feature into the 'PDA' things that they carry around in the game, and maybe even have radio that plays real music or has interviews with people like the programmers.

I imagine that would be the case. I think we will probably see a Tribes-esque situation with the DS multiplayer, where when you go on the multiplayer a number of available servers will pop up and yu will be able to search for your friends on that, either that or you will just dial up their DS with its name. Maybe all DSs will have a number or something. I wonder if Nintendo will allow people to run their own servers for online games. Perhaps you have to buy or download some software, and then you can run your own server.

I don't think that it has Bluetooth per-se. It does feature 'Nintendo's own Communications Protocol'. I think that means those wireless things that you get with Pokemon Leaf Green and Fire Red are built into the DS.

ITEM                   UK Price       AU Price     US Price
GC Game             $72.87        $70.22        $50
GBA Game           $63.76         $49.15        $30

Prices are based on RRPs and all in US dollars.

The US gets games before the UK and Australia and get them for much cheaper, GBA GAMES ARE HALF THE PRICE IN THE US THAN IN THE UK. Plugabugz, 15 pounds is $27.33. You were paying just under the US price.

I would probably be cheaper for you to get wireless internet. That way you can also get faster internet in the price. You could even just get the router nd use an ethernet cable, like I have on the 'base station' computer at my house.

I am worried though, because my router is 802.11b compliant. I hope that the DS can run off this.

Pokemon is MADE to be MMO. They would have to make a character design screen of course, and a much larger world but it would be great as an MMO. The only problem is that you wouldn't get the natural progression in the game. The place that you start at wouldnt be all Lv 2 people. They would have to work around this.

I am sick of people saying that the GBA and DS are the same line because the DS plays GBA games. Well the GC also plays GBA game if you have a GBA player! Does that make it the same as a GBA!!!?!?!?!

Well you could have played on one player, where you dont need a GBA.

I don't think that the DS will connect to the Revoltion, I think it will connect to the GBA2

There will probably be an adapter for this, and possibly one for mobile phones.  You can run a laptop through a WAP mobile phone, so why not a DS?

I will probably pre-order from GAME, because not only do I get double reward points, next day delivery will be free (over 100 quid) and I will pay the lowest price that they have between now and release. Its good, because if they drop the price I pay that but if it goes up I still pay the lower price.

Good thing they bought out EB!

Is there any news on a 3D Online Model?

This is Nintendo listening to it's people.

We do need different colours for the system though! I think it would look nice in red.

TalkBack / RE:Thunderbirds Shipping Soon on GBA
« on: July 27, 2004, 02:23:27 PM »
The main thing I have against this movie is the music. I loathe Busted. They are not even a band. They are just album fillers. And this is the worst line in history: (from the song 'Thunderbirds are Go', from the movie)

'It really is so cool
When spaceships come out of the pool'

Now not only is this a desperate rhyme, it is false. I used to like thunderbirds when I was little. Thunderbird 1 comes out of the pool, but is incapable of space travel. Thunderbird 3, the spaceship, comes out of the library.

Busted, I fart in your general direction.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Possible DS SP?

The 'direct linking violation'

I just found that very funny, despite being anti-Nintendo. It was from this article. It is from before the unveiling of the DS at E3.

PGC rules dictate that you're not alowed to link directly to a picture / movie from another website, unless it's your own.

It was still just a progression from the last one. It was still a game boy. However, I supose it could be counted as totally new because Playstation was preceded by a new console, the playstation 2. However on GBC colour games the only thing was colour, the actual games were no more advanced.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Possible DS SP?
« on: July 27, 2004, 02:19:44 AM »
There was even the Game Boy Colour, in case you are forgetting.

Its all about technology really. The GBP replaced the GB because they had new smaller technology so could fit more into less space. The GBC replaced the GBP because colour screens for it had just been invented, or at least were now affordable. The GBA SP replaced the GBA because not only could they make it smaller, but it was now financially logical to add backlighting.

Maybe we will see 3rd party (or even official Nintendo) stands for the DS, to save our poor wrists.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Metroid Hunters "noline" aspect
« on: July 26, 2004, 02:00:50 PM »
I think Metroid: Hunters should be a spin off of sorts. We have plenty of Metroid explore-em-ups, including MP2 on the horizon. How about we find out why Samus has a reputation as a feared bounty hunter? Nintendo love weaving a backstory, and this is their chance.

I remember seeing screens of a Yu-Gi-Oh game where you play the cards on the touchpad and the battle is done in 3D much like in the TV series on the top screen.

Maybe something like that would be good for Magic.

That could be part of a larger game, maybe a BF1942 style thing on the horizon

Though preferably not another WWII FPS!
