General Gaming / 3D Dot Game Heroes = Legend of Zelda?
« on: October 01, 2009, 04:02:53 PM »
I don't know if anyone else has noticed this game yet but watching some videos on it and it definitely reminds me of Zelda LttP.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYxtqct0USI&feature=player_embedded

First time i saw screenshots of the game I had no idea it was gonna be like Zelda Lttp, as cool as it sounds though I just hope Nintendo doesn't intervene on them.  It's one of a very small list of games I'm looking forward to on my PS3.

General Gaming / Got my 360 repaired....now i need help with DLC
« on: February 15, 2009, 07:25:52 PM »
So I got my 360 repaired (microsoft actually just sent me a refurb) and now my downloadable content doesn't work offline.  If I'm online it works fine but seeing as how I take my 360 downstairs to the living room for rock band it has to be played offline....

Called Microsoft after I followed their instructions that they included with the 360 refurb.  I tried re-downloading all the content through the account management menu and also through the in-game rockband music store.  Over the phone Microsoft had me recover my gamertag which didn't work and wasted a lot of time >:(

So what do i do now?  I also have a few arcade games that are effected by this.  This has already wasted a month's worth of xbox live......so that xbox live month compensation card to me seems like nothing to me.  Just so annoyed right now :(

General Chat / Nintendo & NBA comparisons? WTF.

They are owners of the two wimpiest names in the Italian language. Dudes name is Andrea. The name Luigi strikes fear into the heart of absolutely no one

Some blogger decided to compare NBA stars with Nintendo characters.  If you like the NBA you might want to take a moment to look at http://thoughtsfromthejockstrap.blogspot.com/2008/10/comparing-nintendo-game-characters-and.html

Add your own comparisons if you like.

OS: Windows Vista, XP or 2000

CPU: 3.0 GHz P4, Dual Core 2.0 or AMD64X2 (or higher)

RAM: 1 GB for XP / 2GB for Vista

DISC DRIVE: DVD-ROM Drive

HARD DRIVE: At least 7.5 GB of free space

VIDEO: Direct X 9 compatible video card (Video card must be 256 MB or more and should be a DirectX 9-compatible with support for pixel shader 2.0)

SOUND: Direct X9.0c compatible sound card

Now my question is there any way my system can play it?  I can play Team Fortress 2 at the highest settings without any noticeable slow down.  My PC is a Pentium 4 3GHz with HyperThreading 2GB RAM, running on a XP system.  Oh and my Video Card is a Geforce 6800 256MB.

I don't know much about HyperThreading so that is basically my conern.  All i know is that it is like a dual core fake.

I originally bought my computer like 3-4 years ago i think when i needed it for school.  Sadly I bought Unreal Tournament 3  for it's editor but my PC can barely play it, unless the settings are toned down.

General Gaming / I'm Lookin for PS2 games...
« on: July 04, 2007, 09:32:13 AM »
Alright so I bought a PS2 back when the GCN was in a dry spell (1st dry spell), I gave it a chance and it died in less than 6 months.  I sold everything away, and here I am now looking to give it another chance.  I mainly love RPG's but I like a lot of games from other genres.  So anyways I'd like some recommendations on what PS2 games to buy.

Here is a list of what games I've already bought:

Psychonaughts
The Mark of Kri
Psi-Ops
Xenosaga I
Star Ocean: Till the end of time
Musashi: Samurai Legend

Here is a list of games that are on my wishlist:

Disgaea 1 & 2
Phantom Brave
La Pucelle Tactics
Okami
Katamari Damacy
Radiata Stories
Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana
Bully
Dragon Quest VIII
Gitaroo Man
God of War 1 & 2
GTA: San Andreas
ICO
Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2
Odin Sphere
Rogue Galaxy
Shadow of the Colossus
Soul Calibur III
Suikoden III
Suikoden Tactics
Valkyrie Profile 2
Tales of the Abyss
Tales of Legendia
Xenosaga II & III

To be honest most of these games I don't know too much about, such as Valkyrie Profile, Suikoden and I don't know if getting it would be dumb if I haven't played the first game.  Anyways I'd love some feedback, what should i add and or remove.

Nintendo Gaming / NWR - Pokemon League (Fav5/1 Teams)
« on: June 20, 2007, 04:49:56 PM »
NWR - Pokemon League Tournament Members Only!

Follow these rules!
Only post in this thread once, do not reply again, EVER.  If u must say something to somebody please PM them using the pad lock icon on their post.  You may update your team by clicking the edit button on your post.  Do not post here asking for Friend Codes, posting Friend Codes, asking for invitations to NWR - Pokemon League Tournament, or anything but to list your Fav5/1 Team.

Now for an explanation the "Fav5/1 Team" is basically a list of 5 of your pokemon, their move lists, and hold items.  Your sixth and last pokemon is kept a secret, you do not need to reveal anything of its nature at all.  During a Tournament you may not change your team, however you may update your team and edit your team's posting here as much as you like but on the 2 days before the tournament.

Also some tournament rounds will only be 4vs4 while others may be 6vs6, please list your team in order for 4vs4 rounds.  In other words your first 3 Pokemon listed are to be the 3 pokemon (plus your "kicker" pokemon) that will play in a 4vs4 round.  While in a tournament you may still decide the order of your pokemon for battle(i.e. round 1 you can use a Gyrados first and in round 2 you may use him last).

If you have a question PM me.

Here is my team (use this as an example how to post your team):

1.  Abomasnow (Sitrus Berry)
-  Wood Hammer
-  Blizzard
-  Swagger
-  Ingrain

2.  Gyrados (Shell Bell)
-  Waterfall
-  Surf
-  Dragon Rage
-  Rain Dance

3.  Charizard (Sitrus Berry)
-  Flamethrower
-  Slash
-  Toxic
-  Protect

4.  Bastiodon (Sitrus Berry)
-  Hyper Beam
-  Metal Burst
-  Metal Defense
-  Swaggar

5.  Drapion (Sitrus Berry)
-  Poison Fang
-  Pin Missle
-  Acupressure
-  Toxic Spikes

Nintendo Gaming / Secret files of Tunguska
« on: June 13, 2007, 08:14:30 AM »
Secret files of Tunguska will be coming to the Wii and DS.  Yes it is a port, but on the bright side it is a point and click adventure.  This may or may not be your type of genre but if u liked Trace Memory, Phoenix Wright, Hotel Dusk, Touch Detective, etc you might like this one too.

I'll be keeping this on my radar.

Nintendo Gaming / Heroes of Mana

Heroes of Mana

I'll get straight to the point, its a Real Time Strategy game!  Sure it is a bit off course from the original formula, but then again the series hasn't exactly stuck with any formula for very long.

The above link has a few videos, 1 of gameplay too.  It looks rather enjoyable.  According to Nintendo Power, they say the game will have you start with an airship (base), and then build barracks, gather resources, build units, etc.  If everything pans out, I think I may have to buy this one this time since I saved my money last time by skipping out on Children of Mana

Nintendo Gaming / Pokemon Tournament Beta Testing
« on: May 11, 2007, 08:14:22 PM »
(UPDATED!) No longer in Beta!  PM me for an invite!

I've found a neat little site, I've sent out some PM's to some NWR Staff members to see if they want to get on board.  (Jonnyboy117 is already on the prowl!)

The site that I found includes 3 different tournament styles.

- Single Elimination (1 loss elminates you)
- Double Elimination (2 losses elminates you, there is a loser bracket and a winning bracket)
- Swiss Tourney (1 pt for victories, after set rounds are all done whoever has the most wins)

The site isn't the prettiest but it has a lot of features and controls for the admins.

Were no longer in Beta, the site works for the most part. Here is a link to the main page of NWR - Pokemon League Tournament.

NWR - Pokemon League Tournament

Here is the link to the actual website if u want to check it out.

MyLeague

We already finished our 2nd tourney, so as far as i know this will be the NWR - Pokemon League Tournament.  We now have about 12 members, if you would want to join in plz PM (click the little lock icon above my post).

(EDIT)  Decided to list some new features that I noticed:
1.  Prizes can be set by Admins (i.e. Rare Pokemon, NWR prize, Special Signature on NWR Forums maybe?)
2.  Can make team tournaments (i.e. 4 ppl to a team, and have like 8 teams or more.  Team with most pts win.)
3.  I can stage detailed rules for different tourneys (Fire Pokemon only, Female Pokemon only, weight classes, etc)
4.  Tournament of Champions (at the end of the month the winners of each tournament are put into a special tournament)
5.  Admins can award medals to users.
6.  Skill Ratings for users.
7.  Stats (Winning Streaks, Win Percentage, Top Players List, etc)
8.  Forums & Chat
9.  I can have tournaments held in just one day or over multiple days, and ability to postpone a match!
10.  If a NWR staffer gives me a image file of the NWR logo or banner, I can upload it to the page.

Update!

General Chat / NBA Playoff Thread
« on: May 03, 2007, 07:45:00 PM »
Since there is a white dominated sport thread here I figured the politically correct thing to do was to include a black dominated sport thread too.  OMG i no i said "black", what I meant to say was African American.

Anyways talk about any games, predictions, root for a team, bad mouth a team, bad mouth a certain so called MVP who is now out of the Playoffs and couldn't score more than 8pts in a must win game.

So how bout them Mavericks!

General Gaming / Fallout 3 buyout

Fallout 3

I don't know how much this changes anything, the game has been in development since 2004 so who knows.  Personally I would really only care if the game played like the Fallout 1 or 2 (I never played Fallout: Tactics).

Any MMO fan out there maybe salivating over a post nuclear MMO over the usual medievil setting.

Luminous Arc Game Trailer

The game came out last month in Japan, I have no idea how good it is but the trailer looks nice.  It really reminds me of FF Tactics, and if anyone's noticed lately I've become a TBS RPG freak.  The game has local and wifi play, sports music from Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger), and is being published by Atlus here in the U.S. according to the new Nintendo Power.  No current date though.

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo Plays for Keeps (article piece)
« on: March 07, 2007, 09:29:46 PM »
TheStreet.com has a nice article released 3/7/07 about Nintendo and the rest of the gaming industry, most of it some of you may already know about but its still a nice read through i think.  Oh and fair warning it is 5 pages long, contains sales data stuff (in case that stuff bores u), and occasionally uses big words, lol.

General Gaming / Ubisoft's TMNT
« on: February 22, 2007, 07:42:55 PM »
If u haven't heard about it yet its running on the Prince of Persia Engine.  I just played the free demo and i have to say it works very well for the TMNT franchise only drawback is there is no multiplayer whatsoever.  Try out the demo by downloading it from fileplanet.com, if ur not a subscriber you'll probably have to wait like 25min like i did but its worth it i think.

The demo is a timed demo only though and its really only a tutorial, but u do get to feel how the game will be played.  After playing it I think I will be interested to get it on the Wii.

Nintendo Gaming / Final Fantasy III DS
« on: February 19, 2007, 03:10:42 PM »
I saw something strange happen when i first played Final Fantasy III on my DS.  I'm not sure if this is normal as I've never seen this ever happen on any other DS game.  The Game loaded up and a message came up "Initializing Back up Data" or something like that.  It happend before anything came up on the screen, including the "made by....screens".  So yeah plz tell me it's normal so i can stop worrying that i got a pirated game or something, i did purchase it brand new and sealed from ebay though.

Check em out, it looks pretty good to me.

Reminds me a lot of Final Fantasy Tactics because of the characters but the gameplay looks like Lost Magic.  Look out for the Chocobo army!

Well maybe not sell off all your licenses and fire a bunch of employees, but still disheartening.  Plus a monopoly is not a good thing in the game industry.  Hope nothing actually goes down.
