Following the reveal of a few songs from each game, Activision is giving fans the opportunity to vote on how the set list for the upcoming Guitar Hero game is announced.
 http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/newsArt.cfm?artid=18214

The Guitar Hero franchise has found a solid fanbase on the Wii with Guitar Hero III and Guitar Hero: World Tour being million sellers on the system. The next game in the series, Guitar Hero: Smash Hits, will be a collection of 48 songs from earlier games that didn't feature full band gameplay. It will retain all of the gameplay modes that were in Guitar Hero: World Tour. For many of these songs, this will be the first time they are made available to Wii gamers. To hype up the upcoming release, Activision has asked fans to determine how the songs will be revealed through their official website.

Developed by Beenox Studios, Guitar Hero: Smash Hits will be released in June 2009.

After the initial announcement last week, there have been more song unveilings. We'll keep you posted as more songs get unveiled.

I know this is something that can generate hype but I'd rather see the whole list right now.

I do want to see Knights of Cydonia.

Hearing what passes for music on the radio stations today, it might be better that all the thirteen year old fans didn't vote. I'd hate to end up with a setlist full of Slipknot and Panic at the Disco.

The more Queen, the better.  Also, have they confirmed "Holiday in Cambodia" or "Anarchy in the UK"?  Because I'm pulling for those from 3.

Agreed.  Oh man, do I agree with this. :)

Voting to see what part gets revealed is very odd.  Just seems like such a lame thing to vote on.

Didn't they just release Guitar Hero: Metallica?  And you know Guitar Hero 5 is going to come out around Christmas.  So THREE Guitar Hero games in one year?!  ****, Activision you're just killing it.  Not just Guitar Hero but probably the entire rhythm genre period.  We'll go back to playing Japanese rhythm games with good gameplay but horrible selections of songs.

I'll likely get this game since so far the set list looks pretty good.  One thing that's kind of a bummer is that I liked Guitar Hero 3's set list way more than World Tour's but when my friends are over they want to play the full band setup.  So this kind of helps with that.  On the Wii this games makes sense since the older games aren't available but on the Playstation 2 it's a little more redundant.

I hope at least Holiday in Cambodia makes it, and i don't care much for Anarchy in the UK. Then again as seen in this post:

DEAD KENNEDYS PLEASE

which has almost 0 chance of being original tracks, not covers :(

I'm more partial to DK. I think i'd rather have "police truck" since i already get to play "Holiday in Cambodia" on GH3, but if its the same awful cover from the PS2 game count me out.

On the Wii this games makes sense since the older games aren't available but on the Playstation 2 it's a little more redundant.

Exactly why i don't mind picking this one up. They'll never re-release the songs from before GH3 as DLC (even if it would be easier for me..) so i'll take a budget priced compilation, as long as the set list is worth it of course!

Oh and i want me some Radar Love dammit!

Why? Do you also hate when a company releases a box set of their DVDs? Or a box set of CD's? It's not meant for people who have every Guitar Hero game. It's really meant for people who are just getting into the series (like those who first played a Guitar Hero game on the Wii) and would like to basically play the greatest hits of the series.

Don't forget Guitar Hero: Van Halen everybody!

Also, as much as I prefer Rock Band, I do get warm fuzzies from the thought of playing songs from Guitar Hero 1 and 2. Back then, I had no hatred for series and love for the other. All I had was love for the concept.

I thought GH:VH was a rumour? Good think the type of bands i'd want a full game made out of would NEVER happen, so i can skip all these (Aerosmith, Metallica, Van Halen, etc)

This just feels like a waste of a disc. I'd much rather that these songs be added as DLC to GHWT (or Rock Band, ideally :p), so I could pick out the 6 or 7 songs I actually want and buy those.

That's the trick. If they did that they would get less money. 6-7 tracks as DLC = $12-14 while making you buy the whole disc at $50 nets them more cash.

I think with MetalliDisc already out there doesn't need to be any more Arthritis Hero on the market.
