I have it pre-ordered thanks to the voucher program, from $100 shop cards I bought at Costco for $80. Other game I got was Advance Wars. So saved $50 from retail price. Pro tip for those worried about the $70 price tag.

I still need to beat Breath of the Wild. Not made any progress since months ago when I mentioned I wanted to try to complete as much as possible. I actually gave my game away planning to rebuy on digital during a good sale and there hasn't been a good enough sale for me...so...yeah, I'll have to cave and buy it to complete (never beat the boss once), or just watch the ending on youtube.

Critics have lost their souls is my theory. Mario Movie is brilliant fun and a good time for like 90% of people. I was going to go see it with a friend and he was dissuaded due to the initial negative reviews. Thankfully he changed his mind and enjoyed it just as much if not more so than me.

I'd give it a 9/10. One point dinged for lack of Waluigi and Wario  ;D

Been trying to play Advance Wars. Nice throwback and really scratches the itch that Wargroove could never quite itch. Though it is missing some of the more streamlined options that come in Wargroove or even modern Fire Emblem games (auto-turn end when all moves are exhausted, inability to skip the CO animations).

Yeah, looks neat, agree music is meh, but trailer music is rarely indicative of the final product. And why is BatMan a fascist? Did I miss something about that or were they trying to be funny because "LOL billionaire bad"?

I heard that this was originally supposed to close out Phase 4 and end on a cliffhanger with Scott and his daughter trapped, but after the schedule shuffle they made it the Phase 5 opener and it got a rewrite that hurt the film.

Feels like the ant-man films are in these weird spots in the phases that hinder them being their own quality things in some way.

I'd love to see the other Game & Watch titles come. Its been my most played game on the service from the GB/GBA line so far. I had the first couple but none of the later ones so its familiar but new at the same time for me.

Also the GB James Bond game was one I never tried and was quite popular so hopefully since it was an original story without the likeness of any actors it could come as well.

Before I watched the trailer I thought this was going to be jacking the premise from the parody trailer from a long while ago.

Actually the Burton Schumacher anthology is actually something to look at for reboots. They kept on Alfred and Commisioner Gordon, and Robin for the second set, but the villains changed, even batman changed, and it really didn't matter. Not great movies, but the general public were a lot more capable of moving on with new casting at the time.

The general movie-going public absolutely can move on with new actors. That is how movies used to be done (and in a few cases still are). James Bond and Dr Who still make a bit of a deal about new actors taking on the mantle of the old. It was generally expected there would be changing of the guard when it came to actors. I think the dawn of the "franchise film series" with the likes of Lord of the Rings and especially Harry Potter where it grew to be expected that the actors would stick around. I remember the behind the scenes interviews for Potter had multiple creators of the series saying it was a pipe dream that the core actors would stick around and that still happened.

Now with major series like the MCU and Star Wars making such a deal of the actor equaling the character to the point they decided to never recast T'Challa or Princess Leia, they will back themselves into an awkward corner either requiring even more acrobatic multi-dimentional logic or pure reboots to allow certain stories to happen in the future.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Official Sales Thread

Maybe the sales could have always been this good if it weren't for the persistent chip shortages in previous years?

I don't see why they couldn't drop Batgirl on a streaming service or something. If it truly flopped there they could still write off the difference.

What's wrong with just blocking you from concurrently watching from multiple devices? Say you get two "real times views" for a basic account, and if a third device under your account tunes in to Netflix block it with a message you have too many running at once? Even giving an option for your "primary device" that you select to kick another viewer off their show.

Pretty sure that is close to how Hulu does it because we used to go in with another family member on the Disney/Hulu/ESPN bundle until they kept getting blocked and I had to reset the password to let them back on (they were in another state).

It just feels like Netflix is trying to cut back on free perks at a club and doing it with the poorest amount of tact possible.

I am super excited to try playing Alone in the Dark again with modern things like save states xD The huge pixel FMV always facinated me. It's like an accidental impressionist game

This is also one of the more fascinating titles for me on the system. I remember reading about this game and never trying it and seeing something trying to be this ambitious is quite a neat ride.

Also playing a ton of Game & Watch. I loved the old ones on GameBoy and played a ton of the ones I did have so seeing one I missed is really great.

Wondering where Mario Land 1 is since we got the second off the bat.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: What's Next For The N64 Expansion Pack?
« on: February 12, 2023, 05:10:35 PM »
Well I had some extra eShop credit and saw you could upgrade your plan in-store now instead of calling so I went ahead and upgraded to the expansion pass family plan. I kinda wish I didn't play Goldeneye on it because it feels awful going back. The controls are nigh unplayable for me. I hear you can fix them through a few methods so I'll play around with them.

This should please Mop it up. The multi-colored Birdo's are an interesting touch.

I think the only thing I am disappointed about this release is that it is not the whole trilogy. Hopefully they do the other two and don't leave it as this one before Prime 4 drops.

Whatever you choose I'm confident it will be a blast to play, so make sure you are ready to go before diving in. Don't rush quality.

I actually didn't like how they handled Toph. I always hate the "this is your battle young one" angle. It would have been a fitting parallel if she came back to support like how Bumi rejoined the military to help in the final battles of TLA. No reason she can't come back and help in some capacity.

In terms of newer shows, I'm not seeing any mention of Andor. Did I miss that conversation a few pages back? Its great. Some of the best Star Wars material in recent years I'd say. Can't wait to see where it goes.

Jeez I screwed myself out of points last year once again by going into too much detail.  Seriously, need to be brief this year to get the win.

Don't feel too bad, I forgot to make ANY predictions last year so really blew my lifetime score.

  • There will be a brand new Mario game released. (Bet you part of the reason for the delay in the film was to coincide with a new game)
  • Nintendo Switch Online continues the trend of offering DLC to major games as an incentive
  • Advance Wars Remake actually releases this year
  • Prime 4 is acknowledged and even shown with more than a new title screen, but does not release this year
  • New Fire Emblem project is announced; most likely another remake
  • Something Animal Crossing related is announced but not something fans were hoping for
  • Nintendo releases a racing game that is not Mario Kart or Mario Kart DLC
  • Release of a fan favorite game is teased in some cryptic manner and not actually announced or released this year (think like the weird comments about Pikmin 4, but for a series that isn't Zelda, Mario, or Pokemon)
  • We get another hardware revision that is not the Super Switch Pro
  • New Monster Hunter is announced for non-tendo consoles/PC

Maybe we can upgrade Pokepal to version 149 finally? We've been on v148 for a while now.

If you can't see eye to eye maybe the shorter one of you two could get on a box or something to make your eyes level? Seems like an easy problem to solve.
