TalkBack / Re: eShop Adding Demos, DLC, and Internet Functionality
« on: October 28, 2011, 02:24:34 AM »
I have pretty much vowed to never use PayPal again.  I bought what I thought was a legitimate copy of Metroid Prime Hunters off of Ebay.  When I got it, it was obviously a fake, so I reported it.  I was told to send it back to the address from which it came and to provide tracking information.  I did so after taking lots of pictures, and I even made a Youtube video.  I tried contacting the user through Paypal multiple times, so everything is on record, but I don't remember them replying even once.  Anyway, after like a week or two, I get an e-mail about the ruling.  THEY RULED IN FAVOR OF THE SELLER.  Apparently, the tracking information was bad.  They didn't even ask for a confirmation or anything, and I was unable to appeal the ruling.  3 months later, the package came back to me because "they" never picked it up.  So, I'm out 20 bucks, and I'm stuck with a fake copy of Hunters......

That's just my two-cents on PayPal......

Wow, I can't wait for this update!  Also, with the addition of 3D video recording, perhaps my dream of Skype on 3DS isn't so far-fetched after all?

Thanks for the time conversions!  I had already converted it for my time, but I still wasn't entirely sure.

What exactly do you mean when you say the coins will expire?  I know that your count to 600 will reset to 0, but you aren't saying that our balance will change, are you?  I have exactly enough coins for Platinum status, and already have pretty much everything I want from the store, so I have nothing to spend them on if they're going to disappear.

Ooh ooh!  I just had an awesome thought.  While I would love for them to be working on either Star Fox or Metroid, I wonder if they would be able to bring back Eternal Darkness?  Is there anything preventing that IP from being brought back?

Wow, I would really love to get a job at Retro.  Sadly, I'm not that experienced with C# yet, and I've still got another year or so before I get my degree anyway.  I can only hope someday I'll be able to push myself into the Game Dev career, and Retro would be a GREAT place to start.

That said, I think they're working on a Star Fox revival.  They seem to be EXTREMELY good at reviving dead/nearly dead franchises, and Star Fox is basically screaming for a revival.  The last console Star Fox game I played was Assault, and that was about 5 years ago.  Come to think of it, it's the most recent one, besides Command, isn't it?  I think that's much too long without a Star Fox game....

That was already removed early on and only appeared in very early copies of the game, so that couldn't have been the reason.

Ahhh, I remember when Ganondorf's  blood was red.  Then it was green in the compilation for Gamecube.  Do you think it's completely gone now?

Yeah, I never had a rumble pack either.  Rumble just seems like an add-on to me anyway.  I can definitely live without it, but I wouldn't mind a bit having it.

I really hope this comes out sometime around the 3DS' launch.  I really want to relive it.  I haven't gotten to play it in quite some time because my N64 refuses to work correctly these days (it resets repeatedly moments after startup).......

How long ago was this?

Summer of '09.  The package was returned to me in November, I think, three months after I had sent it.

More than likely, PayPal will *not* side with you.

Yeah....I wish I had known that before I even bothered.  I thought SURELY they'd bring me justice, but noooo....They screwed me.  They said that I didn't provide accurate tracking information, and immediately closed the case without giving me a chance to try entering the tracking information again.  Also, I sent several e-mails to the seller through PayPal, and I don't remember him replying ONCE after I filed the complaint.

*Absolutely* do not send the counterfeit items back to the seller via USPS.  Again, you put yourself at risk of being accused of mail fraud.
I didn't know that.  I got lucky, it seems!

Oh, and I have not touched Ebay or PayPal since.  It's kinda lost the appeal.  I may use it again someday, but not anytime soon.

I've experienced this.  It really sucks.  I tried to get Metroid Prime:Hunters off of Ebay about a year ago, and got a cartridge that was obviously bootlegged.  What REALLY makes me angry is that when I filed my complaint, Paypal ruled in favor of the seller.  So, I'm out $20 and, to top it off, it came back to me in the mail after I sent it back like they told me to, so I'm stuck with it.

Anyway, great article!
