Nintendo Gaming / RE: A chance to win a free Nintendo DS.

Basically they assign you to a virtual cabin with a counsellor and a bunch of other campers.  From there, you get a bunch of contests and games you can play.  Some are just for fun, some win points for you and/or your cabin.  I don't remember quite all how it works, but it's pretty fun, and you get to chat with official Nintendo dudes every so often.

Makes me wish I won't be on a trip to Canada without a computer while that's going on, but oh well.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Square considering Final Fantasy ports

The only thing I can see is that the GBA was missing two buttons (X and Y) and may have made it difficult to bring all the necessary functionality to certain games.

Paage 16 of Volume 183, it's about 3/4 down the Camp Hyrule 2004 article.

Nintendo Gaming / A chance to win a free Nintendo DS.

I didn't see this mentioned in PGC's news post of the event, but in the latest Nintendo Power, it says that they'll be giving away free Nintendo DS systems (yes, it's plural, but they don't give a specific number) at Camp Hyrule 2004.  Better hurry to http://www.camphyrule.com if you want to enter because registration ends July 29th.  The event runs from August 16th through the 20th.

General Gaming / Game concert?
« on: May 16, 2004, 02:58:07 PM »
I'm not sure if this goes here since it's not officially part of E3, although the scheduled date does coincide with E3.  If this belongs elsewhere, feel free to move it.

Anyway, has anyone heard anything about the Video Games Live At The Hollywood Bowl concert that was supposed to be happening this year at the end of E3?  The last news I heard of it was that it was being pushed back a year, and that was around the time E3 came around in 2003.  I've also seen it mentioned briefly in a few articles about the Final Fantasy concert that happened recently stating that the FF concert was not a replacement for it.  For such a big event, I've been able to find surprisingly little about it lately.  Does anyone know what's going on with it?

I notice a lot of "use the stylus/touch-screen" in there.  Hopefully we won't have to switch back and forth between using the stylus and buttons too much as it would get to be a hassle.  Also, I can't quite tell from the images I've seen, but I hope the stylus is attached to the DS somehow so it doesn't get dropped or lost when switching between it and the buttons.

"The last boss in this game would have to be James Bond or Dr. No, so you would finish the game if you killed one of them. But that screws even more with the storyline of the franchise. "

Or perhaps in the end, the player ends up being killed?  I admit it'd suck hard to try to survive through the game just to end up dying anyway, but it wouldn't screw with the story.  And who knows how much crap they're willing to pull with this game.

They're not bad, but I've been a fan of The Minibosses since I found out about them, and I still think they're about as good as it gets when it comes to videogame cover bands.  (Not to mention their website doesn't make my eyes bleed like The Advantage's does.)

I saw that picture and thought, "Game Boy Advance, now with more Zell."  (Think FF8.)  As for the design, I don't not like it, but it's not enough to make me want one to replace my current one.

When I try to access the news post about the Mario Kart pre-orders ( http://www.planetgamecube.com/news_ed.cfm?action=edit&id=4678 ), I get a window saying "Invalid User... IP Logged..."

Nintendo Gaming / Tilt Sensors...
« on: March 02, 2003, 11:05:28 AM »
While listening to part 2 of the the D.I.C.E. 2003 Roundtable, someone mentioned Kirby's Tilt & Tumble and it got me thinking about games with tilt sensors...  Does anyone else think these are a bad idea?  I find it hard enough to get decent lighting on my GBA when I'm holding it still, and now we need to tilt it back and forth and mess up the way the light's reflecting off it to play the game.  And the GBA SP's built-in light doesn't help the matter either since the game cartridges enter the bottom of the system instead of the top, so it would have to be tilted the opposite way to control it correctly.  Maybe I'm missing something, but it just doesn't seem like a very good idea to me.

Nintendo Gaming / Need help with Sonic Advance ring bug...
« on: February 15, 2003, 04:58:26 PM »
I erased my game data before I learned about this bug and now I can't get any rings to use in the mini Chao garden.  I've heard that if you get however many rings you had before erasing the data your ring count will increase again, but I don't want to have to collect 10,000 rings...  Does anyone know how I can counteract this bug?  If there's any way I can completely wipe the game's memory, that would probably work too.
