Thanks for the vote of confidence Zach.

Bill - 7
Khushrenada - 6
Wandering - 4
Mario - 2
Ceric - 1

Just thought I'd do a vote count. It's closer than I thought it would be. I think Wandering should get some apologies for the accusations of cheating. We now know it was the despicable Windyman.

Bill, are you refering to the attempt to silence me?

Well, I too want offer my sympathies to you. And I really mean it. I would hate for someone to have done to me what Windyman did to you. I wish I had stuck to my vote against him now. You and Ceric deserve better.

I would just like to say that I too pulled strings and contacted a bunch of people asking them to vote with me. It was a great clash between and the outcome wasn't always certain. Much like yesterday. You put up a valient defense and you deserve to be saluted. Again, my apoligies to your misfortune. I hope I wasn't to rough on you in my pursuit against you but I was fighting for my life. Still, it looks like we might all go down together, like Sherlock Holmes and Moriarty, locked in battle.

Really, I should have known Windyman was behind it all. When I did my inside info, I was the source the whole time. It just didn't make sense that he would be trying to vote out his own mafia. I just about did figure it out earlier when I learned Fools was a dupe account. I also like your give away my vote and hit idea, Ceric. I hope it works better for you than it did me last game.

Might as well start a vote tally

Bill - 6
Khushrenada - 4
Wandering - 2
Ceric - 1
Mario - 1
Vudu - 1

It's not a runaway.

I don't cheat. I haven't used an anonymous second dupe account in a mafia game sense pryo barred them in Mafia II.

It's true that people with roles don't always make the right decisions. I think the vigilante has always killed a townie and died. That's why I appealed to El Gato for help. But if Cody can make a hit, I must appeal to him also.

Finally, I would like to appeal to Maki to save me from the hit. Though, I know Maki would probably prefer to live. Still, just thought I'd throw that out there.

On the topic of me having info, let's just take a moment to discuss this.

In mafia 6 my first game, I never had or said anything like this. I just went on a suspicion and it was correct.

In Mafia 7, I made up the infamous informant who was giving me info

In Mafia 8, I tried giving away my vote only to be killed soon. I never said anything about being informed.

I tried the info ploy once. It got me killed. I wouldn't do it again but unfortunately, circumstances and my desire to root out a mafia before they could act have caused this to happen again. I'll probably wind up dead again now. But at least I took a mafia down with me.

Thanks Pryo, but it seems most people are voting for Bill.

Plus, I think I just figured out the insider info. If so, this game was sort od screwed towards the Skull mafia. Windy said that someone was double crossing the Skull mafia. I think it was Fools Gold. He was an SK Goon. The informant who helped Windy didn't know who the goon was but knew the other two people in the game. I think whoever put up the fools gold account is the one behind it all.

By the way, if El Gado could send his hit out for Ceric, it might be possible for me to survive and not have the mafia take me down with them tonight. It's a slim chance I know but it's really my only chance.

Yeah, that quote was just a joke to Windyman. I thought the town whores we're only used in a tiebreaker. Also, I'm not the one who claimed to have insider info. That was Windyman. I just happen to trust the info.

Hey, I didn't think it was possible for anyone to know a person's role on Day 1 either but the evidence is all there. Since Windy is dead, I'll post what he sent me:

Someone inside the Skull Cross gang has double-crossed the group. Ceric is Black, Bill Aurion is Dave, and Dean did not join the group. I was quite surprised when this information made its way to my PM inbox.

Since you're not in the Skull Cross gang, this information is beneficial to you. If you're in Mad Gear, you know who your main enemies are. If you're a townie, you know who you should vote out. If you're any other special role, you can verify it or take your own actions.

I have no reason to lie; Ceric has every reason to. Notice how fast he changed his vote against me after he put two and two together?

What really lent credence to this was the fact that soon after this was sent, Bill voted against Windyman. Then strangely, Infernal did also.
Let's not forget, Windy was just shown to be a townie. So, we were not part of some Mafia. All I can ask is that everyone uses this information. Like Windy said. It benefits everyone whether it be rival mafia's, townies or special roles.

Plus, if you do vote me out. At least I'll have given out all the info I know and the mafia can't silence me.

VOTE BILL since that seems to be the mafia member they are after.

16460
Ok. I think I've finally figured out the roles then. Good night everybody.

16461
Since the day one thread is locked, I just thought I'd say this here. The vote isn't going to a tie-breaker. Ceric was voted out by one vote. Fools Gold changed his vote. Now, to see what happens tomorrow.

I can only appeal to those sitting on the sidelines to join in the Ceric vote. Pryo is right. Voting for Ceric isn't a bad thing. Why?
First of all. It's not you being voted out. That's good.
Second, if Ceric is the mafia head, everbody wins, except for that mafia. That's good.
Third, if Ceric isn't mafia, then we vote out Windy tomorrow. That means, it's not you being voted out. That's still good.

So, for a good chance to live till Day 3, join the Ceric vote. C'mon everyone. Infernal, Bill, Vudu, Stabby, Fool's, Pale, Athrun. Change your votes.

Just a minute to go. Ceric has 6 votes, Windy has 5.

Ok, I've been given a big incentive to join in this vote against Ceric and I urge everyone else to do the same. I don't change my vote lightly and I think everyone should know that it must be something big to make me do this since I really was very sure in my vote. Every vote counts. Hurry people.

VOTE CERIC

Just thought I'd do a quick vote tally also. It's still pretty close.

Ceric - 6
Windyman - 5
18 Days - 2
Stevey (Duffman) - 1
Stabby - 1

EDIT: Removed my case against Windy. Ceric is the enemy. Have adjusted votes. We're at a tie.

EDIT 2: Votes readjusted. Ceric is now winning.

EDIT 3: Woah, we're back at a tie.

EDIT 4: Windyman is back in the lead. I can't believe it. A mafia godfather (Ceric) could be voted out Day 1.

EDIT 5: We are back at a tie! This is going down to the wire.

EDIT 6: Whoa, We're back at Ceric being voted out.

Vote changed.

He says that Ceric is trying to spread suspicion on people. Let's examine that. The first vote is S-U-P-E-R. Ty isn't playing. The second vote is 18 Days. Nothing big. 18 Days already has a vote by Stevey and he's just stating that obvious that a lot of roles seem to repeat. Finally, Ceric votes for Shyguy, his real vote at the time. And random too. I think Windyman is trying to spread suspicion.

Plus, I want to pay him back for killing me last game. I'm not above vendettas. And since Stevey isn't gettin his today, I might as well get mine.

So, I've been waiting for the October issue for some time and I finally got it today. The reason I've been waiting for it is because I wanted to read the peice on Metroid Prime 3. It's been a while since we heard anything and I was hoping to get some new tidbits or new screens. But there was nothing. Metroid Prime 3 wasn't mentioned anywhere in the magazine. They never said anything about the article not being there and there's no mention of Metroid Prime 3 for the next issue.

I think this might lend credence to the rumours that Metroid Prime 3 won't be available at launch but sometime after instead. Still, I'm rather dissapointed. I really wanted some new info on the game.

Man, I'm so sick of these Twilight Princess discussions. All of this was talked about like a year ago and it's just been repeated ever since. I know because I joined this forum at that time and made a post about the negatives of adding Wii functionality to the game. I was so innocent back then.

Anyways, I know this is the funhouse but I'm going to break the rules for a moment and just say something I realized everytime I come to Planet Gamecube and see the title: There is no Definitive Zelda.

Yeah, that's the point. Nintendo is never going to say which one is the definitive Zelda and they never will until years later when they talk about the best games of their past. And even then, they'll probably lump the two together.

And do you know why?

Because saying one is better than the other will hurt sales. If they said Wii Zelda is the definitive one, then why make the Gamecube game? Just to honor a promise? What's the point? It's clearly inferior. Plus, it would hurt sales of the Gamecube Zeldas.

Oh, but the Gamecube game is the definitive one. Then why bother to make a Wii version? Wii is backwards compatible, just pick up the Gamecube game. Plus, it would just make people whine more about delaying the game to make a Wii version when the other is the definitve. Plus, if Gamecube controls are used for the definitive Zelda, then that's a hit to the Wii control scheme. Plus, it might hurt Wii Zelda sales.

Oh, and if they but Gamecube controls in the Wii version, it would cripple the sales of the Gamecube game. Why buy it when you can get everything in one neater and shinier package. The controls must always be seperate.

And there you have it. Mystery solved. Buy the game for the control scheme you want to play. In the end, it's the same dang story and adventure. Each game just has feature unique to it's console's capabilities. And if your so worried about which control scheme is better, then rent, read, review or wait a year because both will go Player's choice and be available for less money.

Ta-da.

Actually, you're wrong. Kirby has helped Samus before. In Kirby's Dreamland 3, a wonderful but less remembered Kirby game released at the end of the SNES's life, Samus makes an appearence. It's in the 5th or 6th level, whichever the ice level is, in about the 2nd or 3rd stage, Samus makes an appearence. During that level, Kirby must get the ice ability and freeze metroids, then he meets with Samus again and gets a heart star. So, they have a bit of history. And let's not forget that in Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, an even greater SNES game, Samus makes a brief cameo appearence. After Princess Peach joins your party, when you go to her bedroom in her castle, Samus is sleeping in the bed and talks about defeating Mother Brain.

Nintendo, it's all connected.

So, does anyone have anything to say about this idea? Or does everyone just not care? Perhaps you think this is only a thread for Smoke39? Or maybe you're shocked at Wandering being banned, Animecyberrat coming back, Ty losing his mod powers and Kirby_Killer_Dedede actually coming back to these forums and posting something in the Zelda TP thread in the Gamecube section? Yes/No/Maybe So.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Nintendo to Wiiify Gamecube games?
« on: August 21, 2006, 08:04:55 PM »
Frankly, I see a better benefit out of this. If Nintendo can do this and add Wii functionality to old gamecube games, they should use it for their own research and development.

Think about. They could add wii functionality to Mario Kart Double Dash. Then, they could test out the game and see what types of tracks work and what don't. They can then fiddle with ways to control. All of this research can then go into the next Mario Kart built specifically for Wii and will mean they can make a Mario Kart game that is absolutly perfect for the Wii.

Frankly, that's what they should be doing. Putting Wii in existing games and testing to know what's going to work for the future, thereby saving time of having to create whole new games from scratch and tinkering and experimenting with controls while many parts of the game or vision are missing or incomplete.

As for selling the old games with new controls, I'm not for it. I have not bought the Game Boy Advance ports of old Nes and Snes games. I just don't the need. I own all these games and there's been talk of being able to load old Nes and Snes games to a person's DS besides just being available on the virtual console. So, I'd rather wait and see. The same is with the Gamecube games. Some of these games I've put long hours into, like Rogue Squadron, F-Zero and Mario Kart. Wii functionality would be nice, but after having played the game for so long before, I'm not going to play it that much. I want something new.

If you want budget titles, that's what you can use the old gamecube games for. The system is backwards compatible. I've never owned a Gameboy Advance. But I have 5 GBA games now. That's because I bought a DS and thanks to Backwards functionality, I bought some games that I was interested in but never enough to buy a Gameboy Advance. I think the same thing could hgappen wioth Gamecube games. If a lot of people didn't own a Gamecube but were interested in some old Gamecube titles, chances are, if they buy a Wii, they'll take advantage of the backwards functionality.

If they do add Wii functionality to old games then I suggest one of the following:
a) They sell games in a compliation, like 4 or 5 games on one disc
b) they package the game with it's new original Wii counterpart, thereby giving extra value to the purchase.
c) they use it as a promotional item

Frankly, the best choice to me is b. It also has the added benefit of keeping people from ruining the joy and pleasure of experiencing the new control scheme in a game. If I played Mario Kart Double Dash with the Wii controls, what would be the thrill in playing the actual Wii Mario Kart? Sure, there'd be new courses and characters and most likely internet play. But playing it with the remote will have already been experienced.

This is why games like Mario 64 and Zelda: OoT were big. Games like Banjo-Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64, StarFox 64, Mario Kart 64 and Mario Golf were big. It was the first time these characters were in 3-D and their universes could be explored in 3-d. You were able to control them in these worlds with the analog stick for the first time. And it was a new gameplay you were experiencing for the first time. Metroid Prime was bigger than Metroid Prime 2. Why? First time experiencing Metroid in 3D. While there are other factors that can be argued, the truth is, the first time you play something with a new control scheme, it leaves a much larger impression than playing a second game with the same scheme.

That's my warning.

You know, these games would make a great way for Nintendo to show appreciation to their North American market.

If they made these things available to say, people who had registered 12 or more games or had a subscription to Nintendo Power for the price of $25.00, I think you'd see these games bought up fast. Especially if they packaged them the way they did the Japanese versions. It would be a big collector item and a great way to encourage more people to stick with Nintendo for exclusives like this.

They might see a jump in subscriptions or more people registering their products. Plus, they still make back a bit of maoney so it's not a total loss for all the packaging. So far, the best thing Nintendo's done here was the Zelda gamecube discs where you could get all those old Zelda games.

Personally, I would love to get these games and I love the way they look, packaging and graphics. I would get them in a flash if Nintendo gave an offer like that.

On another note, this reminds me of an idea I've had for awhile that I think Nintendo should try. They should make one month of the year (preferably one with few games coming out like June or July) where they release a bunch of quirky Japanese games. They could give the games a special label or packaging to promote this. Games like Rythm Tengoku, Giftpia, Mother 3, Band Brothers, Project Hacker, Tingle RPG, Legend of Quiz Championship Tournament, and a bunch others I can't think of at the moment. These are games that might not sell that much on their own (though some of you may debate that about certain titles) but by giving them a special label and a special time of release, they may actually sell quite well. Especially, if released at a time when there are not many other games coming out, like the summer droughts when they're not selling many games anyway.

This way, you don't have to make a huge batch of games and hope they sell, you don't have to worry about the games being lost in the shuffle of big releases, you give the games a brand or recognizable label, you have a chance to see if you can establish a new franchise, you don't have game droughts, it gives you a way to appease some fans (even if they are a minority) by bringing over titles they've comic booked about and a chance to open up and expand your market.

The truth is, lately things seem to be improving a bit with the importing. Nintendo's bring Elite Beat agents over, something I never thought they'd do. As well as other software coming over that didn't seem likely, such as The Tower (though this was Sega), and Electroplankton and Tamagotchi Corner Shop. I think even Brain Training was something that seemed at first like it might be Japan only, but after it picked up steam in sales, it was then decided to bring over. Plus, Nintendo has talked about making their virtual library import free, so it seems they're starting to open up a bit and take some chances with our market.

Anyways, that's just my two cents.

16475
You got me to shut the frill up? What the heck does that mean? What was I doing that got you so upset? You're just lucky my role was changed to mafia or you'd have looked pretty stupid.
