Amazon Instant Video, YouTube Apps Now Available on Wii U
« on: November 22, 2012, 12:18:45 PM »

That was not such a long wait now was it?

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/32575

Amazon Instant Video and YouTube are now available on Wii U.

By downloading the apps through the Wii U eShop, owners of the new system can stream videos through either services.

Amazon Instant Video lets users stream movies and TV shows by either renting or buying them individually. Amazon Prime membera are able to stream some of the content with no extra fees. YouTube is mostly free along with full Movies and TV Shows available for purchase.

Both apps will also be compatible with the upcoming Nintendo TVii.

I'm a staff writer here at good ol' Nintendo World Report, but I also have a Nintendo website at www.nintendogamerthoughts.com

Now we just need one Tvii to rule them all and in the downloads, bind them.

What we needed was a way to easily turn the Umote screen off. Like with a switch.

I mean the Upad needs a switch on it that allows you to turn the backlight off... Which is just what I said. Not sure how much clearer I could be.

Although the software should be able to take care of this also. Seriously, use the YouTube app. Why is the screen on the pad even on? No touch controls, you can't watch the vids on it, so why? To waste the frickin' battery, that's why. Which reduces actual play time which makes Hulk angry! Same with Netflix. Although you can watch the vids on the pad which is handy, when I watch a movie on the TV I sure as hell don't need the pad sitting there lit up for nothing.

It's bullcrap is what I'm saying.

I understand, but you could just put the pad back in its charging cradle when your not using it. In lieu of an off switch, which I understand why they didn't do if you use it to control your tv and cable (would be dumb to have to wait for the game pad come on for those functions), putting it back in its charging cradle when your not using it for an extended time is best I think.

Doesn't that reduce the total life of the battery? Or is that a myth? I typically wait until a battery is almost dead before recharging

Youtube seems akward, but to be fair, I find youtube awkward on almost any device except for a PC. PS3, Wii, iPhone, Android, it all is just harder to navigate and manage what you want to see.

I like the on-screen YouTube layout (even if it's a little, dare I say, Metro), but not what happens on the Gamepad so much. You should be able to navigate, make a playlist, etc.
I think it says on the box, 'No Hispanics' " - Jeff Green of EA

It's an exact copy of the PS3 one. The only thing they added was Gamepad sup-oh wait, no they didn't.

Just use the web browser. The fact that I view my subscriptions videos pisses me off.

That type of battery tech is old and isn't used in current tech devices that need to be recharged on a daily basis. Batteries haven't gotten to the point where we can run an iPhone or 3DS for 2-3 days on a single charge, but degradation through recharging is negligent to the point of obscurity, especially if you make it a habit of charging your devices daily anyway (or they live in their cradles).
