Batman is set to join other super heroes as he saves Gotham City.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment officially announced LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes for various Nintendo platforms.

LEGO Batman 2 is the next installment in the LEGO franchise of games. The game follows both Batman and Robin, joined by other DC super heroes including, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and Superman, as they save Gotham City from villains Lex Luther and the Joker. TT Games Managing Director Tom Stone said "LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes builds upon the action and cooperative gameplay experience established in our best-selling LEGO video game to date". 

LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes is developed by TT Games and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The game is set to launch on the Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, and Nintendo 3DS in Summer 2012.

Question: Why is it so easy for some games to be ported to ever platform under the sun? Yet, for other, more high-profile titles, we just get excuses like "it is too hard to down-port," "the control scheme is too unique," "it is too expensive," etc. etc...

I think in this case the game was designed to be possible on less powerful systems from the beginning. The original game was on PS2/GameCube/Xbox, and the mechanics haven't changed too much since then. Games that make extensive use of technology that's only on the high end consoles are a lot harder to adapt to systems that don't have those abilities.
