... Encyclopedia channel? Wikipedia Channel?

Adit: Also, I remember reading this bit of a newspaper where the show a map of the world and pinpoint major ecological events that took place recently. They'd have markers for major earthquakes, tsunamis, tornadoes, hurricanes... whale beachings, zoo outbreaks, strange migrations, etc. That would be a sorta neat thing that straddles the line between news and weather... offering up these real, but bizarre stories about our natural world.

I posted this somewhere else, but didn't Nintendo actually stat the whole "achievement" thing with SSBM and MS just took it to a system wide level. So wouldn't Nintendo actually just be expanding on something that they started, MS improved & and Sony just flat out copied?

A Wii Aquarium/Anthill/screensaver channel! It could be based on the "After Dark 3.0" screensavers of old, and even feature your Miis walking in now and again!

They could drop into the Aquarium, Press their noses against the anthill glass... have cameos in all the screensavers!

It really is. I mean, I don't even play Lemmings often anymore and it is hardly my favorite game series, but I did have quite a bit of fun with it back in the day. To me, Sony's exclusive rights to Lemmings is worse than EA's exclusive rights to the NFL. Exclusive rights in general are rarely good for the customer.

I like the idea of actually getting a screen saver. Personally I prefer to be able to have the news slideshow continuously cycling through, or show the weather in different locations. Plus the ones Kairon mentioned.

From the vague description, this sounds to be Nintendo's official take on places like Mii Plaza.net and Mii Mega mall where users can post their Mii creations, show it off and have people vote for them.

It might even work as a gallery where you post your Miis, then have them be shown around the world, then you can visit galleries featuring Miis and rate them.

Anything that makes Wii into a more social and connected system is a Good Thing in my book. Hearing Miyamoto's stories about his wife made me realize just how important the social aspect is to non-gamers. That's where I see Nintendo going with their online system: more social games and channels like Everybody Votes.

I wonder if this will be an upgrade to the Mii Channel. That would make the most sense. Just add a button underneath "Wii Parade" to "Show Off Mii" or whatever they want to call it.

I was at a session at GDC given by a developer from the UK who made "Buzz," a successful, quiz show music trivia "non-game" for the PS2 in Europe. The game was shipped with 4 actual big red buttons packed in so it was 4-player right out of the box. It was really successful in way that we've seen Nintendo's non-games be successful, having legs and benefitting from word of mouth, having new interfaces and being called names by the gaming press, and not having a particularly exciting launch (but GREAT Christmases).

That said... Nintendo needs a Quiz/Trivia Channel. Every day they'll post a different quiz on random bits of trivia, and Miis can take it. The next day, the quiz will be closed and they can see the answers and compare themselves to how other people did... then take the next quiz!
