TalkBack / Re: Wii U Firmware Update v2.1.3 Now Available
« on: March 05, 2013, 02:58:25 PM »
After the December patch I haven't had problems with hard locking. The update had me a little hopefully, but when to the support site. The next big patch that will have the VC is next month. Sigh, have to hold onto the money burning a hole in my pocket a little longer.

Well if it was close to being if NFS and Lego City do reasonably well, I kind of expect we will see it down the road. (And it probably will not sell well because of the same reasons AC and ME didn't sell well.) Because even though it seems EA is holding a grudge, I doubt they will room for any competition to grow especially if Take 2 decides to try and brings its sports titles to the Wii U.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Watch_Dogs officially announced for the Wii U

I was mildly interested in it from E3. But wasn't going to get it because of my funds going for a Wii U and games. But since it is coming to the Wii U, I guess I may be getting it. Will go well with my other digital acquisitions.

Nintendo Gaming / Like niche game? Support the eShop
« on: December 20, 2012, 02:53:49 PM »
I wrote this a bit ago, but I will post it here. Didn't see a related topic so I made a new one.

With Nintendo first loss in decades it seems that Nintendo is less willing to take risk when it comes to localizing titles especially with physical media. A good example of this would be the project Rainfall titles. The titles were translated and localized for Europe why did NoA bulk at localizing it for the US and Canada, the biggest reason is the investment that was still involved. Nintendo as a whole is a conservative company when it comes to taking risks. And profits were falling because of the rising yen and the long console cycle taking it toll. The media involved is the single biggest investment outside of originally developing a game for a publisher. Once it is made you cannot unmake it, and if you have a game were you expect it do a certin amount and it doesn’t cover the investment especially if they are only expect 100,000 titles the investment may not be worth it, since if it doesn’t sell you will be sitting on the unshipped discs. And the ET incident and more recently the Gamecube over production incident may be in Nintendo’s mind.

With the advent of their new machines they are also having digital copies of their game along side of the physical copies which softens the investment to localize titles, since there is an option of having it all digital in nature. So games like Project X Zone may see release outside of Japan, in the form of a digital release. More examples could be Radient Historia, if the digital version could of been offered the supply issues could of been avoided since they don’t run the chance of under-estimating the needs of the market also.
The problem is support where the support of the 3DS/WiiU eShop is better than the WiiWare it still not totally there yet, though there are promising results. So if there is a digital version I suggest buy it. It will show Nintendo and other publishers that there is a market for these games, and there is a market for games that may or may not originally see the day of light from the bigger publishers since the investment to bring them out will be lower so less games may be canceled because they are not considered projects that would make back the money.

Also promotions such as Nintendo’s Digital Deluxe Promotion may see an extension, which I would very much like to see since it is effectively reducing the price of the digital games 10%.
There are other benefits to supporting digital like helping smaller developers prove their worth so they can fund more ambitious titles.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: NWR Survey! What Wii U Games Do You Own?
« on: December 20, 2012, 02:47:07 PM »
I still have a few games to buy that came out at launch. Been trying to buy one game a check. I'm thinking of getting Trine this time since I had a few bills to pay. (Plus help my parents pay one)
I'm still planning on getting:
Ninja Gaiden
ACIII
Scribblenaughts (I know my spelling is horrible)
Trine 2
Skylanders Giants (Already have some of the figures)
Batman
MHIII (When it comes out in March)
Tekken
Plus some of the other digital releases that are not listed. (cloudberry kingdom)

It more than likely an OS snafu. It will be ironed out. I had problems with corrupted data, final figured out my HD was dying, so I have to buy a new one. I have freezing problems with my game even in the friends list. So it sounds like it a common problem.

« on: November 16, 2012, 12:39:49 PM »
Well Nintendo said they were considering bringing it to the other markets. And the ND showed the TVii icon so it is probally a good bet its coming to all markets. (Which may be another reason for the delay.)

61
Not to mention but after read and watching the information on the storage, the drives need to be formatted in a Wii U specific format, so it probally isn't FAT or NTFS but a custom file system to help speed up transmission.

TalkBack / Re: Nintendo TVii Delayed to December
« on: November 16, 2012, 12:14:20 PM »
Well since they worded it turned on, they probally have their end of the software done. It was probally Netflicks or Hulu who didn't have it done.

And I doubt the Wii Channel will work because it seems Nintendo sandboxed it so the Wii's exploits couldn't be used. So I know games that use the network and Connect24 do not work (for now) so if you want movies just keep the Wii Hooked into a different hook (if your TV has multiples).

TalkBack / Re: Wii U Pre-Orders Now Open at Walmart Stores Across U.S.
« on: October 15, 2012, 11:03:47 AM »
Just preordered mine at walmart. Was the first one. Yeah they only had the UPC for the Deluxe version in the folder. The employee who helped didn't even know it was happening. Thankfully they left the "Wii U Preorder Reservation Process handbook" on the counted of the Layaway. Took a picture of the wonderfully redundant folder.

TalkBack / Re: Wii U to Have 2GB Internal Memory
« on: September 13, 2012, 03:52:22 AM »
Well we know it will multi-task extremely well. Plus since there is resources set aside for it, network play/MiiVerse integration will not came at the cost of something in the game. The best news is the price I guess the lowest priced Wii U SKU will be about $250 considering the Wii's launch it may be $275 with a pack in title. I will probally get the "premium" though black console and 32 GB of storage.

I have noticed that she wear headphone like Nekku and has the cat doll similar to the female protagonist, so it may be their daughter several years afterwards. Just a little speculation.

TalkBack / Re: Wii U Possibly Launching on November 11
« on: September 04, 2012, 02:49:32 PM »
The November 11th date could just be the day they ship it to their clients. Since the distributor would get the system before launch so it can work through its channels, I know chains such as WalMart get their shipments days a head of schedule.

TalkBack / Re: Seriously Nintendo, Still No Word on NFC Features?
« on: August 26, 2012, 10:06:04 AM »
There is a rumor that BK will have NFC enabled toys at the end of October.

Source:
http://mynintendonews.com/2012/08/26/burger-king-to-start-selling-nfc-integrated-wii-u-toys-on-october-25th/

(speculation)In addition NFC enabled toys could house small games if the Wii U had a "NFC channel". You get a promo/toy from the store, and they wouldn't need to be bound to a certain title. Scan it you open a short game to play. Say there is a Kirby toy to celebrate the anniversary each toy would have a different game, collect them all. (/speculation)

A little more on the accomplishments. I final was able to see a closer view of ZombieU's Gamescon build. It seems there is a pop up message on the right of the screen. It seems to have to do with MiiVerse since it pops up what others are doing in the game at them time. And sometimes there is a trophy like icon in the pop. (The feed usually is this person gets infected or kills their last avatar.)

Just a warning this person has a really slow start.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Wii U in Review (News & Rumor Consolidation)
« on: August 16, 2012, 08:50:45 AM »
I'm not sure a leaked early and preliminary document counts as confirmation. Perhaps extremely encouraging, but not confirmation.
That's why I put a question mark.

I put it in the other rumor thread but two of the UbiSoft trailers seemed to be hinting at a trophy like accomplishment system. So there is thee items now that give hints to their system. I put my conjuncture on what in the other thread.

73
Well it is my conjecture seeing these three things that each game that supports it will give you some short of trinkets for the various accomplishments in the game. For example: Sport Connection trophies look a little like Heismans and the ones in the Rabbids look like gold cups with a R forged in them.

And you can pick and choose which ones you want to display in the MiiVerse, much like the trophy system on the PS3, and they will be handled in the simular way to what the Mii's do on the 3DS greet the person say something about them and show their accomplishments.

74
Here is soemthing else from GamesCon it seem the title Cars will have what they are calling Wii U accomplishments and are on the same chart as the 360's game score and PS3 trophies.

For those who are wondering about the possible achievement/trophy system the WiiU has optionally in place. I guess Ubisoft hinted at it plans in the GamesCon promo videos for Rabbid Land and and Sports Connection. In Sports Connection it is a corny display but if you watch the couch in the Rabbid's trailer there are a pile of trophies that slowly build up on the right.
