Nintendo Gaming / Fire Emblem!
« on: April 21, 2004, 06:26:17 PM »
I noticed there was no GameCube Fire Emblem discussion (aside from a short-lived TalkBack one) so I started one.

Is everyone else as excited about this game as I am?  I haven't yet played the GBA version (although I definitely want to), but I've been wanting to play Fire Emblem for years.  It's a completely different side of Nintendo.  Check out the screenshots/artwork at IGN or wherever else:  It's amazing.  I made the city artwork by new background.

Nintendo Gaming / "TOP SECRET" game with motion-sensing mine?
« on: January 10, 2004, 11:04:46 AM »
Does anybody remember the motion-sensing mine (not sure on the exact wording) in SSBM? In the place where it usually tells the name of the game, it says "TOP SECRET".  This was back in November 2001.  It's been over two full years, and I still have no idea what "TOP SECRET" game they mean.  IGN thought it was Metroid Prime, but it obviously isn't.  So what is it?!

NWR Feedback / Argh! PGC review madness.
« on: September 04, 2003, 02:31:07 PM »
Has anyone else noticed that PGC reviews seem to be extremely optomistic?  All of the following games have received a score of 10 out of 10:

F-Zero GX
Soul Calibur II
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Super Mario Sunshine
Metroid Prime
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

Doesn't that seem a bit excessive?  With the exception of F-Zero GX and and SCII, I have played everyone of these games, and not a single one of them is worth an absolute 10 in my opinion.  That's not to see they are bad games (They're very good), just that they aren't worth a 10.  On most sites, these games would score somewhere between 9 and 9.5 (with the exception of Metroid and Zelda).

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm going to be rather skeptical of PGC reviews from now on.

Nintendo Gaming / Another Zelda Game
« on: April 13, 2003, 05:16:54 PM »
Everyone's been talking about the style of the next Zelda game (Realistic or cel-shaded?), but nobody has said anything about the gameplay.  What are some of your ideas for the gameplay or story?  If anyone's noticed, the last three Zelda games have all been radically innovative in gameplay (the 3D of OoT, MM's time-warp thing, WW's ocean setting)

Personally, I'd love to see another visit to the Windfish's isle from Link's Awakening (awesome game), this time in 3D and cel-shaded.  If you haven't played it, the plot to Link's Awakening is quite original:  You are caught in someone else's dream.  Link crash-lands on a distant island, to find himself in the midst of another adventure.  He must gather several instruments (7?) and use them to awaken the dreamer, known as the Windfish.  I'd love to see another trip to that island.  The world could be totally different (a different dream/nightmare, obviously) and very weird.  I want it to actually seem like a dream in some parts.  Maybe the entire world could change depending on the Wind Fish's mood.  It would explain more about who the Wind Fish is.  It could also see the return of a few of the characters, such as Marin, as well as the awesome song, Ballad of the Wind Fish.

Another idea is a 2D side-scroller, done in the style of Super Metroid or Castlevania, but with more of an emphasis on puzzles.  It'd have action, too - that would actually be difficult.  I think it could be very cool, if you don't mind it being totally different.
