Absolutely.  It took about 5 minutes for me to learn the menus (many of which are labelled in Engrish anyway).  The only problem is that you won't know what instrument you're playing right away, but you can always go back and change it.  Song selection is fine in single player because the song plays before you choose it, but in multiplayer you're often just choosing at random (a few songs are labelled in English.)  By pressing L/R at the song selection screen you can switch between "styles" (videogame music, J-Pop tunes, etc.) so you kind of know what you're getting.

The Pro Edit mode is a little tougher, but there's a wonderful FAQ over at gamefaqs to help you with that.  I looked through it once and now I can cut and paste wth the best of them.

Protip: Knock on the door.  That took me a while to figure out.

how much did you pay for the import.  What place did you get it from.

Yeah, Band Bros. is great, and fairly import friendly.  I learned what I needed to know with the editor after 20 minutes of tinkering and no FAQ.

good to know.  Ill definitely import this one.  Plus I can buy the us version.  It will be like band bros ver. 1.2.  New music and such.

I've heard a good number of Band Brothers importers say that exact thing, hehe.

It is true tho...the US version will surely not have the cool jpop songs.

does the shaky wireless connection with the game make it any less worth it? I want to wait for the US release (if they're going to have it) where they will probably fix whatever bug was with it.

The connection does die out quite a bit, but it's not so frequent that it's not worth playingt.  Plus the download times are pretty quick (approximatley 15  seconds for two other DS, so I doubt it'll ever go above one minute), so even if it does lose its connection it's not THAT big of a deal to just reconnect.

I have to resurrect this old thread to ask a question: why, Why, WHY has this never been released outside of Japan???

I finally gave up hope of this ever being released here in the US, so a friend of mine living in Japan did me a huge favor in tracking down a copy for me. It arrived yesterday, and I'm just amazed. I'm amazed at the gameplay (which is fun, challenging and addictive), amazed at the cheesy-yet-crack-like nature of J-pop, amazed at the prospect of writing music in it later on, and most of all, I'M SIMPLY AMAZED THAT IT'S NEVER BEEN LOCALIZED.

Come ON, what are/were you thinking, NOA? There were some gaming draughts here that this game would have filled perfectly back when it was originally released in Japan. </rant>

Anyways, I'm something of a hobbyist composer, so when I unlock Pro Edit mode, maybe I'll post some original compositions here just for kicks.

I put the theme song to A boy and his Blob for the NES on there : ).  I would put up harder songs but it takes awhile to write in all those staffs manually : /.

Yeah, this game totally would have filled in that slow first half last year.  I still want it, but there are so many English games I have yet to play, I probably won't bother importing this one.
That's my opinion, not yours.
