I think the hardest hit for me was the "full retirement" from the site. Basically ending the story on his journey on NWR. Having been a reader since the green PGC days, that's what hit home the most.

Very sad Johnny is leaving, but very happy Greg is returning. If they made this trade every 3 years or so, I could live with that.

Yes on the official website, here is the article. http://www.smashbros.com/us/howto/entry10.html

Also mentioned in another thread but there you go.

Nice, thanks!

After the whole "can be used in games that support the Pro Controller" debacle, I wanted to be sure.

For 'Number 32' it wasn't mentioned in the video that you could use two adapters. Is this confirmed somewhere else?

Great episode guys!

This sounds like it was recorded around one microphone. Why'd you choose to go that route?

Is that really Link's Awakening? It looks a lot like Oracle of Seasons. But to my own fault, its been awhile since I have played LA.

Just wanted to let you guys know that the audio quality for this episode is great. The volume levels seem to be much improved too. Well done.

Audio is indeed great. However, I really dislike Zach's mic. He always seems to fade in and out.

I was pretty shocked too that Goldeneye had not been used before. Quality selection of tunes.

Metroid Prime was the Ocarina of Time for its decade.  It took a game property that was previously only in 2D and brought it to 3D the right way.  There was no blueprint for Retro to work from, just like Nintendo had no existing blueprint for Ocarina (aside from Mario 64, but the design challenges were completely different for each game).   When it was announced I had no idea how they would pull it off, but they did.

I must say that is an interesting perspective that I had never thought about. I tend to agree, although probably not enough to change my vote. I must admit, I should go back and play the game again, as I haven't done so since it was released.

I threw down Majora's Mask. The mood and the atmosphere of the game pretty much does it for me. Add in the music, the story and just classic Zelda gameplay there is no other choice. Also, I can never get enough of the Song Of Healing.

Really happy to see that Majora's Mask made the list.  Bravo, gents.

I second that completely. The game will probably be my pick. And I can't remember who it was, Greg or Jonny, but they were hammering all the right points.

That was an extremely great discussion. Strong arguments on all sides. I also want to say Melee was also the first Gamecube game I played when the Cube Club came around.

TalkBack / Re: Iwata Not Impressed by iPad, 3D Gaming
« on: January 31, 2010, 08:54:20 AM »
With the iPad, I mean, it's not a Netbook.  It's quite literally a big iPod Touch.  OK, it doesn't run OSX, it can't multitask, it doesn't have a camera so you can't do video chat...what are you going to buy it for?  iBooks?  People aren't buying the Kindle to do that, why would they pay even more to do so on the iPad?

Furthermore, you gotta pay $30/month for 3G access, which is a must for a device pulling down as much web data as the iPad does.  I've done web browsing over EDGE on a Blackberry and it was garbage, and I can't imagine doing it on my iPhone.

The iPad is a lot like the PSP in my eyes.  It's cool technology, but it's servicing a market that doesn't exist...its banking on being able to create a market from scratch.  And like the PSP, I don't think it's unique or compelling enough to do that.

You're right, the iPad is not a netbook, but I think that is the point. The iPad has a better screen than a netbook, a better form factor than a netbook, and arguably a better way to interact with the device than a netbook. In a way I think Apple is saying to people who have netbooks and netbook makers that we used to have a "netbook", and it was called a tablet.

Now, I wasn't blown away with the iPad, yet I can see myself using it for the things it was demoed for. However even more importantly, I can see the potential of the device. Games and music apps are just some of the things that I could see making some big impacts. I for sure wouldn't mind a RTS on this device or a cool piano app with a screen large enough to play.

I think the iPad in general is meant to attack the netbook market, and with it I can't see myself getting one now.

(Side note: I am disappointed in the lack of multitasking. Hopefully it comes with 4.0)

We'll repeat the questions, for sure.

Status: Current lineup for RFN Live is Jon, James, Karl, and myself. Greg can't commit right now, but there is still a small chance he will be able to come. I have asked PAX East to reserve an extra chair for special guests, and Greg would clearly be first among those if he ends up attending.

The lineup sounds great, hopefully Greg can make it out!

It's the funny, the older I get the more I appreciate and am shocked at how amazing Majora's Mask really is.

Awesome, I will for sure be there.

It's great to have this "grand scale" but if there is nothing to do in it, then what is the point?

To sell it to fans that don't know any better.

Probably, but I try not to be that cynical.
