I'd just thought I'd post this. If you're really into strategy and wanted to know what I was thinking for this game and how I got through the crucial parts and tried to set things up. Here you go. If you ar an insomniac and you can't sleep. Here you go. Trust me. It works. I bored Zach to tears with this. On the last day, we were talking things over and I just let him know everything. Although, I did add a few more things.
(Keep in mind. This is a convo to Zach. So, that's who I'm often refering to.)
When I started this game, I looked at the number situation. It was possible for us to win the game at day 4 with a 2-2 townie/mafia ratio. And if it happened, great. But I had a feeling it might go to day 5 with a 3-1 ratio. I even began thinking of a scenario for such an occasion. Basically, that Decoyman would start and lead a vote against me on Day 4. Hopefully, it would make him look the most innocent. After all, when your mafia has a chance to win that day, why would you vote out on member and risk your chances? I never mentioned these plans because I wanted to wait and see how things unfolded.
Everything was fine until the start of day 3 with your announcement. I began running through scenarios and wondering what I could. So, I made my attack in a hope to confuse people. I also decided it would be best to start putting my death plan into action. I waited first. After all, it was you and me voting for each other and Ceric doing whatever. But then Drew voted for me. So, I sent Decoyman a pm and told him to vote for me. I told him that under no circumstances, no matter how tempting, should he change his vote. Even if it gets me voted out, keep it on me. After all, we both knew who would be proven right after that night and you don't want to be on the wrong side. I then began seeing what support I could drum up and disproving some of your very good arguments.
Talking to Ceric was very interesting. He told me his supicions in the game. He felt Decoyman or Dasmos was mafia. He said that he and Decoyman had worked together in the past and so far during this game, Decoyman hadn't really contacted him. That was suspicious. Dasmos, he just had an unsure feeling about. I remained neutral to his suggestion about Decoyman, saying that I had never worked with him in a mafia game, so I didn't know what his behavior is normally like. And that was true. This was the first time working together. I also added my two cents about Dasmos.
At the same time, I was talking with Dasmos. He asked me some questions and I responded as best as I could since I was taking the guise of an unsure townie. I also let him know my convo with Stabby and that seemed to do it.
Ceric, for some reason, thought that we were both innocent and were going after the wrong people. He wanted to know if I would start or join a vote against someone else. Although it was a possibilty, I reasoned well on why I couldn't. Then when Dasmos voted with me, I sent Ceric a message and he joined in the vote. He didn't think it was worthwhile though. He felt the best we could achieve was a tie. I let him know that Drew was on the fence and that would give us the advantage. He also thought that the mafia would kill me tonight in revenge. But, I gave another good explanation on why they might not. So, he finally seemed locked up with me.
Stevey sent me a note saying that he believed me and then started talking about 4 mafia members and how they all might be voting for me. I didn't bother trying to set him straight about the game. I just let him think whatever he was thinking and made sure he was with me. It was then that I felt Stevey would be a usefu ally to have to the end. And then, I somehow had it. A tie. I was just waiting for Drew to help me do the unthinkable. I was as cordial as possible but there was no budging him. Decoyman was probably anxious to change his vote and complete the coup but I sent him another pm telling him to stay against me.
Since I might have been out of the game right away, I wrote out two scenarios for him and Blackfootsteps to follow. One if I lived and one if I died. Who to keep, who to hit and how to act. Since Decoyman was friend's with Drew, he had been having conversations with him and learned he was the doctor. He also learned Drew would be giving him protection. This made it very hard for him to hit Drew even though that was required in both scenarios. When the coin flip came up positive, we both freaked out and all in the mafia expressed their amazement at the coup. We then sat down and planned out the future. We all knew I was goner now but how do we set-up Decoyman to go to the end looking innocent? We decided it was key to hit the other people who voted for me. Keeping around those who voted with me gave more suspicion to them. Plus, I had learned what some of them were thinking.
Since Decoyman was hesitant about Drew, we went with a hit on Stabby first. Now that my accusations against him would be proven false, it seemed best to remove him and keep other townies from contacting someone clearly above suspicion. I ran over who would be the best people to go up against at the end. It was obvious Drew would have to go. Also, to keep anyone from looking to far ahead, I was just going to go and be as big a distraction as I could. At the same time, I wanted to just remain neutral about everyone. So, I did my vote for everyone mockery thing in the voting thread. If someone wanted to examine that, let them, it would provide nothing. Everyone I had voted for before was dead, so they could get nothing from my voting record. I didn't vote that day because I didn't want people misreading it.
As the votes slowly piled in, I began to wonder if there was anything I could do to change the votes. Drew had made a post about me digging my own grave, so I started talking to him a bit. I even sent him a plan suggesting he vote for anyone but me. Then, I'd join him in the vote. Maybe my other mafia partner would join me and make it a tie. He rejected the idea of course and then I realized a better strategy. Tell him to go along with the idea or he would be killed in the night. I then sent that message out to everyone. I also made sure my partner got the message. And just for fun, I even made sure Dasmos' message was worded differently just in case people started comparing notes. I remember what happened to Decoyman in S-U-P-E-R's game.
Then, lo and behold, Stevey chickened out after getting my message. So, then I sent him another one commending him for his decision and stated that if he revoted for me, he would die for sure since that betrayal would be worse than the others who are currently voting for me. That kept Stevey out for the night and made him look worse. Best of all, he posted a message asking how many mafia there were. I decided I better post something about that. It was just a joke but people could read what they wanted out of it. Things were going along great.
Drew, probably thinking he was the only one who had a death threat, made a plea to the doctor to get me to double guess hitting him. It seems my death threat idea had him prepared to meet his end. I think this helped Decoyman ok the hit against him. Now it wouldn't be such a terrible shock for him. Plus, it had to be the 3 who voted with me still at the end. After all, it would seem very likely that one of them was a traitor who tried to help save me. Decoyman was the last standing of the original vote only because I couldn't hit them all in time and Drew and I seemed to have had a bigger fight. Plus, it got rid of the doctor and kept it from looking like Decoyman was mafia. Why would he hit his friend when they had been working together all this time? Not to mention, he was getting support from him. Not that people knew that. It left us with these people left.
Ceric - suspicious voting habits. Voted with me. He knows he told me about Decoyman and Dasmos. Might wonder if I let him live because he didn't suspect who my mafia buddy really is, Stevey.
Stevey - mixed up about the rules. This mix-up might make him easier to fool. Voted with me. Didn't vote against me. Plus, my comment about him.
Dasmos - voted with me and started the rally. Quiet, so you can't get a read on him. But he is experienced. Could be trying to fly under the radar. Plus, set him up with a differently worded threat.
Decoyman - voted against me the whole time. He did vote for TVMan but that's because he agreed with my strategy of not letting non-voters live. Plus, I was the one who started the bandwagon against TVMan. Really, hasn't done anything wrong. Lost his friend Drew who was working with him.
Still, why is Decoyman the only survivor of the voters with Zach? That's the only suspicious area. That and his non-vote at the start. Fortunately, I did call himout on that earlier in the game along with other people. He could use that as back-up. But the plan to make him look most trustworthy at the end paid off.
For final advice, I told him not to accuse anyone because you don't want to draw attention to yourself. Also, don't start a vote. After all, anyone you vote for is innocent and they know it. At the same time, don't appear eager to join a vote or start a bandwagon. Play it cool. Let others contact you. You will seem the most trustworthy so let them come to you. If you do get a vote, don't lose your cool and don't get into a debate like I do. Calmly pm the person and see if there's anything you can do to change their mind. If you do have to post something, keep it short and do not look like you are trying to spread suspicion.
He wrote me back saying he had planned for today, so I wasn't sure what he was going to do exactly. I was worried when he did finally join the vote for Stevey. It might have been best to be the third to vote. It did get a vote from Stevey. Also, I was afraid his post in the dead thread might come off as too pro-townie and garner some suspicion.
Finally, it should be stated that everything just seemed to fall into place when we needed. We discussed our hits the first day and I laid out an order for us to follow. I didn't really want this to get out as I'm sure it will make more enemies for me next game but what the heck? I'm drunk with voctory now. Vudu was the first choice. He is a powerful townie and I had just finished watching him win my mafia game. Plus, I felt he wouldn't trust me much. And since I was going after non-voters in the voting thread. It was best we kill voters at night. The next choice on the list was TVMan. He was who I was planning to vote for the next day anyways, so it made Vudu an even bigger priority.
Surprisingly, Decoyman started the TVMan vote. I waited until Stabby finally posted and then I joined in the hunt. Best of all, others seem to agree on this choice. One other nice point, Zach for some reason decided to vote for Stevey. Stevey responded with a vote that sounded like he still had a vendetta against Zach. That was what I had hoped. Maybe Stevey could be used to vote for Zach and 18 Days if needed. On the list I had given, Dasmos was the next hit, followed by 18 Days. However, I was away late and when I got online, I learned that they had decided to hit 18 Days instead tonight. Blackfootsteps had agreed with my assement that she could be quite vocal in her suspicions and was good at forming a townie alliance. So, he felt she would be the better target. I can't fault him for that. Plus, it means there was at least one death I wasn't responsible for. Spak-Spang being the other.
These early deaths were a big factor in how I got away with my Fox Deception. I seriously doubt Vudu would have bought it. He's been on my case a few mafia's. Especially S-U-P-E-R's mafia. Same for TVMan. I highly doubt that he would have supported me. 18 Days. I don't know how she would have reacted. But since Dasmos had been the other choice and he worked with me, it definitly looks like the right choice was made. In the end, I'd like to say it was pure strategy that got us the win but I recognize the luck. The Dasmos hit and the coin toss. Like I said, things just seemed to go right.
Did anyone have any other questions?
