this game looks neat, seems to make good use of the touchscreen.

Very very nice.  Although it seems to fall back to the touch screen mini game mentality in a few parts, it still has high production values.  The DS needs more of these games on shelves...

Yeah, water does that sometimes.

And oh, how bad the VA work is. Bill is sugar-coating it. Still great to see another genre getting attention with the DS. It'll be interesting to see how the touch screen will work in a young-girl-and-boy-against-the-environment game. Log rolling GOTY? The fishing looks good anyway.

I'm glad there's finally a 3D RPG on the DS, you know, since most DS games are all 2D. =P

I just really hope they fix the guy's shoulders and get rid of that wretched voice acting...

It looks like they found a way around the none existant texture filtering.  Not sure though.

I think they're just using higher resolution textures for those minigames.

I loved Stranded Kids on the GBC. This is kind of a successor to it and I simply can't wait!!!

This and Another have the potential to be great games for the DS. I hope they do play fantastically and get the sales that they deserve if they do!

I don't know much about this one yet, but I saw the screens Ben put up, and I am quite interested in checking it out.

Im not talking about the minigames.  If you compare mario ds textures to those in lost in blue theres a big difference.  Mario ds's textures are playstation style blocky.  Maybe thats just because mario was a port.

Or perhaps Mario has more different objects onscreen and therefore less memory per object?

Did anyone happen to see this game at E3? I know it was scheduled to be there, but it seems to have gotten lost in the shuffle with all the higher profile DS titles being shown.

Yeah, it was there.  One of the cooler things about it was a cooking mini-game.  At one point you had to close the lid on the pot.  To do this, you had to close your DS and count to twenty, I think.  Sadly, all the DS systems were bolted down, so you couldn't actually do it.  But it was a bloody brilliant idea.

I thought the DS automatically went into sleep mode when it was closed?  Is this something that's programmed into the hardware, or it is in the individual games?

I don't think the DS hardware handles sleep mode... if it did wouldn't GBA games sleep too?

No, because the GBA hardware in the DS is seperate from the DS hardware.  At least I think so.

Sleep mode is software. Some games don't properly support it, such as the Metroid demo. The demo will only shut off the screen, while the game continues to run 'paused.' Other games will properly suspend the system. So it's up to the software to go into sleep. Is this something Nintendo would be very controlling of with 3rd party games?

Doesn't Nintendogs have the option to close the screen and bark if other dogs are in the area?

I assume closing the lid merely sends a "lid closed" signal to the software, with a recommadation to activate sleep mode then. Kinda like how clicking the X button on a window in Windows will send it a signal with the recommendation to quit. Clicking it multiple times will make Windows ask if you'd like to send a SIGKILL, though.
