My Life as a Dark Lord to Feature Pay to Play

The tower defense Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles title will feature downloadable content at an additional cost.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Dark Lord is available for purchase in the Japanese WiiWare service, but players are warned when they buy the title that it features additional downloadable content.

Just like in the previous game in the series, FFCC: My Life as a King, players have the option of downloading these extras at a price. Some of these additions include new spells, new costumes for the game's lead character, new monsters, and new items.

The cost for all the items comes at 1200 Nintendo Points ($12), 200 Points more than the price of the actual game (1000 Nintendo Points). Costumes cost 200 Nintendo Points ($2) while the items, monsters, and spells will be available for 100 Nintendo Points ($1).

Additionally, Square Enix has said that there will be two expansion stages available down the line for 500 Nintendo Points ($5) each.

My Life as a King and its DLC must've sold well if Squenix is doing a follow up for it. Are we still miffed with their DLC pricing or are we over it?

Weren't the extra costumes in MLaaK only 100? They must have sold enough to feel comforatble raising the prices to 200.

I may get this game but after the underwhelming DLC in the previous game (not all of it, just most of what I got) I'm very sceptical this time around.

I'd like to point out that an IGN article about this can't do math. They have the total amount that you'd spend on the current in-game content as $14. So I guess IGN wants to throw $2 in the garbage...

Also, they referred to Red Fly Studios as the developers of the Ghostbusters DS, which is factually inaccurate.

They're also considered one of the biggest video game outlets online.

New levels for $5 each? They'd have to be very substantial at that price!

I doubt they will. Didn't the add-on levels/races in MLaaK cost $5 each? Or were they less?

I spent too much on that games DLC and I didn't even use half of it. And then I find out half of it is unlocked after you beat the game!  >:(

They usually added a few dungeons, some items, and a race

I never saw the bundle option to buy all three races so I bought them separately.

Remember the podcast where you guys talked about Chime and the hearts she exuded? I think it was James that was mostly talking about it.

I thought so too but recently the internet seems to have become a huge competition in who can become the biggest joke in gaming publications.
