Did you read what I wrote? I said that it doesn't matter much from a logic standpoint, but it is a bad thing psychologically. You don't think morale matters?

Psychologically.  That's a word worth looking at. Psycho-, in brief, means "Mind."  Logic, in a word, means "reasoning." You're contradicting yourself when you say logically, it doesn't mean anything, but psychologically, it means something.  If you can logically deduce it's meaningless, psychologically, you've deduced it doesn't matter. Morale is affected by logic, and I think for the people it matters, few-to-none would find the notion that the recently-discounted PSP, the PSP which also received a major title in the week of sales we're discussing, slightly outsold a new, more expensive handheld widely criticized for a lack of launch games demoralizing.

No one cared back when the PS2 was outselling the Wii. Few saw an issue when the NES still had games being made after the SNES and Genesis were released.  The PSX was given a major new look and a portable screen when the PS2 came out, and it sold like hotcakes.  Again, no one really cared all that much.  Comparing sales numbers to an election doesn't work.  It's senseless.  Elections and console sales aren't even apples and oranges.  They're apples and jellyfish, maybe.

I read what you said. When I respond to people, I read what they say first.  That way, my response can be adequate.  I understand some people respond to threads without reading what's been said, but I do read before I respond.

Not sure why anyone care about the 3DS sales at this point.  Nothing major launched with the unit and it was launched in March.  Wait until winter and more software is available.  I willing to bet it's going be pretty much sold out around X-mas time.

DeBlob 2 numbers are coming in--damn this game didn't sell on any platform.  Damn shame IMO :(.

Woo hoo! EDF! EDF! EDF!
Shame that Earth Defence Force 2 Portable suffers from a horrible frame rate due to how many giant bugs and huge explosions there are on screen.

I see that Nintendogs + cats and Professor Layton are still charting. Oh! And Donkey Kong Country Returns too. Come on Donkey Kong, you can reach 1 million in Japan.

I don't think it's going to make it. If it continues at its current pace, it will get there in 30 weeks... but sales keep slowing so I don't think that will happen.

Woo hoo! EDF! EDF! EDF!
Shame that Earth Defence Force 2 Portable suffers from a horrible frame rate due to how many giant bugs and huge explosions there are on screen.

So it's a faithful port of EDF 2 then?

Haha! I guess it is.
From what I could find on Youtube, it looks like the PS2 Earth Defence Force 2 is able to handle far more stuff on screen before the frame rate starts to chop up badly.

I'm really curious why NPD counts both versions of the latest Pokemon as separate SKUs.  They're the same damn game.

Good question. I guess the different names throws them off. Then again, that wouldn't explain why limited editions are counted with their base game.

Really surprised Homefront charted so high. Maybe it's the marketing that I haven't been paying attention to.
Crysis 2 is kinda low. I guess it's the late March release. Despite it being dumbed-sequel and yet-another-FPS, I hope it gets whatever success it can earn; I quite liked what I played of its predecessors.
Can't use the same excuse for Fight Night Champion which was released on March 1st. I'm not in to fighting, sports, or simulation games, but Champion looked really cool.

It makes sense to me, because many people buy both so it inflates sales. What doesn't make sense is why they would separate them but not multiplatform releases, which usually have differences across platforms.

Yeah, that was my point.  NPD made a big deal about the fact that they were combining SKUs now, but apparently Pokemon is still allowed to be treated as separate releases.  Double-standard, much?

Wii - 290k

I wonder if this had something to do with the Wii price cut to $150. You have to figure Nintendo has access to these sales figures well in advance of when we get them, so they knew about this and probably decided it was time for a price cut. But even though a price cut will boost hardware sales, it isn't really going to address the fact the top 10 is devoid of Wii software.

I don't think anything new has been released for the Wii in 2011....

But i'll bet that Mario Kart and NSMBWii are in the Top 30-50 still

It's nice that Ghost Recon did relatively well. Probably not that impressive in terms of numbers, but on the higher end of the launch.

Steel Diver is the only new franchise in the 3DS top 10. Everything else you can get on other systems. This has to be at least part of the reason why 3DS sales have stalled. I'm sure that will change once more games start to show up for it.

Actually that's not true, from what I've read, Ghost Recon is a turn-based tatics game for the 3DS.  Namely a spinoff with the same title, but it's 100% exclusive I think.

Well, he's talking about franchises, as pointless as that may be (Pilotwings hasn't seen a new game for MANY years so counting it as nothing new is pretty silly).

Well in the case of Pilotwings I heard there was one in development for the Wii, but I looked and it appears it was canceled. Maybe the 3DS version is based from that? But I was wrong because I had assumed a Wii version did exist.

Factor 5 was supposedly developing Pilotwings Wii.

Nintendo pulled all funding from the company and that part of the reason why they went under.

They most likely had a good reason if you look at Factor 5's Star Wars: Rogue Squadron 3 - Rebel Strike and Lair. Those two games have their fair share of problems. Even though I still hold some love for it, Rogue Leader doesn't hold up well as a flight combat game when you compare it to the Ace Combat series. Oh, how it would be so lovely to have Project Aces take a crack at a Star Wars space fighter game. They already have lots of experience in making trench and tunnel runs for high speed aircraft.
