Podcast Discussion / Re: Episode 299: Premature Evacuation
« on: July 30, 2012, 01:47:59 PM »
Having Greg back this week was great. If he would keep coming back once or twice every other month or so that'd be enough to get me by. His presence on the show is missed and I'd really look forward to bimonthly Leahy editions.

I also wanted to thank James for bringing up Republic Commando. It's one of my favorite games of all time. I remember when it first came out, I marathoned the entire game (8 hours) only stopping to eat dinner. I was hyped for months because of the demo they released on another game. I went on to read all four of the books. There was a lot of interesting drama surrounding the author, Karen Traviss, and Lucasarts at the time the Imperial Commando book came out. Basically Lucasarts wanted to bring the Mandalorians in a different direction with Star Wars: The Clone Wars and they declared essentially all Republic Commando content non-cannonical.

What did you think of the game "Contact" from 2006?

Please make podcasts twice a week. I need more podcasts to listen to while I'm working.

I just hope they release it soon, A) because I love Intelligent Systems games and B) the sooner this (and Paper Mario) are out, the sooner Intelligent Systems can begin work on the next ADVANCE WARS! I love those games. I need a 3DS version soooo bad.

TalkBack / Re: Harvest Moon: A New Beginning Announced for 3DS
« on: May 30, 2012, 01:40:13 PM »
I am perpetually hoping for a bland update of the Harvest Moon series. No touchscreen mini-games, no hokey social interactions (I'm looking at you A Wonderful Life). My favorites are the most vanilla of the series. The original, Harvest Moon 64, Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town. The GBC ones weren't bad, but they didn't have as much depth. I basically just want updated graphics. If they could add multiplayer elements, like a friend coming to your farm for awhile to help clear your fields that'd be cool too as long as they didn't botch it.

Hey guys, just finished listening to this episode of the podcast. I have to say YES, I miss the Mario 64 format so much. It's definitely my favorite Mario game, I used to walk to Blockbuster Video and play their kiosk for hours on end only stopping to go to the bathroom at the grocery store across the street.

The last Mario game I played was Mario Galaxy 2 because it got so much positive press. I liked it, but I love the friendly free open world Mario 64 had. Mario 64 is epic, iconic, and filled with so much charm. I don't feel like Nintendo games have as much charm as Mario 64 or Paper Mario anymore, maybe Chibi-Robo or Pikimin.

I plan on getting Super Mario 3D Land fairly soon but have been holding off because I know it's not Mario 64 2.

Definitely agreed with you guys about Nintendo making the experience bite-sized. I need those big open world experiences.

Just finished Chapter 7, got Ross upgraded to Pirate. Remembering why I quit this game last time lol. Have to restart sooo much. Not quitting this time though. I just gotta make it to the grinding tower and it shouldn't be too bad.

Do you think the Circle Pad Pro is required for Snake Eater 3D?

I voted for Fire Emblem because I never beat them. I'm a perfectionist and get soo pissed when one of my units dies. Maybe retroactive will make me finally finish one, Advance Wars are some of my favorite games.
