Mario Kart DS still pops up on the NPD Top 10 & the MC/Famitsu ones too from time to time. That's why.

It is an Evergreen title and will likely sell for the life of the handheld, like NSMB or WiiFit, WiiPlay & Mario Kart for Wii.

WiiWare games could be like that too. They are downloadable so they will always be available. Why not advertise for them?

Well they do advertise them on the Nintendo Channel.

I think Mop meant other than the weekly VC/WW e-mail Nintendo sends out to subscribers. In Japan they actually have commercials for WiiWare games and advertise the new channels.

Yeah I wonder where all those "PS3 in trouble" editorials are?  I hope Marvelous has a temper tantrum about one of their PSP games flopping, though the cynic in me doubts it.

My main beef with most of those PS3 games is that they should have been made on Wii.  Even if they sold the same, you'd save money on development.

Japanese third parties totally fail at economics this gen.

I have a question about Wii Sports Resort.

Can we still consider it a "casual" game when people have been pre-ordering the hell out of it?  I mean doesn't the whole idea of "casual" sorta preempt the whole notion of pre-ordering?

Maybe its the "gamers" that are pre-ordering it for their "casual" friends/family since the "gamers" are trying to get the "casuals" to play something other than WiiSports, WiiPlay, & WiiFit for atleast the last year if not longer.

Or maybe because the "gamers" are excited to play the "casual" game of WSR too?

Anybody know the actual total sales of Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G? For some reason the "BEST" (which is like the Japanese version of the Greatest Hits line) version of games are tracked separately. So the "PSP The Best" version of the game has sold 807K, but the game itself has sold a lot more.

What I find funny is that BlazBlue has 2x as many PS3 sales as 360 sales despite the PS3 having a 3x larger userbase.

Can a casual be hardcore at being casual?  That's some Zen, right there.

Casuals are pretty damn hardcore about their games (go play Tetris against a casual gamer...), they just aren't hardcore about buying many games or dealing with the whole gaming "culture". They're just people who love some games. Obviously the label got applied by people who didn't have a clue and it's hilarious to see people argue "casual gamers do X because they're casual".

"Casual" gamers enjoy games that is what they primarily care about, self proclaimed "hardcore" gamers think their opinion matters more then anyone else and think they are special. One doesn't care about ego, one tries to make up for low self esteem.

That is how I will define those categories from now on.

LOL.  I didn't mean to spark a definition clavern.  Just picture somebody who's really hardcore and concentrating really hard on having a fleeting interest and a yeah-whatever flippancy about video games.
