Nintendo Gaming / We've only had 14 seconds of Zelda Wii U gameplay in a year!

HOW THE HELL IS THIS OK?!?!?  Yes, a rational person will say that the game is probably 6-9 months away at the very earliest so be patient. Others say "waiting for the NX side port" I haven't picked up XCX yet so forgive me but this has been a really shitty holiday for Nintendo with 2 of the big 3 titles delayed to next year. We still got some solid looks at Star Fox even with a 6 month delay. WHERE THE HELL IS ZELDA!?!? HOW THE HELL IS THIS OK?!?!

Nintendo Gaming / Any Chance the NX will support 4K?

I want to buy a new Tv and I'm thinking about getting a 4K. Problem is,  there is gaming console supporting this. (Although I expect the PlayStaion 4k sometime in the next 12 months). Nintendo hasen't been first in resolution in quite some time, if ever and I'm sure the resources needed to do 4K/30fps with graphics in the realm of current gen would be around a ps4 with 16GB of DDR5. I'm sure Nintendo magic is scalable and maybe possible with 8GB DDR5 and a card 305 faster than a 7870.

Her birth father is Anakin Skywalker and her adoptive father is Senator Bail Organa. I dont know about her other mom but "Queen Amidala" was elected and was not part of a monarchy. So whats this Princess tish about? Was Bail also King? Is Luke secretly a Prince (thereby making Spaceballs far more accurate)? Maybe "Princess" is also an elected title and she keeps the name as homage to her dead planet? *insert shoulder shrug here*

General Chat / So the Pope is coming to Philly this week and getting to work...

So I work in Downtown Philadelphia and the "World Meeting of Families" is this week with the Pope coming in on Friday. They are shutting this city down. Trains, Subways, Buses and Trolleys all either suspended or diverted. Bridges  to a fro are closed starting Friday morning and reopening Monday Afternoon. And me? My office is right in the heart of the city across the street from the Liberty Bell and Independence Mall (which already has 24h, armed Park Rangers since 9/11). This is going to be insane this week.  There is expected to be and extra 1.5 MILLION people in the city this week. Probably working from home when it gets really crazy.  Going to take mad pictures videos! Wish me luck!

Seems like the information released over the last week could have been done in a ND. I think if Iwata was still here we would of had one right about now. Shovel Knight Amiibo alone is enough to warrant at least a Mini ND. Is it too soon or should we not expect them anymore?

GamePad is broke again and I'm going to ask Nintendo 1 more time for a free replacement (another thread) but if its a no then its 129.99 plus to get it fixed/replaced. But then I got this idea. A used Wii u is like $209 used and I can put the extra unit upstairs in my bedroom. I need to do this so as I fell in love with Splatoon today and will be getting that Amiibo pack come Friday.


To sum up.


Fix the GamePad save $80 and buy more games?


Buy used Wii U spend extra coin but have Wii u upstairs?


Remember My house is that house where all the family kids congregate.

I'll keep this short. In the last 10 years I've purchased for myself the following Apple products:


27" iMac i5
17" PowerPC iMac
3 MacBooks
4 ipods
2 iPads


So yeah, I am an Apple fan but I must say I really slept on this Surface product. The build quality is outstanding. The OS is quite responsive albeit gimped by not being a real Windows 8.1 product. MicroSD slot. The screen is quality HD. The camera is solid not great. The lack of apps are noticeable and obviously small but on a device with a "Real" web browser it is less of an issue than I originally thought. (also my kids can play all those flash based Y8 games in all their mediocre glory) But the biggest win for me is the 3.0 USB onboard. While Apple is obsessed with how thin they can make there products (also a metric I'll never understand) they have, in my opinion limited the ability to use the device to its max potential. Flashdrive/hardrive? Check! Printer? Check! Xbox360 controller Check! Hell I even started a ping of Comcast DNS while troubleshooting some voip phones in the hallway of the gig all for....$199.99. (on sale at MicroCenter or Amazon)




I realize this isn't for every body and it has its flaws (Windows Rt) but for me there has never been a more all around complete tablet experience.


Also Halo: Spartan Assault is really awesome.

Nintendo Gaming / Does the SD slot on the Wii U do anything for the Wii U?

Or is it there just for wii backwards compatibility? I was thinking (again) games like Xenoblade X and Zelda U are going to be pushing the limits of 25GB of space. Since the price of SD media is fairly cheap could a company pack in a pre formatted  card with additional content that has to be inserted to play. I am aware that day one patches also can remedy this issue but that seems less intuitive than simple add a card in the box. Like adding a 8GB card in the box.


But I don't think the SD slot does anything for the U anyway so it may be a moot theory.

Unless they are revealing some new hardware I'm going to say yes. For Nintendo, Treehouse  Live and the Digital event were some off the only things Nintendo has absolutely nailed over the last 5 years. I hope this is the wave of the future and not a one off.

I am not talking about the parent or the uncle or the grandma. I'm talking about "us", the gamer and the gaming press. I remember watching E2 3011 on G4 and after the reveal the panel seemed to be confused about if it was a add-on for the Wii (Adam Sessler in particular). "Did they watch a different press conference than the one I just watched? They said new console  a bunch of times. They said HDTV and showed that Zelda Demo, which any person worth their salt could determine was not possible on a Wii. Yes, they only passively showed the new console to focus on the GamePad but still. This has always boggled my mind. I can't remember the reaction here, but I remember many " " post around the net.

What the hell is this ****! The bottom is in pristine condition but there are some flaws in the art on the disc and now it won't load (and its more than one game) When did this become a thing or is it just my luck?

     I was just looking at Kirby and the Rainbow Curse ( 1080p 60 right?) with a sense of wonder at just how fluid and beautifully the game runs. While most of that is Art direction over technical prowess it got me to thinking about this topic. When I mean not possible I don't mean GamePad stuffs and the like, I mean would the game suffer considerably in playability if it were attempted on a 7th Hokage console.


Mario Kart 8 is the only thing that comes to mind but that may even be possible.


What say you?

So I know reality TV isn't real to its core and embellishments are taken to improve the palp of the content. With that being said, I used to work at a place called Forman Mills for like 10 years and I know the inner working pretty well. (it's pretty much Ross/Burlington Coat Factory/ Marshalls)


Guys, this dude Rick Forman was the King of the douchebags while I worked there. I worked in the store and at the corporate offices from time to time and I would just marvel at just how he felt he could talk down to anybody* he wanted. (He never talked down or yelled at black guys cause he thought he'd get his ass whooped and he was right)


Long story short, all the stuff on tv he seemed so shocked about was all his own policies and procedures. This MF had the nerve to be shocked that his register system is out of date(its running a ver. of DOS 3.1 still, in 2015) when I was in the meeting with him in like 09 where the VP told him that he's loosing money to shrink in blahs blah blah....LIES, ALL LIES! I'm watching this show like "bitch please". Hopefully he keeps his promise to the folks that work there but I'm dumb for thinking that it's not  just an elaborate PR stunt!




(he came in the store one day, through a rack of sweaters across the sales floor,while the store was open in front of customers and said "Don't fix that ****, just sell it")

General Chat / Was Superman II always a bad movie?

So I just watched it on ION (positively entertaining) and I never remember it being so campy and just bad. The SFX was bad even for the time, I mean this came out after Star Wars and that still looks pretty ok considering. Have I been sleeping this whole time or was this obvious? I tend to miss obvious things.


Example:
( I never knew the picture on the box of pasta reflected the type of pasta in the box).

I didn't wanna derail the main movie thread with this nonsense.

Or something? I would think that Zelda is Nov and I don't expect Star Fox to be released before summer but isn't kinda rare for a game of this "magnitude" to be kept so under raps. Am I missing something?

So my daughter found Super Mario Sunshine in the bottom of a scuzy duffle bag. She wanted to play and the only Mario games she knows are on Wii U and 3DS. So I goes in to the closet, dust of the GameCube and we away we go. Anyway, we're going through the first few shines and we get to the "Hillside Cave Secret" (you know, the ones with no waterpak ) I remember thinking back then that there should be a game based on just these levels. Then I remembered that was to be the case a few years later. What ever happened to that game. Did it evolve into Mario Galaxy? Did it get scalped?  I wish I could find the thread on here about it but no luck.






and I died 19x on the first level. 12 years ago I 100% this game. The suckle creeps in with age!

WOW! I don't watch a lot of TV and when I do its really on 5-6 channels. Anyway, my aunt's over today and after the kids finish playing Mario Kart they flip on the Tv and not the cable. "the Adventures of Superman" was on some station I've never heard of. So I started looking over other channels OTA and I just keep reining into stuff Ive never seen before. While I'm not so impressed by the content (its a whole lotta nothing on some of these stations) Its 80 free channels. This with coupled with the triforce of video app (Netflix, WWE and Crunchyroll) I can tell Comcast to go climb a pole.




Now, as so as I can figure out how to convert Cell Phone Signals in to Internet, I'll be scott free!

 Learning that Ice Climber's were cut from the roster cause they couldn't get them to work on 3DS but they workwd on 15 year old hardware is kinda cray to me.  I thought at worst they would be on par with each other with the push going to the 3DS.
