I'm glad you had fun with Nights Steefosaurus. I only had the chance to rent Nights, but I enjoyed my time with it.

Great work Phil! It took me around 12 years for my college experience, so I know how exciting it must be to finally have that goal post in sight. I do miss the school environment compared to work, but it's great to have that degree.

Tonight I defeated the final story boss in Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin. I still have plenty of DLC to complete and I'm working on completing the PVP covenant I'm in, so I have plenty of post game content to keep me busy.

Compared to the other games in the series, DS2 gets a lot of hate from Souls fans. It hides the lore from DS1, and instead focuses on doing its own thing. Honestly, while I still have to play 3, this is my favorite game in the Souls series so far. The locations are evocative, and I found myself having a lot of fun exploring this world.

While I understand many of the complaints Souls fans have for the game (soul memory, mob enemies galore, lacking an interconnected world), none of it bothered me. I died plenty, but always found a summon sign when I needed one. Mobs could be taken care of with careful planning. And I didn't miss the interconnected world of 1, though I do miss all the shortcuts.

As a whole, I felt DS2 was harder than 1 both in terms of normal enemies and bosses, though the bosses aren't quite as memorable as DS1. Still, the game provides plenty of help to take those bosses down, so I never felt stuck until I reached my first DLC boss.

While I'd recommend those interested in the Souls experience to start with 1. The difficulty ramps up with 2, so having some experience with 1 will prepare a player for 2.

well here's the original script
http://www.digititles.com/movies/green-lantern-2011/scripts/script-first-draft-june-2008

I haven't read it, but since you like the movie that was made, you can compare with the movie that almost was and see which one you actually preferred.

Thanks, I'll have to check that later. I still find it bizarre that Parallax was chosen as the main villain. While I think Hector Hammond is a goofy looking villain, I have to give the actor credit for at least giving it his all with the role.

Maybe with the mixed reactions WB is getting with their comic films, they might let the comics division have more say into the film universe. One can only dream, right?

And I accept that I'm in the minority about the Green Lantern movie. I think growing up with Kyle Rayner as my GL probably makes me wish for a more Earth focused Lantern movie over a space story. I knew the movie was in trouble when I went to a Walmart, and all the GL figures were alien Lanterns I had never heard of besides mainstays like Killowog.

And regardless of what anyone else say about the film, Carol Ferris calling Hal out and recognizing him instantly is one of my favorite bits in any super hero film. It's about time they tried that with a hero.

When I was laughing at slipknots death, my mom asked why I laughed, I told her he's a useless character, all he does is tie knots.

The next set of movies is going to be Batman and Wonder Woman and Justice League. I'm most excited for the Batman movie. I just wonder what they hell are they going to do with it?

In an Alternate universe Heath Ledger wouldn't have died and the sequel to the Dark Knight would have been the beginning of the DC universe. Or alternatively, they would have made better choices with Green Lantern and that would have kicked off the DC universe.

I mean with Green Lantern if they decided not to CG his suit and given him a cool villain then I bet it would have taken off.

As soon as they introduced Slipknot, I knew he wasn't long for the movie. They needed someone to try and escape to show that Waller meant business, and it wasn't going to be Boomerang. I found it funny as well, though.

I'd still argue that the Green Lantern movie wasn't as bad as many make it out to be. Ryan Reynolds was perfectly fine as Hal Jordan, but just needed better material to work with. I think the movie would've been better keeping it Earth focused, then introduce the Corps at the end. Maybe start off with Dr. Light as the villain. Not a five star villain, but since he can manipulate GL constructs, it could've been a nice face off.

I'm excited to see what they do with Wonder Woman and Batman. I like Affleck's Batman, and Leto's Joker, so it should be a fun film.

On Flash TV news, it looks like they're finally introducing Mirror Master in season 3. I can't wait, as the Rogues are my favorite part of the Flash mythos, and Mirror Master is my favorite Rogue.

I changed mine to TofuFury as that's the name I go by on other Nintendo forums.

If DC doesn't use Brainiac or Metallo for the next movie, an adaptation of What's So Funny about Truth, Justice, & the American Way would be a wise decision for them to make. It's the perfect way to recenter Superman back to where he should be.

Agreed.  And they already have an animated adaptation of that story that can be used as a starting point.

That's a good film. Not my favorite DC animation (Red Hood is my favorite), but I enjoyed it. All they need to do is just make it live action and stick to the script.

But let's talk about the most interesting day, Day 4. Not to sound conceited, but I absolutely should have died that day! There was no reason to keep me around. Yet I was able to turn a bad situation into an incredible advantage. And I think it was because of this argument

Quote
Here's probably the best reason I have for the townies to not vote for me today. If you kill me with a vote and allow the mafia to live, they can use a night kill and bring the total down for tomorrow to 2 mafia and 4 townies. At that point, it'll be hard for the townies to win unless they nail two votes in a row. But one slip up and the mafia ends it. But if I'm still alive, the mafia can't win. They can't claim victory until I am dead. Which makes me a very effective shield.

I made the argument to think of me as a tool rather than a threat and it was effective. Before the day was through, I had turned the vote away from myself and had active negotiations with several players where I had all the leverage. NorthSea may have asked me to kill Nickmitch that day, but not before telling me Insanolord was the detective. And using his role in a clever gambit with Oohboy and Lucario, I learned their roles too.

Best part of that day was Nickmitch's crusade against me. It should have been easy to vote me out. I'm the killer and in his words "killer's gotta be killed." But as the day went along, I steered everyone's mistrust towards him instead. Somehow, the killer wasn't the biggest threat anymore, it was Nickmitch. And by the end of the day, Nickmitch was negotiating with me not to die.

That was a great day and I think it was the reason I was given the win.

I got to give it up though to Lucario. He was never on my radar. He even pretty much told me he was the godfather and it still didn't register. Only after I caught him in a lie did I finally know. Well done man.

Day four was probably my favorite round of the whole game. There was just so much chaos, that it carried through to the end of the game.

And I think you made the right move in putting yourself as a tool for hire. Insano and I knew that if we voted you out, it was going to be very hard to narrow down the rest of the mafia. With you around, you could at least narrow the playing field for the townies, which did happen in the end.

66
I wonder who the villain will be?  I'm guessing either Brainiac or Metallo.  Lobo (but only Ron Perlman) could work and even tie in to the JL film, with Lobo looking to collect a bounty set up by Darkseid.

I think, if they really wanted to do a "soft" reboot and just completely shift the tone and breath life into the film, they should go with Simon Pegg as Manchester Black.  I think with a little hair dye and a badass jacket, he'd be perfect.  Might be a good way for Superman to re-establish a moral highground.  Bu

67
Yeah, I'm not sure what's going on with oohhboy but he's clearly lost track of what's going on in the game. After I posted Day 6 and that he was dead, I still got a message from him this morning to protect TheNorthSea. He's clearly out of the loop and not following things too closely.

I honestly thought he knew Insano was the detective, and who the mafia were. I don't want to put a ton of blame on him, though. I should've been more open with him once we knew who everyone's roles were. There was just a lack of communication, and I should've reached out to him after he made his Insano vote.

68
I'd also like to add that while Insanolord is blaming oohhboy for the townie loss, the oohhboy vote isn't what fully did them in. TheNorthSea changed stevey's vote to Lucario. That led to a 3 - 3 tie which caused the townie demise. However, if TheNorthSea had changed Hypotheliciously, Lucario or oohhboy's vote from Insanolord to Lucario, then it would have been a 3 - 2 vote with Lucario being voted out. Only Hypotheliciously could make a hit so it only one townie would die depending on who he hit. If he still targeted oohhboy, then oohhboy pays for his mistake and you still have two dependable townies. With TheNorthSea alive and Insanolord, they can make a 3 vote majority the next day and vote out Hypotheliciously who cannot make a hit that night. That just leaves the longshot that stevey shows up and makes a snipe hit to win for the Mafia. Otherwise, 12 hours later, it's a townie victory as they vote out stevey.

Why TheNorthSea didn't prevent the tie, I can't figure out. Maybe he can explain that one.

After Oohhboy went against our alliance, I wasn't sure if we could win. If he wouldn't vote with us on this important vote, who was to say he'd stick with us on the next round.

Hypo told me Lucario planned on hitting me after the vote. It made sense, I had the most power in the game, and changed the outcome for the two previous rounds. He suggested that Oohhboy use his power to save me, so I decided to roll the dice and see the outcome. Turns out that was the wrong move, and Oohhboy was the true target.

If Lucario did place the hit on me, Oohhboy saved me, and we went into the next round with all players in tact, I'd know he wouldn't vote against us in the next round and finish what was started. Maybe that was bad strategy on my part, but when you have an unpredictable player in the mix, it makes it hard to strategize the following rounds. For all I knew, Oohhboy could've voted against us in the following round, making it all the more tougher.

If someone was going to win, I wanted it to be an active player who was making moves. I didn't want a player who hadn't shown up the entire game to end up with a victory.

Hope that makes some sense. I know now it was a bit flawed, but that was my thinking at that point.

Note: Just saw that Oohhboy didn't know Insano was the detective. Sorry, I assumed you were told Insano's role. I'll take some of the blame of that.

So I watched Suicide Squad today. Now, keep in mind that I enjoyed BvS despite it's gaping flaws, but I really liked the movie. I've just accepted that the DC movieverse is completely different from how I'd prefer it to be, with the CWverse being more in line of what I want.

I enjoyed the characters, from Deadshot and Harley, to even Diablo (who I think is an unsung star of this film). Yeah, the story might not be the greatest in terms of a threat. Yes, a new city is in danger, and there's an ominous thing in the sky going on. Yet I enjoyed seeing these characters get into this crazy situation and try to work together and stop it.

I think people will either love or hate Leto's Joker. I thought he was fine. What works is that they sold the relationship between him and Harley. I can't imagine the Ledger Joker having Harley around, but for Leto's it made sense.

NWR Mafia Games / Re: Mafia LXVIII: Animal Kingdom. Day 8. The End.

The townies could have won. Because of the ability of TheNorthSea, the game wouldn't have ended in a Mafia Victory if it had been him and stevey because TheNorthSea could get a majority vote against stevey via his power thereby voting out the last Mafia member and preventing stevey from making a hit. He chose not to.

I just want to put this out there that I did figure this out early this morning. I hope people aren't too upset about it, but I chose not to give myself the win because I felt that Hypotheliciously deserved the win over me just crowning myself the winner. I know that it might seem out of nowhere, especially because I came back to win and redeem the earlier games that I was in. Once the oohhboy vote switch happened, and I knew that Insano probably wouldn't make it to the end with me, I decided to give Hypo the respect win. If Insano couldn't be part of the surviving winners, I didn't think I earned the title. If it wasn't for Insano's investigations, I never would've targeted Lucario in time to earn the win anyway.

From the beginning, I tried to play my role using stealth. I placed a vote on me first round to help put me in the clear from any suspicion that I was Babe. Since Stevey hadn't shown up, I tended to take his vote when at all possible as not to earn the ire from other players.

That changed when Spak was voted out. I thought for certain Insano was mafia. All the signs pointed to it in my mind, and I even had my vote ready to go towards him and take him out that round. Hypo and I had been part of an alliance since after the first round, and when he switched his vote for Spak (who I also suspected), I reversed gears and voted Spak last minute. I figured I outed myself as Babe with that role, but I thought Lucario was a townie (oh how wrong I was), and didn't want a vote slip by that I didn't have control over. That was probably my biggest mistake, yet neither Hypo or I knew it at the time, but it ended up being the right move.

After Mop_it_up was killed between rounds, we were chatting about the game in the nintemple chat. We weren't talking strategy or anything, but we were lamenting that the game seemed a bit subdued with little action going on (round 3 had been a bit dull, with no one throwing accusations out against anyone). So I took it upon myself to add some excitement to the game and lay out everything I had on Insano to take out my perceived mafia threat.

About an hour later, Insano PM's me and basically said "Hey dummy, I'm the detective. You're babe the pig. Take out the real threat, Hypo, as he's the killer." I believed him instantly, because I always kept it in the back of my mind that a detective would use his strategies. Well, that threw a wrench in all my plans. My huge post incriminated our detective, and people were starting to vote for him. Then, to complicate matters, I had told Hypo that I was babe in the previous round, because he and I were actively trying to figure out who was in the mafia and I thought I could trust him.

Now I had to 1) save Insano from the damage I had done. 2) Not tip off Hypo that I knew he was the killer and meet my demise. 3) Figure out who the heck were the mafia members, after all, it couldn't be Stevey, right???

So I removed my vote without telling Hypo why, and start plotting how I could save Insano. Little did I know that the wheels were in motion to get this started, as Hypo outed himself as the killer and made himself a mercenary.

I was planning on going with Insano in trying to get rid of Hypo, but given how few players were left, we knew we had to be right about every target we made once Hypo was out. Instead of following through with our plans, we formed a new alliance with Hypo, revealed Insano's role, and decided to work together to take out the remaining mafia members.

While I had little to suspect with lolmonade, if I had to pick between saving a townie or the detective, I needed to save Insano. With lolmonade and nickmitch gone, our alliance figured out who was the doctor, and who remained in the mafia.

Sadly, it all kind of fell apart after that. It's a shame. I think Insano played an incredible game, and definitely deserved to win over me. Despite my thorough investigations and strategies, I kept picking the wrong people out as mafia. I have to hand it to Lucario, he played a great, low key game, especially after losing all of his teammates in the first round. He could've won, but it just didn't work out for him in the end.
As for Stevey, I understand why Khush placed him in the game. Honestly, having an inactive player the entire game threw a fun wrinkle into the game. This was the other reason I chose not to vote Hypo out in the last round. What if I had, and Stevey decided to sign on and claim the victory by killing me between rounds. It was a long shot, but given my luck, it would've happened.

So I understand if some of the players are annoyed I didn't go for the winning vote. But I thought Hypo played a very entertaining game and always found ways to turn disadvantages around in his favor. As for feedback, I appreciated the longer days for the times I couldn't get on my computer. I think they make sense when you have a ton of players, but maybe once you reach around round 5 it's okay to make them 24 hour rounds. And I kind of missed seeing the dead thread. I'd always read it when I was playing the old mafia games, even if I was still in the game.

Oh, there's a way to win. I know what I would need to do to win. It would take a little luck, and another 12 hour wait, but I'm pretty sure that it would end with a victory for me.

But Hypotheliciously played one heck of a game. I could snatch that from him, but honestly he played the best game out of everyone.

I choose to vote out Stevey.

72
Well, this could've gone better. The game will probably wrap up before the weekend is over.

Vote Lucario.

Just a suggestion, but you could always go with dinosaurs based on their avatars/screen name flairs.

I'm excited about the possibility. I think they've fleshed the world and story to give themselves enough to work with for a few seasons. I love the cast, and I'd like to see how they progress.

Plus I can't wait to see these kids get an NES eventually.

75
Sounds easy enough. Thanks for taking the time to lay out the rules for me. I'll join in.
