You open the door to trick-and-treaters and you see someone dressed in the video game costume of your nightmares. What is it?

Video games are a rich source of material for costumes—just look at any enthusiast gaming, anime, or comics convention for proof. But just as some characters elicit our love and adoration, so too do many stir up fear, anxiety, or utter and complete discombobulation.

So we asked the staff to dig into their own disturbed nightmares and imagine opening their doors on Halloween to a trick-or-treater in the one gaming costume they hoped never, ever, to see in real life.

Carmine Red

Mr. Resetti. Bursting from the ground angry. Guaranteed heart-attack.

Josh Max

The monsters from Amnesia: The Dark Decent.

Neal Ronaghan

Solange, the main character from Code of Princess.

Andy Goergen

Tingle.

Ariel  Ruff

Akiba from Metal Gear Solid, and his explosive diarrhea.

Nate  Andrews

A Denpa Man with my own face.

Justin Berube

Giygas from Earthbound.

J.P. Corbran

A realistic Birdo.

Tyler Ohlew

Iwazaru from Killer 7. Please don't bring out the gimp.

Zach Miller

Bubblehead Nurse from Silent Hill.

Andrew Brown

Dead Hand from Ocarina of Time, of course.

Zack Kaplan

The President from Metal Gear Solid 2, I am a guy there is no need to check.

Danny Bivens

A gritty, realistic version of Toad.

James Jones

Toadette.

Daan Koopman

Floormasters from the Zelda series. I am scared of them!

The "Captain Lou Albano" version of Mario.

Considering he is dead, I wouldnt want to see that Mario at my doorstep either....but any Mario that's living is welcome.

A Death Bubble from the Zelda series.

But don't they turn into fairies with a little magic powder applied?

Kind of off topic but I always thought dressing up as Skull Kid from Majora's Mask would be kind of awesome.

As for costumes I wouldn't want to see? I have to agree with Goergen, Tingle would scare the s*** out of me.

Not sure I was clear enough.
I meant that any li'l tyke dressed up as Lou Albano's Mario (from the TV show) would scare the crap out of me. Not that I would expect Lou Albano (or Zombie Lou Albano) to show up at my door dressed as Mario, awesome as that would be.

I'd have to see that short Napoleon-like dude from Resident Evil 4. You'd think it was a kid, then he'd probably try and sick a horde of zombies on you.

I hate to be that guy but it's spelt sic. Unless you meant that he would puke a horde of zombies at you...which now that I think about it would be absolutely horrifying. You know what? Forget what I said, keep it as 'sick'.

:P:

Anyone with a costume based on the Redeads from the Legend of Zelda or (as one person in the article said) Dead Hand would be extremely unwelcome in my opinion.  I have enough bad memories of seeing those monsters in the actual games.
