I also tested the hardware to see what was compatible with what. Of course, first thing to test was the territorial lock out of game software, which unfortunately worked very well.

Silly American. You are foolish to think your inferior US software would work on the superior Japanese hardware!
I then checked to see if I could use the Japanese memory card on the US system. I could use it…that is if I formatted the card. The US cube must have detected Japanese save game data and prompted me to format the card.
The only things that would work in both systems were the video cable and the controllers. That’s it. Of course, that is until someone figures out how to modify the system. I'll be doing further tests this weekend, and looking into how to modify the system a lot more.
