The reason I even picked this game up is because I remember our own James Jones lambasting the game's original screenshot (yes, just one shot was released pre-release). I never remembered hearing much about the game post-release, and I find it hard to believe that an entry in the Prince of Persia series, even on DS, can be that awful. Also, there's a whole lot of Prince of Persia media hitting next month with the release of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands and the major motion picture based off of The Sands of Time, so I guess now is as good a time as ever to look into the Prince's last major Nintendo release.

From looking at this box art, I'm a little bewildered. The Prince, I don't know which one (Sands of Time? 2008 version?), is "chibi'd" out. There's some other dude there, which is weird, because doesn't the Prince usually spend his time sweet-talking ladies? Unless this guy wearing the cloak is the enemy? I don't know. I think I get where James is coming from with his rampant hatred after seeing a screenshot. This box art doesn't look too promising either.

It looks like The Fallen King makes use of the stylus to perform moves, and that cloaked fellow on the cover is the Prince's "mysterious new ally" named the Magus. Apparently you switch between the two characters and combine the Prince's acrobatics with the Magus' magic.

There's apparently an evil corruption taking over the land, and, well, I stopped reading after that. I played Twilight Princess, Super Paper Mario, Metroid Prime 3, and tons of other games with some sort of mysterious abstract "evil" that consumes the land, usually by oozing around the place.

Man, this art style does not look good…

Note: There is total egg on my face for not knowing anything about this game outside of that screenshot. I wrote the announcement news article, but in my defense, that was two years ago.
