Hello! We are back from our Thanksgiving break and have a great, super-packed show for you this week.

Kicking things off, Scott, Mike, and Zach discuss their two-week impressions of Smash Bros. for Wii U. The guys break down their favorite new characters and modes, rave over the silky smooth online play, and compare the newest entry to its mostly reviled predecessor.

After that, Alex, Bryan and special guest Joe Merrick of Serebii.net go in-depth with Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. These Pokémaniacs discuss how the re-imagined games compare to the originals, analyze how modern elements are implemented, and talk about what generation deserves the next revisit. There are some light spoilers in this segment; you've been warned!

Talkback

I got news, guys. Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones is usually lambasted by the fandom as one of the weakest titles in the entire franchise. In addition to the art just not being up to snuff in comparison to other games, there are many game-breaking bugs, lots of inbalance , and the new units introduced in the game are all just... I dunno. Lame?

Fire Emblem (Subtitled Blazing Sword in Japan), just came out for the Wii U virtual console and is a MUCH better game. sure, it's a little bit on the easy side for a puritanical Fire Emblem experience, but it cuts the bullshit and has the sorts of things the franchise is generally played for, as well as multiple campaigns. Awakening did really well worldwide and I would still probably consider it in my top 3 3DS games?

Moreover, I think that Fire Emblem as a franchise is very much linked to Smash Bros. in a very, VERY big way. Not only did Roy appear in Melee before he appeared in his own game on the GBA, but the decision to start releasing the series after 6 titles outside of japan was by and large due to interest generated by melee. That's why I feel Fire Emblem's representation is appropriate, even if it isn't what you guys would necessarily consider a top billed Nintendo Franchise.

People are winning tournaments with Rosalina and Luma because Rosalina is actually pretty darned good all on her own due to all the disjointed hitboxes on things like her Fair, Side tilt, up tilt, and Uair and Dair. Sure, she's a little floaty and light for how amazonian and tall she is, but she's pretty great, and get insane when she has a Luma. It's not like with the ice climbers where you're out of control of your second climber if you get divided or it gimps your jump when you don't have a second one to belay with. I've been training with Rosalina and Luma, and even without a luma, I still get the best of my friends offensively.

Olimar is actually the only character with a major difference between the Wii U and 3DS version... see, in the 3DS version, the Pikmin are locked at 30 FPS movement rather than 60, and that made all of his attacks garbage-y and slow. on the Wii U, it's MUCH better, but not enough to really make him a stronger member of the cast.

Shulk actually got a buff int eh 1.4 patch where his moves have less lag or have more bite to 'em...!

Hey Bryan its cool to hear a new voices at NWR.  I have a few suggestions for your podcast/video appearances.  Maybe its just me but you seem very timid when you speak.  There's no reason to be.  You're just talking to nerds on the internet.  Just relax.  We're all excited to here what you have to say.  You seem like your stressing and trying figure out what to say and are afraid of saying the wrong thing.  I think you'll find most people don't mind a more free flow conversation with mistakes and missteps. I think a lot of podcast fans prefer that. If you stress too much when you speak your cadence seems off.  Just be calm and confident  :) (If I totally misinterpreted this and that's just kinda how you talk don't be offended.)

I really loved the Smash talk.  Zach.  I never liked Fire Emblem and even I love Awakening.  It's worth giving a try on baby mode.
