Smash Bros. Online: An Odyssey3DSWiiWiiU

One man's journey into that abyss that is Brawl Online.

Late last week, after watching the Super Smash Bros E3 trailer for the fourth or fifth time, I got the itch. So I dug out my Smash Bros. Brawl disc, and put it, for the first time, into my Wii U. I hadn't played Smash Bros. since being forced to abandon GameCube controls by virtue of transferring my save to the Wii U. Thankfully, the Classic Controller Pro is a capable substitute. I played a few matches against the computer to warm up. Afterwards, for a laugh, I hopped online and tried to play a random match.

The Quest for the Perfect 3DS XL Case3DS

by James Dawson - 4:50 P.M.

How I found the Holy Grail of 3DS XL cases.

If you’re like me, you like to keep your electronics in the best condition possible. Of course, this typically means buying some sort of case to protect them. Usually, it isn’t hard to find cases for say, an iPhone or even the original 3DS, but finding anything that fits the 3DS XL without doubling its size has been difficult, even nearly a year after its release.

Before I upgraded to the 3DS XL, I went through several 3DS cases that varied in quality. For a while, I was very satisfied with a Zelda-themed case manufactured by PDP. The case had a soft lining that absorbed shocks and kept it from scratching the system. Other than the fact that the artwork rubbed off over time, the case seemed to do exactly what I wanted it to. It protected my 3DS without being too bulky.

Something must be done, we cannot put up with these injustices a moment longer.

As a veteran Animal Crossing player, I was ecstatic to pick up New Leaf. I can say this is definitely the best Animal Crossing yet, and I've spent countless hours mining the depths of its content. At the same time, I've also contemplated the game’s economy, and I've come to some shocking conclusions. What I'm about to say may disgust some of you, even cause some of you to recoil in horror at the veritable truth of these claims. But soldier on, dear villagers, because the truth must be told.

Harvest Moon Creator Loves The Legend of Zelda3DSWiiU

While talking about Yasuhiro Wada's new project, Hometown Story, we got sidetracked a bit.

When we met with Toybox President Yasuhiro Wada to discuss his latest game, the forthcoming 3DS game Hometown Story (which looks great; read our impressions soon), our conversation took a Nintendo turn.

When discussing influences on Hometown Story, it segued into how the Disk System version of The Legend of Zelda was a major influence on Harvest Moon back in the '90s. Wada said that if he could work on one Nintendo franchise, it would be the Zelda series. Although he quickly corrected himself. "It would be Zelda, maybe," he said. "But I think I'd rather just enjoy that as a player."

What upcoming first party software are you looking forward to?

In spite of the mixed reception online to the E3 Direct yesterday, Nintendo does have a rather full first-party release schedule for the second half of 2013 and early portions of 2014. You would be forgiven for losing track of precisely what is actually coming out and when - thankfully, in a recent briefing to industry analysts, Nintendo provided two graphics outlining their upcoming releases for 3DS and Wii U. Take a look and digest it all for a moment.
