Louie returns to talk about a potential shooter from the minds behind Splinter Cell!
MEOW! Ahoy there, PGCers, it's me, Louie the Cat! I know it's been a while
since I've scampered around these parts, but I couldn't resist coming by for
another session of rumor-scouting. Don't worry about me being rusty, though,
I've been training hard ever since last year, honing my skills to perfection
for the next hot rumor! This time, I sent out PGC's Elite Super-Ninja Group
(aka Karl walking around in a black costume saying stuff like "Hyaaaaaa!"
and "There is no spoon!") and apparently there's buzz around the interweb
that Ubisoft's developing a Revolution-ary First Person Shooter. Is it t3h
truths? Watch me shed (get it?! shed? I'm a cat!) some light on the subject.
The source of the rumor appears to be href=http://www.meristation.com/v3/des_noticia.php?id=cw437615e74a4a7&pic=GEN>Meristation
who claims that Ubisoft has already confirmed this and that the project has
been handed down to Ubisoft Montreal, the team behind the much-beloved
Splinter Cell series and the cult-hit Beyond Good & Evil. Unfortunately,
there's no solid information here, other than that the first audio/video
presentation of the game will be available at E3 2006.
So what does your old pal Louie think? "Very possible," says this old wise
cat. Since Ubisoft had already confirmed Revolution support href=http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=60540>back in August
home console are a bit unclear at the moment, it'd be a good guess to say
that Ubisoft would be lending an exclusive. And since they're so experienced
with First Person Shooters (Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, etc), this isn't hard
to believe at all.
Unfortunately, Ubisoft, the actual company has yet to make an
official statement. Are they under an NDA where they're not allowed to talk
about this supposed leak? Or is it so false that they don't feel the need to
comment? In any case, don't expect Nintendo to say much - they're as
tight-lipped as ever when it comes to Revolution game info. In fact, Jim
Merrick's href=http://www.planetgamecube.com/news.cfm?action=item&id=6617>comment
about there not being any new game info until 2006 almost assures that there
won't be an affirmation or a denial for a while. So is this supposed Ubisoft
game legit or not? Time will tell, but I'd bet three cups of Meow Mix that
there's some truth to this rumor.
Until next time,
Louie the Cat
