Could these be the games launching alongside the Wii U later this year?

Amazon's listing for Nintendo's upcoming console, the Wii U, lists a ton of previously known specs as well as a list of launch games for the system.

The full list includes:

  • New Super Mario Bros. Mii
  • Darksiders II
  • DiRT
  • Aliens Colonial Marines
  • Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Online
  • Metro Last Light
  • Tekken
  • Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge (working title)
  • And Nintendo Mii-based software yet to be confirmed

Amazon's listing did note that these games were "just a few of those players can expect."

Whether this list of games is correct is yet to be known, but as E3 approaches we are bound to find out what games will be making the cut for Wii U's launch.

Edit: Metro: Last Light was previously delayed until 2013. This information makes the rumored list appear to be more false than true.

I'd love to play New Super Mario bros. at launch, but one thing...How come there's no Pikimin 3 on this list?

Not that I'dhave the time to sit down and play a home console, what with college coming up....Life sucks.  :(

Chocobo_RiderMay 16, 2012

Honestly, the only game on that list I could see myself excitedly purchasing is NSMBMii .... ... ... assuming they change the name of course =P

PS - have they changed the name of the Wii U yet?  ;D

Pixelated PixiesMay 16, 2012

I'm not super interested in those games I have to say. I think the presence of Pikmin 3 at launch was always going to be a crucial component of whether or not I purchased a Wii U in 2012 or 2013. Without Captain Olimar showing up this year, I think I'll take a wait and see approach.

EnnerMay 16, 2012

Batman: Arkham City isn't going to make launch, at least according to Amazon? Anyway, seems to be an okay list. I really hope Metro: Last Light makes it out since THQ has been taking a beating.

C-OlimarMay 16, 2012

I read this on Amazon UK's Wii U page MONTHS ago. J.S.

KITT 10KMay 16, 2012

The New Super Mario Bros. Wii game is the only thing that peeks my interest so far.

KlonoahedgehogMay 16, 2012

NSMBMii is probably the only game i'm getting on this list.

AVMay 16, 2012

I'm hoping the Mii centric games are just built-into the system. No disk, just ready to play

No F-Zero......

Can something so expected still be so disappointing?

TJ SpykeMay 16, 2012

Sigh, not a list of launch games since Metro: Last Light is already confirmed as a 2013 release. That was the first sign to me that the Blockbuster list was BS. Often the Amazon listings are fan-submitted.

Nice job posting someones amazon affiliate link.  You see that reference number at the end?  ref=nosim/grubbergamer-20

That means grubbergamer will receive a commission if you purchase a WiiU.  Of course, you can't purchase a WiiU yet, but if you continue to shop through Amazon after clicking that affiliate link using the same web browser session and purchase something anywhere on Amazon, grubber gets 3-5% commission.

I recommend going to Amazon.com and searching for WiiU and not use a direct link OR just take off the reference information from the URL.

Maybe the fact that COD Black Ops 2 isn't on that list of launch titles is a clue that the Wii U will actually come out sometime before November? Because if the Wii U did launch in November then one would expect that Black Ops 2 would for sure be one of the launch titles for it.

Black Ops 2 is a Treyarch made COD and they always bring their games to Nintendo hardware so its hard to think that it won't be coming to the Wii U. So if its not a launch title then it must be coming out sometime after the Wii U launches. We know the game is coming out in November, so... do the math.

ETA: another possibility is this isn't a complete list of the launch titles. But I am one of those who desperately hopes for a summer launch of the Wii U, so I'll cling to any clue or fragment of a clue I can which helps support that case. November is just too far away... :(

GOing to need a better lineup than that to get me to buy a Wii U. And I love Nintendo.

Ugh, they're not even trying.

AdrockMay 17, 2012

I'd probably hold off on a Wii U if that was the launch lineup. I would have been sold if RE6 was a launch title and I can already get it on PS3. E3 should be a pretty good indication of what to expect at launch so I'll reevaluate it again next month.

CericMay 17, 2012

That really isn't that great of a launch line-up.  Nintendo would need to do better.  We'll see at E3 if they do better.

LittleIrvesMay 17, 2012

@Tora You take that back this instant. For the elder statesmen in the room, I bet the prospect of starting college in the fall would be most enticing, and not at all sucky.

Exactly.

How many houses do I have to bet that at least one interesting launch title is announced in, oh, about 3 weeks?  ;D

50.

But for seriously, didn't expect much more to be listed.  At least they didn't make such an obvious attempt to guess as Blockbuster's list.
