A GameFly listing shows off both a release date and name for the 3DS title.

Mario Tennis Open could be heading to Nintendo 3DS on May 20, according to a GameFly listing.

The Camelot-developed Mario Tennis sequel for the 3DS has previously been given a tentative 2012 release date. According to a new GameFly listing, the game is now titled Mario Tennis Open. The page also displays a May 20 release date.

Nintendo has not at this moment confirmed any of this information, though we are waiting for a response from them.

"Mario Tennis Open". I like that. It's simple and at the same time more creative as blunt as Mario 3D Land or Mario Kart Seven.
Plus, it has that nice professional ring to it.

nickmitchFebruary 13, 2012

I dunno. Mario Tennis Invitational sounds a little more professional.

xcwarriorFebruary 13, 2012

You're both wrong. Mario Tennis Professional sounds more professional.

They can call it Mario Tennis Poop and I'll still be in line.

I'll be buying it either way, but I really hope this game has the RPG story mode the previous handheld versions of the series had.

Camelot hasn't disappointed in a handheld Mario tennis yet. I expect it to be a must have for me.

I disagree on the first point; the GBA game was a massive disappointment to me. The lack of a way to play the story mode without the awful power shots killed it for me. The GBC game is probably my favorite handheld game after Super Mario 3D Land, though, and the very little footage we have of this game didn't show power shots, so I have hope.

But, dude! We gave it a 10 out of 10! It was a significant release! How can you hate on it?

I want to be excited for this but the GCN version of this was so bland. I really hope they stick to the formula that they for the GBC game. Speaking of the GBC game I really hope that gets released on the 3DS VC.

I want to play as the Mushroom Kingdom denizens the whole time, not the kids.

StrawHousePigFebruary 14, 2012

*spleh* Whatever. I liked it.
