We finally made it, after seven long years Radio Free Nintendo finally turns the page on episode 350, and while it ended up being a little more eventful than we would have liked we first had the little business we call New Business to take care of.

James kicks things off with his purchase of a PS3, his distaste of the hardware, and his unsettling enjoyment of Way of the Samurai 4. Jon subjected himself to the trials, tribulations, and asshole birds, of Ninja Gaiden II on the 3DS Virtual Console. Coincidentally Gui also has been experiencing Ninja Gaiden II, although on the Wii. Gui then takes us into the world of Hong Kong gangs and undercover policing with Sleeping Dogs. Jonny wraps it up with a long overdue update on Fire Emblem: Awakening before blasting us off with the 360 reboot of the Genesis/SNES franchise Rocket Knight Adventure and providing us a look at, in his words, the only good iOS game: The Room.

After a break we kick off the RFN Celebration with a slightly somber note. Jonny was to host a special reunion of RFN alumni, but he was unfortunately unable to join us due to the flooding in Colorado reaching his home (you will find a list of reputable aid organizations here. While our thoughts are with him and all those affected, the show must go on. In his stead Gui ably hosts guests Evan Burchfield and Greg Leahy along with James in a strange reunion of RFN Editors, leading to a comparison of editing war stories.

In the final segment, the core four finish the show with a collection of listener mail from you, our fans, congratulating us on the milestone episode. We even put our long-recognized powers of prediction to work, speculating where we'll be in seven years.

It's amazing we've made it to Episode 350, but we wouldn't have done it without our loyal listeners. So to all of you, thank you.

Just a programming note: we will resume our retroactive of Pandora's Tower in Episode 352 so it isn't to late to start playing and contributing to the talkback thread in our forums.

I don't know how to feel about that...

Still ones of the best podcasts being produced. You guys are awesome!

Congrats gentlemen!

Pixelated PixiesSeptember 16, 2013

P.S. we still really need to resolve this not being able to modify our posts thing. It's frustrating.

*Still one of the best...

I SEE YOU HAVE SELECTED DEMOLITION MAN

Okay, in all seriousness...

First of all, I actually do own a copy of Demolition Man and if I ever get to meet you guys, you are all signing that disc.

Secondly, this was quite the amazing show and all the extra effort you folks put in is amazing. It also has one of those awesome Lindemann moments where James has to yell into the microphone in desperation to cover it up. those are probably my favorites.

Lastly, I want to wish Dr. Metts the best of luck in the coming days. While I have no monetary support to offer at this time, I will be more than glad to make up for it by showing my support during this year's telethon if you folk are planning on doing one of those again.

here's to listening to you guys in 2020... where I also have AVGN's review of Raid 2020 to look forward to!

Stupendous epic episode, all. Bravo!

Congratulations on making it all the way to 350! I've been listening since about episode 87, and have been there for the (amazing) train wreck that was 103, man beams, many a retroactive, let's tap, and many many more things. Here's to many more episodes to come.

Great episode! It was good to hear from Greg and Evan again.

The discussion about how you guys probably won't still be recording in 2020 was a little sad, but, thats how life goes. And who knows, maybe the current crew will still be going strong that far in the future! Either way, I am confident the show will still be on-going, even if the cast changes drastically again.

I've been listening to the podcast since it started, and have enjoyed it all (including 103). The show was also a driving factor in making me submit an application to join the staff.

Can't wait for more.

Congratulations to RFN for reaching 350 episodes!

James needs to get in on Valkyria Chronicles.  That should be the first choice for any RPG fan with a PS3.

The part about Guillaume's sex life was pretty funny...

Yeah, and that Nintendo prototype vault that Cuthbert mentioned... What wonders are hidden there?

Only Nintendo's top men probably have access to this storage:

First off, G, you were hilarious. Some of the best humour in the episodes since you joined occur when you are joking in your distinctive flat tone and the other guys have no idea until it hits them and everyone has to laugh (myself included). Very subtle sense of comedy, and cheers for doing the majority of the grunt work that brings us listeners a new RFN week after week. I think the show is rather consistently well-produced and I place you guys up there with other fave podcasts of mine like BS Report and Freakonomics.

Will the show last til 2020?
----------------------------------
It probably depends on Nintendo the company itself. The Nintendo business model that has served so well for three decades is probably nearing the end of its run. I agree with Jonny that a convergence console/handheld can still offer enough value to keep it going another generation but I don't see how Nintendo consoles as we have known them can continue to serve the market at large when buying habits (something G alluded to in this episode) look to be transitioning in a different direction towards cheap-entry or service-based.

Financially today, the company is healthy, robust even, but the same could be said of other prominent companies just three years ago. How many were willing to bet Rim would be dashed on the rocks or Nokia as everyone has known it would cease to exist? Not that there is no way out...Nintendo is an entertainment company above all else and has that home-run ability to capture imaginations and forge new markets. People will pay for compelling new experiences so, through the continuing adventures of RFN, I look forward to tracking the company's efforts.
-----------------------------------
tldr; if Nintendo can forge the way ahead to remain relevant in a rapidly transforming market I am confident RFN will be there to keep callin the plays.

Lastly, on favorite episodes, I have enjoyed many (I really do miss Greg's level-headed classy British voice of reason but have never listened to the original cast with Evan). One of the greatest compliments I can pay you guys is that there are some epidodes that I find myself wanting to listen to over and over. The show is such that it is fun to go back and listen to old episodes and banter even if they are "behind the times" of the industry. One such fave is episode 84: Intervention. Buzzed Jonny (oh man that intro) waxing poetic on Magic the Gathering and the crew's reactions get me to chuckle Every-time. "I find myself wanting to play it in the middle of the night..." :D

Sometimes I am an "Intellgent" A-hole, Evan, sometimes I am...
