Now you can jump directly from our most professional moment (the panel) to the least -- the infamous, hilarious, totally embarrassing Drunkcast.

Here it is, the Drunkcast in all its raunchy glory. Several NWR staff members gathered in a hotel room, turned on a recorder, and let the alcohol flow. The results did not disappoint. Despite the obvious chaos in this episode, there is still plenty of substantive content on the second day of PAX East. You even get a round of New Business from everyone present! Listen as the jokes get dirtier and the laughs get louder over the course of this nearly two-hour podcast.

Also, be sure to check the subscription feed for a bonus episode later in the week, an hour of Jonny, Mike, Karl, and Lindy playing Magic: The Gathering. It's a little inside, for long-suffering fans of the show, so there won't be a stand-alone podcast article. If you've been listening to RFN for the past couple of years, it should be quite entertaining.

Cheers, you guys have been awesome about getting things done really quickly. I can't believe how much content you've put up already and yet I'm still waiting on the Retronauts guys when all they have is a single episode to put out, not to mention the fact that they are actually paid employees rather than enthusiasts. Very much looking forward to listening to both this and the panel.

Awesome.  Got something to listen to tomorrow.

Listened to this again tonight, mainly because I wanted to see how we decayed into drunkenness.

Favorite parts: When we all quote Star Fox. When I say "I'm soarry" to Lindy. When Mike lights a match. The JLU tangent.

Holy s&?!!  Trying to work while listening to this is impossible. Am I really listening to 3 different conversations at the same time?  I love it.

OMG, the Starfox quotes still have me rolling with laughter, I can't listen to this while at work.  All I can picture is those ridiculous animal avatars.

As I expected, FF XIII came up.  And as I expected, no one got to Chapter 3 and unlocked the game's combat and character building systems.  *sigh*  C'mon, the opening's not that bad.  I breezed through it in something like 2 hours, so I don't know where someone got "6 hours" from.

NWR_KarlKarl Castaneda, Contributing EditorMarch 31, 2010

Well, I did say that I've heard the game gets better after Chapter 3, and that at this point, my opinion isn't cemented. As for the six hour comment, it took me two hours to get to a save point in Chapter 2's scenery, so that was just an extrapolation.

That reminds me, how's that Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn review coming along?  ;)

I'll make an effort to finish it before the next live show!

EDIT: Also, there's a great drinking game here. Take a shot every time James tells us to be quiet or is crabby in general.

Pro-Tip: You'll die of alcohol poisoning.

Hiyooooo.

God forbid I believe five people rambling as loud as they can makes for a bad podcast, also an eviction.

I stayed in my room for another night. No one seemed to care. :P

It did smell nice, though.

I don't know about you, but I had a ball, and I was never worried that Mike Sklens was going to burn the place to the ground.

I'm pretty sure anytime a drunk lights a match, in bed, because "it smells nice" you're at risk for a fire.

NWR_KarlKarl Castaneda, Contributing EditorMarch 31, 2010

Yeah, I'll be honest - Sklens lighting a match with so much booze around was kind of nuts.

But that's just how we roll, JJ. You gotta join the party train.

For real, next time we're at PAX, I want to see you clutching your liver in agony. I will personally bankroll your tab to make this happen.

This episode should have been named, "Radio Free Nintendo - Peer Pressure Edition."  But I would have done the same thing to James, as you know he would have said some epic lines with the filter turned off.  Maybe even one to top Lindy's "Maaaaaaan...F$*K Mario Galaxy 2!!".  Classic

This episode is giving me a headache :/ I've said it before: Obi bolds too much.

I was laughing my ass off when you guys were talking about Dead or Alive Paradise.

Mainly because I bought it last night! AHAHAHAHAHAHA! There IS volleyball, and pool-hopping, and gambling, and...taking pictures of half-naked ladies.

I was kind of curious as to when James, Lauren, Jared, and I came into the Magic game. I believe one of us asked how long they had been there and we were told 5-10 minutes.

We enter the podcast at about the 25 minute mark.

ShyGuyApril 02, 2010

I feel sorry for James Jones, the last hour of this podcast was painful.

Whatever! I feel sorry for everyone else--James was being such a killjoy! :-D

Podcast was awesome. Sounded like a great time.

D_AverageApril 02, 2010

Forgot to ask. What song is at the begining?  It's pretty groovy in a hillbilly sort of way.

The MagicCast was EPIC. I loved every second of it.

The MagicCast made me get out my old magic cards and go find somebody to play with! It was awesome to play again

I'm not finished listening to the MTGcast, but it's more entertaining than I had feared. Wonder if it makes any sense if you've never played before.

OK, I can understand "This Magic Moment" in the opening, but not running "Let's Tap" at some point in the MagicCast is just criminal.

The game took a while to get going since Jonny had to explain everything to Karl and I.

I've never played. Still found it entertaining.  Made me curious, but despite everyone saying it was not that difficult to learn it seemed very confusing.

When you listen to all three of the other podcasts, though, the MTGcast is a must listen as a side-quest to the main adventure that fills in some character detail...

I never played Magic, but I played BattleTech a little bit in 8th or 9th grade. (Magic was too trendy; what can I say?) The basics sound pretty much the same.

I was deep into Pokemon cards in high school (wassup, Karl?!) and even won two badges in a local league before Yu-Gi-Oh took over.

After realizing that Pokemon cards take up a lot of space, I threw them all out except for the foil cards and one of each other card, then put 'em all in a binder. I look through it from time to time and reminice, then wince when I consider how much money I blew on Pokemon cards.

(and still do--I look through the random cards in comic shops to this day, looking for the few foils I still desire*)

*Like Shining Celebi, who is not worth $25, Bosco's.

Glad you guys had fun recording the podcast because the finished product was pretty much a train wreck.  ;D

Hey, I didn't know James had two forum accounts!

PaleMike Gamin, Contributing EditorApril 09, 2010

The Magic-cast is making me really want to try MTG. There's a Live Arcade game for it isn't there?

Yeah, I think there are two -- the first is some kind of action game, but the more recent one is actually based on the cards. I've heard it's a very good adaptation despite losing some of the collecting aspects (since new card sets are not released for it). My guess is that it's a good, cheap way to sample the game's strategies, and if you are intrigued, you can take the plunge into physical cards or Magic Online, which has all the real cards (at least up to five years ago).

nintendo1945May 04, 2010

I really  need to know. What is the song used to que in and close out the drunkcast? I love it but I don't know what it is.

I do believe my favorite part of the while show is when Karl had a freudian slip and said sexmo instead of techmo. I lost it.  How did James survive this beautiful mess?

NWR_KarlKarl Castaneda, Contributing EditorMay 05, 2010

Can You Get to That by Funkadelic

TJ SpykeMay 05, 2010

I just listened to this the other day. I strongly disagree with the claim that Magic: The Gathering is less complicated than Yu-Gi-Oh!. I admit that I haven't play YGO in about 3 years, but at that point in time YGO was extremely easy to get into, MTG pretty much requires someone to teach you even the basics.
