We throw out the rules and say whatever we want about Cho Aniki, Caligula, and other deranged topics.

I need you like a hole in the head.

When a special guest canceled at the last minute, Jonny was left with no real plan for this episode. What ensues is a 90-minute, rambling conversation about anything and everything. We leisurely navigate in and out of New Business, interspersing the usual gaming chat with football, movies, and more.

With Cho Aniki just released on Virtual Console, Lindy reprises our infamous joking about the legendary kuso-ge ("shit game"). For once, we even talk about the new WiiWare title -- Groovin' Blocks. But there's plenty of non-game discussion too, so we hope you enjoy this look into our disturbed minds.

Papr.

I haven't listened yet, but it was one of the most fun episodes to record.  The next couple of weeks should continue to be... unusual.

How far into Battlestar Galactica are you, Jonny?

I should be getting Season 1, Disc 3 in the mail tomorrow.

Then you'll be getting into the really good stuff soon. The last few of Season 1, all of Season 2, and the beginning of Season 3 is the best part of the series. It should be a really different experience for you not having to wait close to a year between seasons, something that's really painful with the kind of cliffhangers they do. I envy you, I wish I could watch the series for the first time again.

AVSeptember 16, 2008

listening now. I rented Hexen too played Co-Op it was stupid fun.

so is there a back story to this podcast that caused it to be like this?

Jonny didn't prep shownotes.

Also: Cho Aniki.

I liked the insinuation that Cho Aniki is perfect for girl gamers. GoldenPhoenix should appreciate that.

GP is going to disembowel you.

A certain lady on Ep. 116 was at least interested in it.

SmakianSeptember 17, 2008

James, Kudos for breaking this one up into a goodly number of segments. I get bored when the same art is up too long.

Nick DiMolaNick DiMola, Staff AlumnusSeptember 17, 2008

I like the way Jonny says naked. Nekkid lol

By the way, I think the second Dragon Ball Z fighting game on Wii was online.

DAaaMan64September 18, 2008

Hey Jonny, can you talk more about Chibi Robo next week? that game rules and I agree, very underrated and talked about.

I second this.

We can definitely bring it up when Evan comes on the show.  He is another big fan, plus he reviewed the DS version.

DAaaMan64September 18, 2008

I never got the DS version cause it was Walmart exclusive. :/ I've been trying to trade for it wherever possible.

CalibanSeptember 18, 2008

Chibi Robo on DS is not as good as Chibi Robo on GC.

Agreed, though Evan seems to disagree with that.

CalibanSeptember 18, 2008

Evan is crazy... sometimes.

Interesting episode. Mixing things up once in a awhile is a good idea.

*sigh*

SchadenfreudeSeptember 20, 2008

Is it a real lady or did someone put lipstick on their hand?

It's Greg in drag.

YoshidiousGreg Leahy, Staff AlumnusSeptember 21, 2008

You went with me when Jonny was the one singing falsetto from the Rocky Horror Picture Show?!? Swing-and-a-miss Jon.

I think you in a dress, wig, and lipstick is comedic gold when combined with the British accent.

Okay, here's the skiny.  That episode fell into the void.

DAaaMan64September 21, 2008

... no more 116?

Our guest had a problem saving her audio, and a large chunk of it was lost.  We're deciding whether to publish what was left over or just give up on it.

Also, Greg, that wasn't really falsetto.  It's more like my Elmo voice.  Maybe you'll hear my falsetto some day.  I studied Jeff Buckley and Frankie Valli.

I stand corrected. Naturally, I would feel blessed to have my ears become the recipients of your true falsetto tones. However, between the sound quality over Skype and my tone-deafness, I fear that I might mistake it for one or all of the following:

a) Your Elmo voice
b) Your Rick Astley voice
c) Your Barry White voice
d) My Gollum voice
e) Heather Graham's British accent in "From Hell"
f) That guy from NFL films in the 1970s

Steve Sabol?

YoshidiousGreg Leahy, Staff AlumnusSeptember 22, 2008

Not Sabol, I think it's John Facenda, you know, the guy that does the narration for the NFL Films treatment of the Ice Bowl etc.

ShyGuySeptember 22, 2008

Was it Perrin Kaplan?

This episode was REALLY crazy...but funny. Just don't let it happen every week ;)

I read between the lines.

So I guess we'll have to do 116 all over again, right?  I'm OK with that...I saw it as a missed opportunity anyways.  We didn't "go there" enough.

SchadenfreudeSeptember 22, 2008

Just make up for it with a giant 3 hour extravaganza and have Karl edit it so we can get it on time.

You'd better watch that cheekiness...James isn't in a good mood tonight.

ShyGuySeptember 22, 2008

Wait. Seriously, no 116? 117 is becoming 116?

I'll send a sample to you, but be warned: the last person I shared it with became my girlfriend.

NWR_KarlKarl Castaneda, Contributing EditorSeptember 23, 2008

I never considered what we had that serious, Jonny. Just a fling, you know?

ShyGuySeptember 23, 2008

Karl, how much would you charge to edit Crimm's podcast streams and send me the mp3?

We feared that all of 116 was lost to a technical problem (one person's file crashed before saving completely).  It now looks like New Business can be salvaged, so please look for it very soon.

Knowing the situation, it'd take three unicorns and a smooth pint of hypothetical Guinness. Also, naked pictures of Bee Arthur for Stan. Don't ask.

I guess Jonny runs on Valve time.

DAaaMan64September 26, 2008

sad thing too. i want!

ShyGuySeptember 27, 2008

All the crew needs to drop out of school/quit their jobs so they can podcast full time.

DAaaMan64September 28, 2008

WTFux eh eh eh

So yeah, Evan's audio (117 trainwreck) that is going in there with 116 is unusable.

It is like he sped up his audio by a factor of 2.05 just to annoy the hell out of me*.  It's not an even factor of 2... oh no, that could be fixed.  It's still off after I make adjustments.

*Evan did not do that to annoy me, he did that because he is still in denial.  He has yet to realise that Macs can't even do media stuff right THEIR PRIMARY SELLING POINT.

ShyGuySeptember 29, 2008

Is there a solution to this problem? Should I send Evan a PC? I have PCs. Dozens of PCs.

I blame the Internet. My podcast was just fine without it.

It's out of my hands!

See?  When you break up the original band (me, James, Greg, Jonny), everything falls apart.  Together we're Van Halen, with any of us MIA we're Van Hagar.

NWR_KarlKarl Castaneda, Contributing EditorSeptember 29, 2008

Is Burchfield still using Garage Band to record raw audio? Goddamnit, when will that boy learn?

ShyGuySeptember 29, 2008

You know what RFN's schedule is like? When you have a favorite show on TV and the network keeps screwing with it. "Let's move it from Tuesdays at nine to Thursdays at 10!" "Now we'll move it back to tuesday at eight!" "Now we're going to preempt it for two weeks because of football!"

This is why I wait for the DVD season set.

SchadenfreudeOctober 01, 2008

Has the podcast been canceled? After Arrested Development, I can't take another heartbreak.  :'(

Arrested Development ... :sigh:

Michael: ...I'll tell you what: I'm going to give you a promotion. Welcome aboard, Mr. Manager.
George Michael: Wow. I'm Mr. Manager.
Michael: Well, manager; we just say "manager." And you can hire an employee if you need one.
George Michael: Do you think I need one?
Michael: Don’t look at me, Mr. Manager.
George Michael: Right, it’s up to me now. I’m Mr. Manager.
Michael: Manager. We-we just say, uh…
George Michael: I know, but you…
Michael: Doesn't matter who.

The podcast is alive and well!  We had some technical difficulties again this week, but we should be able to deliver it (kinda) on time.  Maybe.
