My "out-there" prediction: A good Wii game from Ubisoft!

Jonny continues to spurn his listeners and fellow RFN cast members, so the rotating hosting duties finally land in the lap of Nintendo World Report European Correspondent, Greg "Sexy Pipes" Leahy.

With the gear-up to E3, this very special RFN focuses on what we know will be at E3 and what our intrepid panelists: Greg, Jon, and James expect to see there. A short segment is devoted to speculation on theoretical DS titles, but the majority of the time is given to the Wii.

This week also features 11 instances of Ubisoft hate, and is unusually bereft of Jonny jokes.

I'm not buying Unnamed for the DS until Crimm gives me his review.

Gamerankings couldn't help me with this Unnamed game either - it thought I wanted some Peter Jackson 360 project...

It got a 7.

Well...it will... when I write it.

Saying negative things about Pikmin 2 makes you guys my enemies for life, but otherwise it was a great show. I'm surprised that there was no mention of a possible appearance of the Wii Kirby game seeing as the last time I checked it was still listed for 2008 release in Japan.

That totally slipped my mind.  I can't believe Kirby Wii didn't come up... even after we talked about the DS game.

Hey James, it keeps slipping Nintendo's mind considering they've had it listed as a 2008 game since late 2006, so it's only natural.

I'm going to open up a contest for anyone who can guess the person of questionable sanity that we were discussing during the beginning of the stinger.
Clue 1: He owns an NFL team.

Has it really been listed as 2008 for that long? Kirby in 3D has so much potential that I really want to see it and see it done well. As for the contest, the only owner I can think of right now is Art Rooney. I'd question his sanity, or the sanity of anyone who wanted to have anything to do with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

This is one of the first references to Kirby Wii on a release schedule (scroll all the way to the bottom of the long list) back in September 2006:

http://wii.ign.com/articles/732/732678p1.html

It's listed there last as TBA, whereas most everything else towards the bottom is listed as TBA 2007, so I remember taking that to mean it would probably be an '08 game.

And no Art Rooney is not the correct answer, sorry.

I was pretty sure he wasn't, I just wanted to take advantage of an opportunity to take a shot at the Steelers and have it be somewhat on-topic.

This poor thread  :(

Great show guys!  And in all seriousness, Greg you did fabulous job moderating!

Yeah, Greg did a great job as host, that was the most on-topic episdode I've ever heard.

And thus Greg was never allowed to host again.

ShyGuyJuly 14, 2008

Crimm was full of spit and vinegar wasn't he? I will testify at his upcoming trial.

shammackJuly 14, 2008

For some reason, RFN episodes 22 and 27 just showed up in the RSS feed as if they were new episodes.

Back to people we know and love, Evan is visited by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, meaning Stan, Jonny, and Karl, but not necessarily in that order. They discuss:

    * Pre-Wii-Ordering = Stupid

Still hilarious after all these years!

P.S. One day if I have a whole lot of time on my hands, I'd really like to make a compilation reel of Crimm's greatest hits.

All the Perrin Kaplan talk reminded me of this thread. FYI, Kairon loves Perrin Kaplan.

Also, I disagree with James' Pikmin 2 assessment. It fixed alot of the flaws with the first Pikmin. More Pikmin types, no day limit, more exploration focus; essentially all of the problems I had with the first. I think it introduced one flaw which were the dungeons you dove into. They grew tiresome over time and could've been done more tactfully. Pikmin 3 will hopefully introduce new concepts when/if it comes out.

I enjoyed all the ::ding:: sounds... Crimm, you should work silly sound effects like that into every episode...

Whenever Jonny mentions Magic the Gathering...
Whenever Lindy gets harassed for late reviews...

I still think a Factor 5-made Star Fox game would be fantastic. Just make it like Rogue Squadron but with Star Fox.

Like Crimm said, they can't do games with walking...well, Star Fox doesn't have to have walking

ShyGuyJuly 14, 2008

So Kairon told promised me a new podcast tonight, with E3 coverage. I waiting to tune in.

Supposedly.  All I can tell you is that me, Greg, and James have the night off, which means we'll sit around on Skype sipping expensive scotch and talking about our investments while smoking cigars.

My smoking jacket is just back from the cleaners.

Something about hearing that "1, 2, 3, Clap" sync technique really disturbs me... it's like listening in on some sort of pitiful drum circle.

ShyGuyJuly 14, 2008

I would pay money for a Silks Yoshidious and Crimm alterna-podcast this week.

I'll look into it as a possibility.

Y'know what really disturbs me more than clapping? YOUR USERNAME. That is all.

ShyGuyJuly 14, 2008

Greg a jerk to his fans CONFIRMED. He probably charges for his autograph too.

Just a simple little easy to edit alterna-cast is all I ask, thirty minutes of E3 reaction rants from Crimm, droll comments from Greg and trolling from Lindy.

I had some feed issues this week.  I ran a took to analyse the XML file that manages it, and a few episodes' entries were broken.  As such, no one could download them from iTunes.  We were unaware of this fact until the feed just stopped working all together.  I stepped through the feed, fixing the problems with it.  In doing, some episodes that were "gone" are now back, and "new."

I think there is one question that is on everyone's mind, is Lindy the official PS3 fanboi of the podcast? ;)

Seriously, Sony innovating? Almost everything they have done and continue to do has been an extension of a well known idea or a flat out steal from the competition (ah but you get TWO not one TWO analog sticks, amazing), when you can say with a straight face that MS innovates more than Sony you know you have problems. Heck it could even be argued the eyetoy is an extension of the Game Boy Camera. Sony is in trouble and things are NOT getting better with FF announced for 360 as well. They are hurting big time, not even LittleBigPlanet is going to pull them out. They are the ones that really need 3rd party support, EXCLUSIVE, support and they are getting worse exclusive support than the Wii. That is a huge problem for a company that has basically sucked off 3rd parties and had it easy the last two generations.

Anyway great show, though I guess only a serious gamer can see the potential in Sony. (Just teasing Lindy)

But we shall see if they pull out anything exciting at E3. All I can think of that I want on PS3 at the moment is LBP which will more than likely be more niche, and Afrika which is going to be a casual game. Beyond that I do not see any compelling exclusives (I'm sorry but Killzone 1 does not get me excited for Killzone 2) like Resistance: Copy of Halo 2.

I'll say this much, after Greg commented that ign's word would be shot after all their hinting... HA
