Watch out! There’s another Ty ready to fight all who challenge him!

Created by Krome Studios Pty Ltd (Sunny Garcia Surfing, Goofy Skateboarding) and published by EA, Ty the Tasmanian Tiger is a game for all the Aussies (and 3D platformer fans) out there.

It all begins when Ty—the only known Tasmanian Tiger in existence—finds out that the rest of his species are actually trapped in another parallel world known as Dreamtime. To save his kind, Ty must retrieve five stolen talismans needed to open the portal to the mysterious hidden land. The game’s locations are inspired by Australia’s numerous climates, like the rainforest, snowy mountains, vast deserts and the Great Barrier Reef. Similarly, both friendly and fiendish characters are based on Australia’s natural wildlife, including evil cassowary, Boss Cass.

Like all platformers, Ty the Tasmanian Tiger’s gameplay focuses on one or two main attacks. Ty will rely on his trusty arsenal of boomerangs and his impressive “chomping” ability to subdue the less docile creatures of the Outback. In classic style, Ty explores the large 3D environments with runs and jumps with the occasional glide and can swim when needed. As is the trend with most platformers nowadays, Krome’s upcoming game will have secondary gameplay styles such as riding, puzzles and mini-games involving herding, collecting, problem solving and more.

Ty the Tasmanian Tiger isn’t looking to win any points for originality, but that isn’t its goal. Krome and EA hope to provide traditional yet enjoyable gameplay to platform junkies. Ty is set to make his debut on the GameCube and PS2 this winter.
