The console action game based on The Phantom Menace will soon be ready for the GBA. Find out what to expect in our preview.
Star Wars: Jedi Power Battles pits you, as one of three Episode One Jedi masters, against legions of battle-droids and other nasties. The gameplay is comparable to the venerable Super Star Wars series, except that there are more platform-jumping exercises, and everything takes place in an isometric perspective instead of side-scrolling 2D.
Controlling either Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jinn, or Mace Windu, you'll slash through several stages, including a Trade Federation ship, the capital city of Naboo, and Anakin's homeworld of Tatooine. This progression loosely follows the movie's plot, but Jedi Power Battles cuts out the plot and focuses on pure action.
In addition to simply slicing up bad guys, you can also use force powers (which differ for each character) and even reflect laser shots back at the enemy. Powerups along the way will refill your health and force meter, and also give you extra lives. Oh, did we mention that you get to fight Jar Jar Binks? (...or at least a Gungan that looks just like him.)
Star Wars: Jedi Power Battles for GBA is currently set to be released on December 1st, 2001. Look for our full review then.
