Dungeons? Check. Magic? Check. A hero to save the world? That's where you come in.

Mazes of Fate was originally released for the Game Boy Advance in December 2006, but now the game's developer, Sabarasa Entertainment, has overhauled the title to give it a new coat of paint.

Mazes of Fate DS is not a traditional turn-based RPG. Players freely explore 3D dungeons in first-person view and solve puzzles in real-time, with enemies that follow in real-time as well. Battles don't involve a separate battle view, but instead remain in the same first-person dungeon exploration view, with actions being chosen from pop-up menus. And while the movement and exploration remains real-time, party members need to wait a certain amount of time before repeating actions, like attacking monster or casting spells. This amalgam of turn-based and real-time all takes place on the touch screen, so players can take advantage of the stylus for puzzles and menus, while an automap is displayed on the top screen.

Players can choose from three preset characters to start exploring the forsaken land of Akhiel (It has been cursed by the gods, and a much-needed sacred relic has been stolen) or they can choose to create their own custom hero by allocating stat points to different traits and skills. In this way, they can create a custom mix of abilities, and as they level up, characters can grow from thieves to magic users, or from healers to warriors. Additionally, players will meet secondary characters who'll want to join them on their quest, and with a three-person party limit, players will have to choose who to accept and who to leave behind.

The developers promise 25+ hours of gameplay, new quests, re-imagined dungeons, and all of those RPG staples (items, spells, and talking to NPCs). The game releases on February 26. In the meantime, check out the included videos of the game!
